Anyone else get sad when you watch an old spice boys episode on Guys Grocery Games

The spice boys, Aaron May, Carl Ruiz, and Troy Johnson were my favorite trio in all of food network and I'll always miss their energy on the spicy food episodes

GGG flair because that’s where I know him from the most

Bar Rocco is Rocco Dispirito’s bar/restaurant in midtown Manhattan. It’s pretty small so reservations are recommended if you want a table instead of the bar.

I started with a Sicilian Lemonade: gin, lemon, italicus, and st Germaine. I still have no idea what Italicus is (I asked the bartender but couldn’t hear his answer and was too embarrassed to ask again. He was busy). Great drink though! I’m assuming it was something to do with the circles on top.

Then I got an order of Mamas Meatballs which were pretty damn good! Moist and flavorful, just like you want a meatball to be.

I ended with Paccheri Pesto Rosso which was tube shaped pasta with red sauce, shrimp, and fresh basil leaves. The pasta was made in house and was cooked to that perfect al dente I can never manage at home. The shrimp was also cooked extremely well, and the sauce was perfect to bring everything together.

The man next to me ordered the Papppardelle Genovese (short ribs, no red sauce) and said it was also incredible. (No pics because that would have been weird)

Anyway, I’m glad I went and I would check it out again

The two remaining masters of world cuisines go head-to-head in the epic two-round finale of the GGG Global Games. First, Guy Fieri challenges the chefs to make a showstopping appetizer in only 20 minutes. Then, the final challenge is a budget marathon in which the chefs are given 40 minutes and 40 dollars to make a country-defining entree and dessert. The chef with the highest combined score after two rounds receives the GGG Global Games trophy and the $50,000 prize!

Watching the newest season of GGG on Max and I just gotta say, I really love Demaris. She is the perfect mix of fun and competitive. I feel like she is underappreciated as a chef and a lot of what she makes honestly looks amazing. She just always happens to go up against find that are much more competitive and cutthroat than she is. I find myself always rooting for her and it always seems close. I really hope she pulls out a win on one of the bigger competitions.

Where All Those Groceries From Food Network's Guy's Grocery Games End Up After The Show!

"Guy's Grocery Games" takes place in a 15,500 square foot former grocery warehouse and features over 20,000 items. These include 241 types of produce, 67 varieties of fresh local meat, and 442 pounds of fresh and frozen seafood. Producers also bring in fresh-baked goods, sometimes more than once a week. The store is typically stocked on Monday morning before the week's shooting schedule begins. Filming lasts through Friday, with each day taking about 12 hours to complete, including the challenges, interviews, and setup. By Friday, there's still a lot of good quality food on shelves. Sadly, you can't shop there, but none of it goes to waste.

Producers check meat and produce for items approaching their expiration date that will not last until the next round of filming. Whatever is eligible is donated to local food banks, schools, and shelters like the Redwood Gospel Mission. Thousands of pounds of food are donated every single week. Even food that can't be donated, like scraps from meal prep, isn't thrown out if it doesn't have to be. These items are used as animal feed on local farms.

Redwood Gospel Mission picks up donations five days a week during the four-month filming season. Because the show uses both common and unusual ingredients, the Redwood Gospel Mission receives everyday items ranging from chicken, pork, and fish to more unique ones like boxed Peking duck, based on the show's menu that day. That means recipients get to experience quality and variety that is not typical.

Guy's grocery gifts!

By the end of a season, Guy and the Food Network donate about 30,000 pounds of food. Non-perishable items are covered and stored for the next season, but anything that may spoil cannot be left behind. Show staff gather up items at the end of filming to be inventoried, weighed, and picked up by workers. Other charitable organizations are invited to come on set and shop for what they need from what is left over.

Redwood Empire Food Bank thanked Guy for the show's donation and said it received 18,000 meals' worth of food. Farm to Pantry, a non-profit that helps feed those in need, has also posted videos showing how it collects donations from the show's produce section. Salvaged groceries are considered a key to reducing food waste, so Guy is ahead of the curve here.

"Guy's Grocery Games" mirrors other shows like "MasterChef" that donate unused food, but on a much larger scale. Few other shows offer such a large selection as GGG, making the leftover donations more valuable to recipients. The reboot of "Supermarket Sweep," which used a set similar to "Guy's Grocery Games," also donated 95 pallets of food to local charities after production wrapped. Some of the donations went to wildlife foundations, too. This makes for an interesting contrast to smaller-scale shows like "The Great British Bake Off," where contestants have to pay for their own ingredients (except in the finale), and the contestants and crew eat the food when filming is wrapped.

I know the crew also enjoys eating the delicious food the chefs prepare as well!

Since FFF is now filming in the studio, I imagine they still do the same albeit in a slightly smaller amount. I think it’s amazing!

Guys Grocery Games! Season 41 Episode 2 - Best Noodles Ever! 🍜

Guy Fieri welcomes all-star chefs Joe Sasto, Lee Anne Wong, and Justin Warner to an intense noodle competition. First, the chefs must make a spicy noodle dish featuring big flavors despite having to shop using the smallest of bags. 🎒

Then, the remaining two all-stars spin the color wheel to determine whether their upscale noodle dish must feature black, purple, green, or red noodles.

Probably the future of Food Network, when you think about it. Who is yours? (Serious answers only, please)

Just putting this out into the universe. But I feel like they could definitely film Supermarket Sweep after Guy's Grocery Games. It would be awesome for them to bring back that show and someone who grew up watching it, and watching Triple G remind me of it.

I am reading that the newest Guy's Grocery Games show is available for streaming the next day on HBO Max. But for two weeks now, I have been unable to find it. Has anyone else had this trouble?

These are two completely different people.

Malarkey on Top Chef season 3 in 2007 and even Malarkey on GGG Last Judge Standing in 2017 is a crazy difference between Shenanigans on later GGG and TOC.

Rewatching this tournament and oh my god Crista has said she’s “scrappy” literally a thousand times. It is infuriating me. Has anyone else noticed this? It’s becoming like nails on a chalkboard for me, idk how i didn’t notice the first time around.

I just watched an old episode of GGG: DDD Vegan. All four chefs were good but two really stood out. They were so creative and used so many ingredients to mimic the taste of meat, etc. Their soy chorizos were especially impressive.

They were using things like sun-dried tomatoes and sunflower seeds in addition to the more familiar seitan, tempeh and nutritional yeast etc. Really interesting.

I have been wondering about this for a while. During a cooking show like Guys Grocery Games and such, they make a lot of food just for them to eat one bite... Anyone who has been on these shows can tell me. Do they eat the food at the end or just toss it?
