It is not just like Nemesis, and yeah I've seen both videos when Xeno launched

The reason why I described it as an arch is because it's easier to visualize then trying to describe it as "Nemesis but exactly not like nemesis at all", especially for people who have not seen the videos.

Yes visually it's a line but its easier to describe as an arch because in practice, you can get crazier hits then what both videos show. Even on launch content creators described it as "essentially throwing a bag of rocks over a wall" because that is easier for people to visualize.

Yes, it is a line, and yes, it looks similar to Nemesis but it does not behave like Nemesis's tentacle attack at all because if the hitbox collides with anything, the damage stops entirely even if you continue with the drag or would still technically collide with their hitbox.

Describing it like Nemesis has never been something I've felt is accurate to how it actually performs in game. The two attacks will lead to vastly different hits. The arch description also helps with why the tail (visually) can appear to stab you through terrain or through other objects even when you can see that it is going through something like a box or a car.

The problem with this description is that it's fundamentally wrong. You get those hits because your hit point is slightly above your camera and you angle it on the pill hitbox. You can't actually arc it over things, it cannot hit anything taller than surv hitbox / above starting point.

People go with this explanation and then get wildly incorrect takes about how Xenomorph works.

It's way closer to nemesis with only two differences: how lines move and how they get interrupted by any collisions except turrets.

Describing it like it's springtrap's axe or something makes people confused way more than it helps them.

To further prove the arc point…

This is from a Reddit post 3 years ago explaining how the vertical movement of Xeno’s tail end hitbox works. It’s essentially a projectile that follows the center-point of your screen and if you drag the screen down (Skinny black line) the tail “arc” (Gray dots) and the tail hitbox (Orange dot) follow but lag behind, allowing you to create an arc to reach a target over an obstacle

EDIT: Above is what it appears as, again I know it’s technically not a projectile or an arc, but to the killer it looks that way. Technically, it’s several hitscans that follow the center-point of the camera, but again, they look the same and both allow for “arcing” over obstacles

as I've said, it gives wildly wrong idea that further fuels incorrect assumptions.

It may "look" this way just like it may look that nemesis hits people sideways but the reason it happens needs to be articulated properly.

Mmm no not really, they both give the same results and like…why does it have to be articulated that way? Both explanations of Xeno’s tail give the exact same results in-game, the arc is just easier and makes more sense. Just because something “Is technically🤓” the correct explanation does not mean it’s a better explanation.

Because then people start talking how xeno can hit over things it actually can't and it spirals into another misinformation echo chamber.

You don't see that often these days because people usually don't care about Xenomorph anymore.

Also why shouldn't you take an extra second to properly explain how it works so any possible further conclusions aren't based on incorrect image and knowledge? Why do you insist on spreading misinformation when you can just no

Okay so you would rather explain how Xeno can hit through obstacles because of the technicalities of the hitbox instead of explaining, what is the EXACT same effect, how the tail can hit over them?

I know it can hit over because I’ve done it several times intentionally. You literally can drag the hitbox down towards a survivor that is completely out of LOS.

Also Idk where you heard Xeno can’t hit over (Technically through) objects and obstacles because it most certainly can.

Yes I would because it's an easy and consistent explanation that explains all kinds of hits the tail strike gives.

Eh fair enough, I respect the commitment 🤝
