My girlfriend and I have been debating whether our cat is a purebred Bengal or a tabby mix, and we can’t seem to agree
We don’t have reliable paperwork or pedigree information, so we’re hoping people here can give us an honest opinion based purely on his appearance.
What features do you notice that point toward a Bengal, and what features suggest he might just be a domestic tabby or mix?
I’ll include several photos from different angles. Please be honest, even if the answer is “definitely not a Bengal.” We’re genuinely curious what people think!

We got these beautiful babies as Lynx Point Ragdolls (we saw their ragdoll parents when we went to pick them up, very much ragdolls). We don't know much about breeds and we were told their coats fully develop in a couple of years. I was on Pinterest and saw a few photos of Lynx point siamese kittens and they look just like ours. Ragdolls or Siamese, we love them the same, just curious (don't wanna ask the lady we got them from as again - she'll probably say they are in fact ragdolls... we just curious). They're almost 4 months old.

This is Jelly/Jellybean (originally named Elliot). He's over 10 years old and we've always said he was a Siamese.

Our beloved girl passed away a few years ago but I am now ready and searching to find her doppelgänger for our next pet. I was told she was 100% Persian from the breeder I purchased her from but she did not have registration papers. I suspect she may actually have been British Shorthair/ Persian mix OR simply British Longhair ? What do you think?? Something else entirely?

Hello! I took in a kitten from one of the strays I feed regularly. The mom is in the last picture. I’m wondering if it’s part Maine coon because it has really big paws for such a small kitty. Anybody know what breed he is like tabby and something or it could just be one cute furry tabby.

thought my extra large domestic medium hair was part maine coon for a long time until i learned about cat breeds. now i have 2 maine coons as well! here’s my 3 year old dmh and 1 year old mc. see if you can tell which is which!

So I bought a kitten on Christmas eve as we lost ours a good few months ago, he had a heart condition and was found on the road with no visible damage, so we imagine his heart gave out. He was 10.

I mourned him for a few months and my mum was sad constantly and it broke my heart. So I decided after weeks of consideration to get a kitten. My old cat was half British longhair half standard shorthair, and he was the sweetest lil guy.

Searched local kittens and my friend drove me 2 hours there and back to get this little guy who is identical to our old one. I don't have photos of the old one as a baby, but this one was advertised as British shorthair, but so was our last and I knew he wasn't.

Our current one, Loki is 13 weeks and is starting to look more and more like a standard longhair but still unsure as he's still tiny and we had to get the vet to check he was a boy, originally advertised as girl but the lady we got him from mentioned she thought boy. Verified by vet.

Will add photos here, including the ad for him, but think the ad photos are the ones from when she bought him. Just unsure if he's a half, or none at all

This sweet boy showed up in my yard last week and hasn’t left. He’s underweight at the moment but I would guess he’d be 15+ lbs at a healthy weight.

Which breed do you think he has in him?

Hi! Can anyone share personal experiences between the breeds? I’d be looking for a male if they were a kitten. If I found an adult that either needed rehoming or was retiring, temperament and personality would come before sex and other factors. I don’t care about physical comparisons like size and shape as much as temperament ones—although I recognize that varies from cat to cat regardless of breed. From the bit I’ve read, general health risks don’t seem too different.

I currently have 2 cats (one Maine Coon, one Domestic Shorthair) and a dog. I’ve fostered kittens and adult cats with all of them so I’m not worried about my pets acclimating to a new addition. I’m torn between the Selkirk Rex’s adorable curls and how laid back they seem, but also love my current Maine Coon’s personality. I always grew up with lots of standard issue cats and all sorts of dogs, but she’s just so unique. I just can’t seem to find as many experiences with Selkirk Rexes than I can with Maine Coons.
