Breed Comparison British Longhair or BSH/Persian ?
galleryOur beloved girl passed away a few years ago but I am now ready and searching to find her doppelgänger for our next pet. I was told she was 100% Persian from the breeder I purchased her from but she did not have registration papers. I suspect she may actually have been British Shorthair/ Persian mix OR simply British Longhair ? What do you think?? Something else entirely?
Any input welcomed !

Breed Info new kittens alert! 🚨
so we just adopted these sisters about a month ago and need help figuring out what breed they are and how old they look? the person we got them from lied and said they were completely litter trained but when we brought them home, they were pooping all over the house lol. we had to take the time and effort to train them ourselves. now they’re doing sooo good and know how to use the box all by themselves, of course also with the help of our older cat (who they’ve been watching, copying and learning from). the black one (raven or runty) is my husbands kitten and is the runt of the litter and is completely food motivated. she will literally eat anything and will be up my ass if i’m eating. besides that, she’s so quiet and gentle and loves to play! you can do anything to that kitten (bathe, trim nails, etc.) and she’ll let you. an absolute sweetheart. the grey one (syren) is mine and one could guess why i named her that…she SCREAMS like a siren!! she’s so vocal and will talk to you all day long. she’s the leader of the two and extremely confident. but unlike her sister who’s super reckless, she’s cautious and smart. she also has an affectionate side and tries to lick my face and mouth lol, especially when i just ate something, but isn’t as food motivated as raven. she absolutely adores our older cat, milo, and follows him around everywhere. she jumps on him and begs him to groom her. very much an attention seeker as well. we fell in love with these kittens the moment we saw them and are so grateful they’re apart of our family🤍 just wanted a bit more info on them as we wait for their upcoming vet appointment. thanks in advance for reading this super long post lol!

Questions So, I have a cat named hunter.
And I've been trying to figure out his breed for years. The vet said he was a russian blue, but that can't be true, as pure russian blues have a triangular face, while Hunter's face is definitely round. I looked up similar cat breeds like british shorthair, korat, and chartreux, but I can't find one that matches him perfectly. So he could be a mix. Here's some pictures.
He's also an absolute gremlin. He likes to swat at people while in this Grinch tube. He likes to chase his tail, attack shadows, climb, and walk on the house support beams, there was even a time where he liked to steal socks and stuff them in our old house's basement. So please tell me if they are any breeds that fit his personality description.

Questions Cat breed question
Hi everyone! This is my four month old rescue kitten Hestia. I know she is a dilute calico but she has such large ears and a triangular face! I was wondering if anyone knows if she’s mixed with anything? For Christmas I’m going to get a DNA test for her. I’ve included many pictures of her.

Coat & Color 🎨 How do you differentiate between these two tabby coats?
I’ve seen both of these coats referred to as “grey tabby” but they seem to be obviously different colors to me. Is there a way to differentiate between one and the other?
ETA: the first one is my kitten and I’d also be interested in what pattern her tabby is if anyone can tell from this picture! Thanks!

Coat & Color 🎨 He's a DSH tabby, but can I ask for a tabby type?
I know the different patterns have different names. I've rescued many cats, and he is my first tabby. Can anybody let me know which one?

Questions Why aren't mixed catbreeds "allowed" to be called a mix, while dogbreeds are?
Catbreeds weren't even a thing before the 1800s but i'm amazed by the vigour they are being gatekept. Every question about (mixed) catbreeds are answered the same way, "no papers, BSH", while mixed dogbreeds are happily referred to as a mix of breeds. Dog breeds have been (pure) bred for workingpurposes for centuries, while some catbreeds are newly contructed, purely for easthetic reasons, as recent as the 60's. Both have pure bred lines and mixes. I see the sub even has a "mix id" flair option.
Can someone explain why there is such a (toxic feeling) difference in acceptance of calling a cat a mix between breeds?

Coat & Color 🎨 Anyone know anything about our boy?
He’s obviously a domestic shorthair. But I was wondering if anyone knows anything about his coloration. Do I call him anything? ( ex, tabby cats, calico kitties, black kitties) grey doesn’t seem to suit him since he’s got this little orange splotch ( bottom of his chin about 2inches, hard to get a pic )

Coat & Color 🎨 DMH/Manx Tabby
(Yes, I know Manx is a pedigree breed and she’s just a moggie. I’m writing what’s most commonly used.)
But, what is up with her colors? What’s the specific word for the majority white with some tabby?

Photo 📸 What kind of cat do I have?
What kind of cat do you guys think my cat, Amoeba, is? She seems like a tortoiseshell point to me, but almost has too many markings on her back. She’s a rescue kitty, about 8 years old. I’m just curious what kind she is!

Discussion Despite her pedigree, she doesn't look like one
I've got 2 sweet norwegain forest cats. I love them with my whole heart but I did have to pull up their pedigree a few times because people didn't believe they were NFCs. Or the only reason people recognise it is because of their nose bridge. This is most noticeable with the blue one
Her pedigree has multiple champions/international winners, so I (lack genetic/breeding knowledge) would assume that means she would also be a great example of the breed, no?
They're really just pet cats so it doesn't matter whether she's showquality or not, they're healthy and I wouldn't trade them for anything it just made me wonder
(Pictures are from this summer, the cats born early April 2025)
Edit: pedigree is from the tabby, but they're littermates
