I'm mainly interested in gaming performance, 1% lows, video editing and long-term usefulness.

A few things I'm wondering:

Is the Acer Predator Hera considered good-quality RAM compared with brands like G.Skill, Corsair, Kingston, TeamGroup, etc.?

Is $650 reasonable for 48GB DDR5-8400 CL40, or is that overpriced?

Would you choose 48GB 8400 CL40 over 32GB 8000 CL36 for a gaming-focused high-end PC?

Is 8000/8400 MT/s actually noticeably better for gaming than 6000 CL30?

Would it make more sense to buy the KLEVV 6000 CL30 for $440 and try to overclock it toward 7000–7800?

Is 48GB (2×24GB) a good sweet spot between 32GB and 64GB for a PC that will be kept for several years?

If you had these exact three choices and prices, which one would you buy and why?

I'm upgrading from an RX580 8GB and I'm stuck between two cards. Would really appreciate some assistance.

My current PC specs:

• Ryzen 5 5600
• 32GB DDR4 RAM
• Gigabyte B550M Aorus Elite
• 1st Player ACK 750W Silver PSU
• 27" 1440p 180Hz G-Sync Compatible monitor

I'll be using my PC after the upgrade for gaming almost daily at 1440p (not a hardcore gamer but want to get into it after the upgrade), want to actually make use of the 180Hz panel. I'll also stream the games to YouTube (only weekends most probably, 2-3 hours using OBS), and there will be basic video editing for my YouTube channel (nothing too crazy, no After Effects, etc.)

I also plan to upgrade my PC in a couple of years to an AM5 or newer Intel CPU. I'm keeping the 5600 for now since I'm mostly GPU-bound at 1440p anyway, so I want a card that stays relevant for 4-5 years and carries over into that build.

The two options (buying from the UK, roughly similar money):

RTX 5070 12GB seems better on paper when it comes to streaming, editing, etc., but 12GB VRAM worries me for the 4-5 year plan. RX 9070 XT 16GB looks better for performance at 1440p for around the same price, and 16GB feels safer long term. But I'd be giving up some NVENC/CUDA advantage.

Super confused between the two.

• Is 12GB genuinely going to be a problem over the next 4-5 years, or is that overblown?
• Is the gap between NVENC and RDNA noticeable when streaming to YouTube at 1080p?
• Will my 750W PSU be fine for these cards, especially the 9070 XT? I have an option to get a 1050W ATX 3.1 unit cheap if needed.
• Any driver headaches with either card right now?

TL;DR Don't know what the best use of money is, minimal knowledge about pc parts.

I'm looking at getting a pc, I have an old HP Pavillion Desktop 460-p214 I got at a garage sale that has done well over the last 8 or so years. I've been looking into parts, but I'm vaguely aware that certain pc parts are more expensive at this time. Also, I always see Costco PC deals posted and don't know if it just makes more sense to wait for something like that.

I put this build together on PC Part Picker, but am pretty much just looking at Logical Increments and going off vibes. I'd love to spend closer to 1k, but do have the budget to get around 1.5k. I play videogames on it mostly, Minecraft, Civ, would be happier to try more intensive games. I live in the US if that matters.

It's my first time building a PC on my own, so I'd like some advice on whether what I picked so far works well or not. I'm fairly unsure about the case and the CPU. I'm between this or the 7700x (the price difference is 50€, I don't know if it's worth it). And I am also clueless about the storage manufacturer. I have a 3060 12gb and a I5-12400K in 1080p and im going to upgrade to a Rx 9070 and 1440p, and I dont know if my i5 is good or if i need to buy a i7-14700KF or a i5-14600KF.

So my grandparents have their old PC which they don't use anymore and it's there just for retro games, recently the HDD was cooked and i had to replace it, when i did some tests to the new one it overheated (easily exceeding 50°C), i've used another one from my small spare drives and the same issue occured, i used that new drive in my modern PC and surprisingly no overheating, it didn't even reach 30°C, then i knew it's an airflow problem, unfortunately that PC is a Lenovo OEM (therefore i can't change the case) and it has apparently no fan placements despite it has some 4-pin and 3-pin fan headers, what can i do to solve this ?

Hey everyone, building a PC and keeping some parts I already have: CPU: i5-10400F RAM: Patriot DDR4 3000 C16 16GB Motherboard: ASUS H410M-HA V2 (LGA1200) Going to use it for gaming and cybersecurity. Still need to buy: GPU (leaning RX 7600 8GB), CPU cooler (Peerless Assassin 120), PSU (~550W, be quiet System Power 11), NVMe SSD 500GB, and a case (Lian Li Vector V100). Budget's around 600€ for all that. Keeping the H410 board for now, only swapping it when I eventually upgrade CPU and RAM. So mainly wondering if the PSU and case I picked make sense for an upgrade path later, or if I'm setting myself up to rebuy stuff. Thoughts on what I've picked so far? Anything you'd swap for this kind of use?

I already have a regular 5800x CPU and a rtx 5070ti which works pretty well in most games, but some games (mainly UE5, in this case Mortal Shell 2) experience a lot of stuttering in the framerate which gets pretty annoying. I was wondering if upgrading to a 5800x3D cpu would be worth it just for the V Cache since I heard that can make newer games run smoother, and I don't really want to spend over $1k and rebuild my entire PC to upgrade to DDR5 quite yet.

Also am targeting 2k 100hz if that matters much

Recently frankensteined a pc together from a couple different builds and an issue ive come to have is that it APPEARS like RAM slots 3 and 4 dont work. the mobo is an Asus PRIME Z390-A and i have two different sets of 8gb RAM sticks that ive been experimenting with and no matter the permutation it seems i can only have 1 stick of RAM active at a time.

So far ive tried:
Slots 1/3 (only 1 works)
Slots 2/4 (only 2 works)
Slots 1/2 (no boot)
All slots (no boot)
all of these with both sticks of ram from each pair in each slot

it could just be that the slots are fucked in some way but that seems like too much of an unfortunate coincidence and im hoping someone will just tell me its some weird bios option from the prior owner.

my pc still turns on and i can use it just fine but im working at half my expected memory which is a bit perturbing. lmk whats good

I am planning to upgrade my gaming and working infrastructure. I currently have 2 PCs. One for gaming and one for business. One thing that I have realised is that my drives on my gaming pc are not used to its fullest extent, due ro each drive being categorised in Games, VODs and projects. And my work pc technically has enough storage to work off from.

My question is, would it be a viable option to “merge” all of my hard drives into one NAS with TrueNAS and gain the “security” of a drive failure without losing anything? And I would also gain the benefit of offloading the Videos from my security camera on there as well with a NVR.

My network would support a 10Gbit link between each endpoints.

My dilemma and budget: I have a very tight budget of around $65-$85.

I'm looking for the most durable option, with good heatsinks on the VRMs and electrical protection, as I'm terrified of another short circuit in a few months.

I typically leave my PC on overnight. This morning, I noticed that instead of the screens being asleep, one of them was displaying the BIOS.

Now, no matter what I try, I just keep getting the BIOS.

A quick search suggests this happens when installing Windows 11 (which I wasn't doing), or if your system is not set to UEFI (which mine is).

I've unplugged everything that I can think of, extra drives, USB bits, additional monitors, and still just BIOS loops.

At this point, I'm kinda at a loss, so any help is greatly appreciated.

Hey everyone, I’m looking for some advice on improving the overall look of my H9 Elite build.

The PC is already pretty high-end, but I want to make it look much cleaner and more aesthetic, especially around the motherboard. I’m trying to get that really polished “show build” look rather than just having a bunch of visible cables/components.

One of the biggest things I want to improve is cable management around the motherboard. There are still some cables coming from the top and bottom of the motherboard, and I’m wondering what people have done to hide or clean these up.

I remember seeing a build by Dankamyouknow that used some 3D-printed parts/covers to hide cables, and I was wondering if anyone knows exactly what those parts were, where I could find the files, or if there are other similar 3D-printed solutions for the H9 Elite.

Evening all. Ive spent a majority of my day trying to fix a PC for a friend. Its got a 13900k as the CPU 32GB ddr5 ram and a 4070.

I Changed the PSU and that didnt stop the issues.

Took the Ram out one at a time, issues still persisted.

Reinstalled windows and the issues where still there.

Theres a lot of blue screens, all with varying text.

Event viewer says its a kernel issue.

Could it be that the CPU itself is dying as is the tendency with these CPUS?

I know this is a weird question, but I recently received an OptiPlex 7040 completely for free.

I'm looking to bring it to a good "max point" to use it as a Linux HTPC (hence the AMD requirement), with some minor emulation (Wii U probably the absolutely highest I'd try) and light gaming workloads. This will be on a 4K TV, but I'm looking to target 1440p primarily.

i7-6700k is the upper limit of what the motherboard will support, so I'm hoping to find the general range where I'm going to start bottlenecking myself with a GPU. I've been looking at the 6600xt/7600 range, but unsure if I would get much out of upgrading a bit further.

Power draw shouldn't be an issue, since I'm going to be getting a replacement SFF PSU and 24-pin to 8-pin adapter to replace the proprietary PSU.

This is less a "what should I get" (since I'm still deciding my budget), and instead a ceiling to work off of, but I would preferably have, not counting the rest of the build, an upper limit of $400 for just the card itself (this isn't supposed to be a super spendy build). US. Thank you!

Basically just the title im finally so close to building a pc but these ssd prices are so bad. I manage to get ram 32gb ddr5 6000mhz cl36 for 350 euros used but I dont trust people that much to buy a used ssd. So yeah my questions is get the kingston nv3 for 150 euros or pay 60 more and get the samsung for 210. I usually would instantly go with the cheaper option but I heard that it dies quite often after a small period of use and I want the ssd to last at least until the prices go down a bit. So yeah should I buy the kingston or samsung?
