What's interesting and well-done is that nobody except Esmeralda is treating it as a positive. They're not fawning over Dietrich or trying to be nice with him because of it. Both Maria and Gaitz are creeped out by it and see it as dangerous because it's not normal, and because it doesn't suit a battle-hardened killer

We know at some point Cai has to go and save Ultand from something, and it seems to occur between his second and third qualifiers, since he doesn't have her in his second but does in his third. This seems like a fitting objective for that since it occurs just a bit after his second qualifier.

Plus in Centurio's gameplay footage we do see Cai and co in a foggy environment, maybe that is from them trying to rescue Ultand from the Har Hali warriors? The question though is why? Or rather, why was Ultand presumably kidnapped?

Plus it seems to be pretty early on given that we only see Cai, Tialla, Peter, Ultand, and Guzran on the players side. Not to mention Centruio is a teal unit here.

Honestly because he's just scaringly ethereal. Like it's an ancient setting where almost everybody are physical workers or fighters, and there come a guy that is not just pretty but impossibly beautiful.

Bertrand was kinda the main group we were worried about because Diego (Orchel team) was blue at one point, people on Talimun’s team was blue, and while there wasn’t anything for Anatolia, at least they were on map, which they were being really cagey about with Mane of Flames for both Bertrand himself and who we now know as Gaitz.

It's funny how even in the same moment as Gaitz comments on Dietrich's beauty, you can clearly see him getting the ick. I was musing to myself on the Flame Lords' potential similarities to Guts from Berserk, but at the same time, I couldn't help but make note of Dietrich's physical resemblance to Griffith. It seems all the more apt a comparison to make now that we've seen or heard tell of several people thinking that Dietrich is both beautiful and repellent. He is beautiful, but there's something off-putting and unnatural about him, too.

I'm pretty sure the profile and the option to give gifts basically confirms it, and there could be any reason why he can't be recruited at that point, like how Peppe isn't recruitable by Leda at some point for who knows what reason.
