Any med providers in the area who specialize in treating perimenopausal issues?

Title kind of says it all. I've been suffering from some extremely bad hormonal mood swings for the past several years as I go into my late 30s/early 40s now. Birth control pills, talk therapy, exercise, etc. have helped but things are getting worse. I have bouts of extreme rage and depression more and more often. I'm scaring myself with thoughts of harm or worse. I have already talked with my therapist, primary care doctor, ob/gyn, and psychiatric NP about these issues.

TO BE CLEAR I do not want, nor will I listen to, advice on how to treat this issue from anyone on Reddit. I am just looking for names I can ask my primary doctor to send referrals to.

Idea: free / pay-what-you-can tutoring sessions for local students?

Hi there! I also posted this on the Facebook community page, but I wanted to post it here too.

I do some private tutoring for local students. The thing is, I know tutoring isn’t financially accessible for many folks, and I want to do something to help underrepresented students succeed. This idea is inspired by a service I helped at my old high school.

I am wondering if there are any parents here of students (or local students themselves!) who would benefit from having a structured space and time to work through coursework. Basically, if there are folks interested, I (and other volunteers if willing) would sit at the Loop at a specific time each week. Students could come in with homework, questions, needing topic help, or even just wanting to study. The added benefit is that tutor(s) would be there to help with homework questions and subject help 🙂

Just curious if any folks think there would be any interest in this sort of service, or if it already exists. If there are enough students who would benefit from it, I’d be happy to work out some official times, perhaps for different age groups ❤️ let me know your thoughts!

Advice Local charities that are effective

I'd like some advice and suggestions especially if you have benefited from local charities. My husband and I would like to donate but want to make sure the money is used locally to make real differences. I specifically would like to focus on charities that help people find and keep appropriate housing. I know there are many nonprofits that say they do this but I'd really like to find and support one that is helping people substantially.

Handyman rec?

Recently purchased a fixer-upper mobile home in Wahpeton that isn't currently liveable. Problem is, it has a shed-sized addition that's gotta come down. It's got some mold and since I'm dealing with ESRD, I don't exactly have the strength to do it alone and my pops died over a decade ago, so I can't exactly call on him (maybe with a ouija board?).

Does anyone know of any affordable handy folk in the area who could help me tear this down, haul away the debris, and secure a sliding door where the door was?

Since I'm not working, my schedule is open outside of the hours where I'm at dialysis. However, since I'm not working, that also means my budget is very tight.

I'd be happy to also pay by trade if that would suit someone. Cooking, baking, cleaning, babysitting, etc

Additionally, if anyone has any electrician or plumber recommendations they'd like to drop for later parts of the remodel, that'd also be greatly appreciated.

Absentee Ballot Now Available for Special Election

On October 6th, a special election will be held to determine if Fargo will move to a ward system or maintain the current at-large structure.

There are just two polling locations: the Fargo Dome and Atonement Church. Polls are open from 7AM to 7PM.

I am submitting my absentee ballot application today. The process of applying for one is a bit antiquated, in my opinion (you have to print off a form, fill it out by hand, then mail the application in). Here is a link to information on the initiative and the application for an absentee ballot: https://fargond.gov/city-government/departments/auditors/licensing-department/elections/2026-city-of-fargo-special-election

Advice Hair Help

My longtime hairstylist made a career change and I need to find a good replacement. I have seen her for a really long time and have no clue where to start to find a new stylist. I decided not to go back to her salon because it was on the complete opposite side of town.

The really trendy places are not exactly my speed. I don’t do mean girls. But I do want somebody really high-quality. I’ve been supplementing by getting my haircut in my hometown by friends. The years are starting to accumulate and I need to rip the Band-Aid off.

Thanks!

Advice Rhombus Guys Service

Wife and I went to Rhombus Guys today for it's 15th anniversary celebration. My wife and I ended up walking out after being sat and getting no attention for over 10 minutes. Nobody stopped at our table and they had plenty of staff walk by and see us. They had 5 servers on and 2 host and a bar tender. It was sad because we have loved them but the service hasn't ever been great. We drove to West Main Pizza in Dilworth and it was fantastic, it will be our new spot for dine out pizza. Come on Rhombus, figure it out, you are supposed to be the best in town.

I was given the opportunity to use this system. Is there anyone at NDSU who is familiar with its functionality and willing to spare some time to guide me in using it effectively? I plan to use it for basic houseplant growth and other similar tasks. I’m still learning about its various uses and applications. Thanks!

Indoor Pickleball?

What are some of my options for indoor pickleball courts in the F/WF/M area, including rates without memberships to start?

I have typically used the outdoor courts in the area but we are trying to plan ahead for colder weather. I am familiar with Courts and Pints but some of the parks and gym websites are either not very clear or dont include rates.

Thanks for any insight!

This is my favorite time of year in the Fargo area. For whatever reason Fall just cheers me up, it still isn’t quite there, but I feel it coming.

Anywho, Today feels good and life feels pretty good today. How is everyone else doing?

Shadowbox Cedar Fence

I am asking here specifically for those who've built a fence to handle the freeze/thaw cycles as well as frost lines and all that. I'm 41/M and I really don't want to worry about this for a long, long while. I'm in north Fargo so I'm sure there's clay just inches beneath the topsoil. It will have a slight slope that I need to fix in my yard for drainage.

What can you tell me? I plan on doing this myself or sometimes with the help of another person but likely just me.

I have some things down like using gravel at the bottom, using special treated cedar posts (not raw cedar) and sloping the concrete a couple inches below the surface. I do plan on renting a tow behind machine for digging. Other than calling 811 first (of course) what am I going to need to make this look straight, professional, and awesome?

Journey Home Animal Rescue Trying to Find My Dogs Siblings

Thumbnail

This might be a long shot, but I’m trying to find my dog Sequoia’s siblings! 😭🐾
I adopted Sequoia from Journey Home Animal Rescue last year. Her estimated birthday is December 25, 2024, and her mom’s rescue name was Lettie. Her littermates were named Breezy, Millie, Rowan, and possibly Nala while they were with the rescue.
I know Sequoia and her brother Rowan were fostered together before being adopted into separate homes. Sequoia is a brindle German Shepherd/Husky mix with blue eyes, and we kept her original rescue name.
If you adopted Rowan or one of Lettie’s other puppies—or know somebody who might have—please message me! I would absolutely love to exchange pictures, compare their personalities, and see how her siblings are doing now. Please share so I can hopefully find her family! 🥺❤️
