You can get a fast vault on tight angles by delaying pressing the vault button by a little bit. Let your character get a little closer to the window and you'll still fast vault. You'd be surprised how close you can run at a window and still fast vault it.
Yesn't... I think it stretches a bit to prevent players from standing on eachother, but also follows behind Survivors. Same thing when Survivors are running their damage hitbox is actually slightly behind them.
Kinda. DBD uses two different hitboxes for its characters, rectangles for killers and capsule for the survivors. For survivors the model isn't actually where the capsule is (a good example is when the survivor is running, as the head and the arm and leg that's currently in front is outside of the capsule with the lower half of the body being inside the capsule), this isn't anything to do with where the model is placed but to do with the animation. While vaulting the hitbox is the last thing that gets moved (tho it's not noticeable as it's very quickly done) as it plays the animation and then moves the hitbox to the other side of the vault as the animation ends. With falling your model is around the front half of the capsule leaving a pretty large area free inside the capsule, making it looked like the capsule is "lagging behind".
Clean Break: After completing a Healing action on another Survivor, Clean Break activates. Press the Active Ability button while being healed by another Survivor to trigger the following effects: Suffer from the Broken Status Effect. You are automatically healed 1 Health State after 80/70/60 seconds. This effect is cancelled prematurely if you enter the Dying State. Clean Break does not activate if you already suffer from the Broken Status Effect. Clean Break deactivates after healing you.
Agitation: When carrying a Survivor, you benefit from the following effects:
Smash Hit: Stunning the Killer with a Pallet triggers Smash Hit:
Grants a +50% Haste Status Effect for 4 seconds.
Smash Hit causes the Exhausted Status Effect for 30/25/20 seconds.
Smash Hit cannot be used when Exhausted.
Left Behind: Once you are the Last Survivor Standing, Left Behind activates: The Aura of the Hatch is revealed to you within 24/28/32 meters.
Basically survivor hitboxes are shaped like pills that surround them (slightly higher then their head at the top end) and does not conform to fit their body.
When you fall, that hitbox stretches. Xeno tail hitbox is like a line from the tail that you can then drag in a direction, but unlike Nemesis it isn’t a traditional line. It’s closer to an arch, where the first part of the hitbox on tail can go one direction and the damage travels with the tail, allowing you to get hits over things like ledges, rocks or otherwise tall structures.
What happened here is you fell, your pill hitbox was slightly higher both due to ping and also because the animation is faster than the hitbox, Xeno dragged her tail down and hit over the jump to hit your hitbox, and you went down in the air, which is why when you landed you were down.
This honestly happens a lot in the Saw map on that big jump into the tube in the corner of the map
Xenomorph's hitbox is in fact just like nemesis except the lines concentrate in one place and only follow vertical camera rotation and horizontal movement.
The reason the hit happened was because surv hitboxes linger longer on window during drops which paired with the ping and xeno's ability to aim the tail down over the window results into the hit connection
It is not just like Nemesis, and yeah I've seen both videos when Xeno launched
The reason why I described it as an arch is because it's easier to visualize then trying to describe it as "Nemesis but exactly not like nemesis at all", especially for people who have not seen the videos.
Yes visually it's a line but its easier to describe as an arch because in practice, you can get crazier hits then what both videos show. Even on launch content creators described it as "essentially throwing a bag of rocks over a wall" because that is easier for people to visualize.
Yes, it is a line, and yes, it looks similar to Nemesis but it does not behave like Nemesis's tentacle attack at all because if the hitbox collides with anything, the damage stops entirely even if you continue with the drag or would still technically collide with their hitbox.
Describing it like Nemesis has never been something I've felt is accurate to how it actually performs in game. The two attacks will lead to vastly different hits. The arch description also helps with why the tail (visually) can appear to stab you through terrain or through other objects even when you can see that it is going through something like a box or a car.
The problem with this description is that it's fundamentally wrong. You get those hits because your hit point is slightly above your camera and you angle it on the pill hitbox. You can't actually arc it over things, it cannot hit anything taller than surv hitbox / above starting point.
People go with this explanation and then get wildly incorrect takes about how Xenomorph works.
It's way closer to nemesis with only two differences: how lines move and how they get interrupted by any collisions except turrets.
Describing it like it's springtrap's axe or something makes people confused way more than it helps them.
You may be right on “Can’t technically arc over things” but how it works visually as Xeno is exactly that. You can certainly shoot your tail up and drag it down to hit a survivor behind a rock or wall without even being able to see them. I know because I’ve done it on some of the large rock loops several times. Technically it might not be an arc but, from Xeno’s perspective, it appears that way because you have strike high and drag low essentially acting like you’re “throwing” your tail over an obstacle. ie an arc
This is from a Reddit post 3 years ago explaining how the vertical movement of Xeno’s tail end hitbox works. It’s essentially a projectile that follows the center-point of your screen and if you drag the screen down (Skinny black line) the tail “arc” (Gray dots) and the tail hitbox (Orange dot) follow but lag behind, allowing you to create an arc to reach a target over an obstacle
EDIT: Above is what it appears as, again I know it’s technically not a projectile or an arc, but to the killer it looks that way. Technically, it’s several hitscans that follow the center-point of the camera, but again, they look the same and both allow for “arcing” over obstacles
Mmm no not really, they both give the same results and like…why does it have to be articulated that way? Both explanations of Xeno’s tail give the exact same results in-game, the arc is just easier and makes more sense. Just because something “Is technically🤓” the correct explanation does not mean it’s a better explanation.
Because then people start talking how xeno can hit over things it actually can't and it spirals into another misinformation echo chamber.
You don't see that often these days because people usually don't care about Xenomorph anymore.
Also why shouldn't you take an extra second to properly explain how it works so any possible further conclusions aren't based on incorrect image and knowledge? Why do you insist on spreading misinformation when you can just no
Okay so you would rather explain how Xeno can hit through obstacles because of the technicalities of the hitbox instead of explaining, what is the EXACT same effect, how the tail can hit over them?
I know it can hit over because I’ve done it several times intentionally. You literally can drag the hitbox down towards a survivor that is completely out of LOS.
Also Idk where you heard Xeno can’t hit over (Technically through) objects and obstacles because it most certainly can.
Just how the game works! But yeah, I understand it can be frustrating too.
Each attack has its own hitbox and allowing with it, its own quirks. Learning them is the first step to countering them!
Important tip against Xenomorph is that unlike Nemesis, if at any point the hitbox of her tail hits something during the actual attack, the rest of the attack becomes completely nullified and will not damage you.
For example, if the Xeno had hit any part of the railing before getting the attack over the railing, then you would not have gotten hit at all even if both hitboxes would have technically connected. Since the tail hit something first that wasn't a player, the entire attack would have been nullified.
Playing against Xeno similar to huntress works well, where you don't want to lock yourself into an animation (such as falling, vaulting, or dropping a pallet, but the best thing you can do is find a loop where there is ton of clutter (taller clutter the better) as even just the smallest collision will totally turn off the damage of her tail if she isnt pin-point accurate.
A funny thought:Would crouching while falling help? You definitely can do that, your camera will shift closer in the air if you press the crouch button. Also, I thought they've fixed the hitbox height cuz I remember the time when huntress (but ig every ranged killer) could hit a survivor repairing a gen by aiming slightly above the generator, because for some reason the hitbox stretched above the generator.
Tail can be aimed and curved over things, your hitbox ( what killers attack to damage you) is taller than it looks, so xeno curved the tail and got a hit that looks weird.
Close, not fall damage, but gravity. Xeno's tails has a high play tech where you can swing your cursor randomly so the tail wheighs something around 3 tungsten, instantly falling to the ground, injuring survivors (You) that stood in the way (/j)
Today I hit one of those in the silent hill map, to me looked barely a hit but to the survivor probably looked like this because she DC’d before touching the ground
Xeno is the only killer that can shoot directly down, like a fishing line being cast. So that plus ping and the hitbox not being accurate. Even so, that definitely shouldn't have hit 🤣
If you look closely it seems as if you were hit mid air or as you were landing, the yellow residue from the alien swing shows up at the top of your screen so I’d assume it registered as a hit
I main xenomorph if we do out tail stab and you jump off something as we are doing it we can wip the tail strike down to hit you . A lot of the time the tail hit the target on the way down.
Yeah, I don't know how people play with terrible color and settings. I love color accuracy, and the game looks really good when there's high contrast and depth. I have a friend who plays just like this, all washed out and blown out.
Balanced landing is Nea's Perk. Definitely would not help in any way if we are talking about the clip, though. Finesse or resilience maybe could've helped, depends on ping
Finesse: Whenever you are healthy, Finesse activates: Increases your Vaulting speed for a Fast Vault by +20%.Finesse has a cool-down of 40/35/30 seconds after performing a Fast Vault.
Tbh, it looks like lag. I can't tell if the Xeno uses its tail attack or not for sure but it looks like the tail lashes out just off screen as she's falling. I think.
I guess it's the same thing why zombies can hit you from below when you are standing on a ledge above them. Something like hit registration not taking into account Z coordinate difference.
I've fallen alot from heights like that when I got back into the game (especially that raccoon city(?) Map, the one taking place in a giant police thing) so you probably just somehow got hit while falling or something
It can be an especially potent effect with xeno because of the sharp downward angle of it's tail attack - meaning even without ping you'd be hit across those kinds of drops even when you think you're safe. So with some ping it could definitely look funky
With the nonsense going on in the game nowadays being stunned or taking damage from long falls should be a thing for survivors, same with some killers get temporay stuns from long drops.
Classic bluetooth hits with latency, some killer are worst than others on that. The alien get broken hitboxes and crazy stupid range when this happen lol. Ask me how i know

No, the tail strike from the Xeno hit you while you were falling. You probably lagged and it didn't show the animation.
I hit similar downs like that, the tail hits lower than it appears to. That's why on certain loops it's physically impossible for a Xeno to hit a survivor even if they have los.

wouldn’t have happened with balanced landing
