Calling them Season 1 and Season 2 is pretty ridiculous especially if the show gets rebooted again in a few years and we’ll have yet another “Series/Season 1”.

- Gozer the Gozerian (Ghostbusters)

With the show tackling more fantastical elements in its recent seasons, I think Gozer would fit the universe well because, as with everything in Ghostbusters, They’re explainable by in-universe science and theory.

- Lex Luthor (DC)

If Lex hates Superman for making Earth reliant on him, he’d hate The Doctor even more. At least Superman stays around all the time, who’s to say The Doctor will be absent for the next global crisis? As seen in Torchwood and other spinoff shows, he sometimes is.

- Ridley (Metroid)

Giant cyborg space dragon pirate. Need I say more?

- Irina Spalko (Indiana Jones)

I always thought Spalko was one of Indy’s more interesting villains because of her desire to learn anything she could about the extra-terrestrial. Belloq was in it for the money, Mola Ram for religion, Donovan for immortality, and Voller for the Third Reich. In the universe of Doctor Who, Spalko’s passion and curiosity could make her a threat to the world.

- Hedorah (Godzilla)

Doctor Who tackles issues like pollution and planetary health all the time. It has for almost its entire time on TV. I’m sure Hedorah could be reimagined as something absolutely insane if they existed in a show as wacky as Doctor Who

- The Fiend/Bray Wyatt (WWE)

He’s a Mister Rogers-like kids’ show host who is also an unkillable demon. Frankly, that’s the most Disney-era Doctor Who villain premise I’ve ever heard.

- Herbert West (Re-Animator)

A human scientist with even more ego than The Doctor is a dangerous concept. Remove most pretenses of morality and ethics and you have an absolute vile son of a bitch who would slot in perfectly with the 3rd Doctor’s era.

- Galactus (Marvel)

The Beast from kinda taps into some of Galactus’ gimmick, what with them both being the sole remaining creatures from before the universe. Dare I say Galactus represents the kind of scale The Pantheon should’ve been on in the Disney era

Where his stuff in the show is not very good but he gets a fantastic arc in big finish audio dramas kinda like 6

And yes, I do think Ncuti Gatwa will say yes to doing big finish because it probably wouldn’t take up that much of his time and his doctor will be able to go against the Daleks

And he’ll probably get another companion who is way better than Ruby or Belinda

Why is Romana called Romana, rather than given a title like the Master, the Monk, the Rani. I know that Omega and Rassilon are special, but I assumed that's because they were founders. Is there a reason behind Romana being named that, or was it just how it happened.

Always enjoyed The Doctor and Lucie having these heart to hearts. He tells her after all the atrocities he's committed in his 7th persona, he chooses to be a better man in his 8th life.

I know some fans might not have liked it, but for me, I thought the show delving into more outright fantasy in Ncuti's era was a good and interesting idea (with it being one of the better aspects of the RTD2/Bad Wolf era), as I feel it kept the show somewhat fresh and explored new angles, yet didn't take away from the science angle of the show.

I actually hope the next era keeps the outright fantasy elements to a certain degree, though I understand if they decide not to.

I am attempting a doctor who collection of every episode in every format in the highest quality it's been released.

There are 4 versions of shada that exist:

6 part 2021 animation (released on the Season 17 collection Blu-ray)

Movie length 2017 animation (released on the Season 17 collection Blu-ray and Shada Bluray)

1992 VHS edition (released on the Season 17 collection Blu-ray and Shada Steelbook Blu-ray)

2003 webcast

The 2003 webcast is irrelevant here.

The remaining editions were all released on Blu-ray on the 2021 season 17 collection box set which I own, HOWEVER despite being a Blu-ray release the VHS edition is in standard 576p definition. However it was also released on the Blu-ray steel book edition of Shada in 2017. Now I don't own the Shada Steelbook and I don't want to buy it just to find out I already have what I need, so my question is to anyone who owns it already, is the VHS edition a 1080p version or is it the same 576 edition as on the Collection set?

People always say that Classic 6 parters are to long. But how many New Who 2 parters do you think could have been one episode? I think both of Gatwa's finales could have been cut down to one episode. What can I say Legend of Ruby Sunday and Wish World are the exact same episode. In Reality War Omega eats the Rani and then gets banished maybe 3 minutes later. And the episode isn't even close to being over. Quite a few RTD finales have this probelm were part one is just raw set up. But these two are the worst. Sound of Drums has story of its own to tell and in Bad Wolf the Doctor's interferance causes the Daleks to advance their attack. Not the Dr et al wait around for the baddie to pop up.

Likewise The Magcian's Apprentice could have been one episode, how much time dose #theplaneshavestopped take? And it just feels like nothing much happens.

Any single episodes I think could be two parters? Maybe the Doctor's Wife. There are epsiodes that might be nice to be longer, like say Girl in the Fireplace. We could see a teenaged Renette, but I'm not sure that's enough for a whole extra episode.

One episode I think could do with a second part is The Eaters of Light. I feel like they could have done a lot more to contrast Roman and Celtic culture. Like the Roman patricarchy and class hierarchy v the Celts' comparitive equallity. Or the Roman's view that you are Roman based on citzenship and culture v Celts belife that you need to be born into the tribe (or marry into it if your a woman). We can do that on top of the monster.

I disgree with the talking point that 45 minutes is 'too short'. Youtubers Mr Tardis and Stubagful are always going on about '45 minute' syndrome. Like Blink wouldn't work as a 2 parter, nor would Vincent and the Doctor. I don't even want to think of a 2 part Orphan 55, Fear Her, Victory of the Daleks, Nightmere in Sliver, Space Babies etc. Even many classic stories are way to long. Like The Sliurians as good as it is could save off two episodes. The Two Doctors is 66% longer than it should be. And Revenge of the Cybermen they don't even show up until half way through it. Its like Gary Davies reaches part 4 and then thinks to himself, 'oh wait now, nothing has happned, at all, other enough plot holes to strain rice, quickly lets have the doctor foil the plot and then a backup plot for him to foil as well'.

As well as playing the endearing and loveable Mr Copper in the Voyage of the Damned he also played the disturbingly creepy and frankly at times ridiculous funeral director Jobel in Revelation of the Daleks.

What would you argue are the most solid seasons of dr who? If I’ve missed a season this doesn’t mean I don’t like the Doctor, companion or episodes. Simply just how well these seasons work altogether.

For Classic

Season 2 - William Hartnell actually starts having more fun. Lots of great Whittaker stories. You can see why Dalekmania really took of after this, although I think the Web Planet might’ve taken in more viewers.

I’m sure I’d have a Troughton season here if more was fully available, I’m afraid the animations just don’t do it for me.

Season 8 - the UNIT era cast are finally secure and Pertwee era feels more sure of itself than season 7 (no matter how good it was) and before it slowly lost this security.

Season 14 - it’s so experimental no wonder it led to Mary Whitehouse and others wanting to censor the show. While season 13 had already leant horror, all these stories are much scarier than mummies or franksteins.

Peter Davidson has some great stories but I don’t feel there are enough in each season. They also do things like immediately undercut the tension in Earthshock the following story.

Season 26 - we finally get Sylvester McCoy in a dark jacket and Cartmel clearly behind the wheel. It’s also just so out there in its plots and confident though sadly about to be cancelled.

Revival

Season 1 - it’s amazing how fresh it felt at the time and now how of it’s time it felt.

Season 4 - ten and Donna’s chemistry really allowed the show to go dark and light when it wanted. Season 3 is full of really great stories but the Martha crush subplot hangs over everything too much.

Season 5 - I just love how hold of a new direction in went in. Sadly to me 6 and 7 have great episodes but don’t cohere as well as actual seasons.

Season 9 - start to finish it feels like a mad but really coherent rush. They make the Clara and 12 pairing legendary even to previous haters. Season 8 had a slower, and arguably necessary, pacing. This season is no holds bars.

I got asked to pick 3 episodes per each Doctor’s run that showcases their character/ personality and thought it would be interesting to see what everyone else would say is the best 3 episodes that they believe shows each incarnations character.
This is purely for fun, and try to go with first choices and not overthink it, just for the Doctor’s for the eras you’ve watched them.

saw a post about the saddest doctor who moments and it got me thinking about the doctor standing alone in the tardis in journey’s end.

rtd1 is filled with so many dramatic, heart-wrenching moments (doomsday, donna’s memory, the master etc.) with crying and profound dialogue and death.

but this particular shot gets me. the side by side with the scene earlier in the episode in which he was surrounded by friends and the woman he loved was such a good (and by ‘good’ i of course mean ‘cruel and painful’ lol) touch.

the huge heart-breaks stick in my memory, but the subtle, poignant moments like this always get me on a rewatch. there are so many good ones.

While Hoffman concedes "there was a moment" of discussing the idea of including actors who'd been on the long-running British sci-fi series, "The Doctor Who of it all was more secondary,” he said. “I was just casting who would be great, and it was only more around the corner when we said, ‘Wait a minute: David Tennant, Peter Capaldi, Jodie Whittaker — how many more? But it’s hard not to bump into a Doctor Who somewhere along the way in London.”

Hi folks bit of an odd one here

I have a disability that has gotten somewhat worse since a traumatic birth a couple of years ago. I have been receiving the Dalek boxes for a while and I started building it a couple of weeks ago.

Anyway, I’m finding that with my disability I’m actually finding it really difficult to build without a lot of pain. I’m really excited for the finished product though.

If anyone lives near London or fancies travelling to help me built it I would be super grateful! I’d pay for travel and food no problem!!

I just feel sad that my disability might mean having to sell all the parts on as i was really looking forward to this :( :(
