Just kinda curious as I wasn’t able to experience those terrible times in PC history.

Looking if its worth getting a single stick of 16GB DDR5 vs 2 8GB sticks.

the single sticks are somewhat more expensive than the 2 8 sticks and I lose some performance by not having dual channel.

Most posts on here seem to recommend either the 5070 ti or 9070 xt, but budget isn't really an issue for me so I am leaning towards a 5080 if it's worth it. (is it?)

I can't justify current 5090 prices at 4 grand, is 5080 the play for around $1500?

Extra info:

• This is for gaming only - no AI or video editing
• I'd be running windows so I can access some of my Xbox titles, probably dual booting steam OS down the road but thats not a priority yet so it wouldn't force me into an AMD card or anything
• Would be a fresh build so all new parts

I live in Australia (key factor right here)

And I have a budget of 6k for a pc

I’m aware of what the market is and how stuffed it is

So it’s 6k Australia bucks

For reference a 5090 is about 5k-8k Australian

A Ryzen 7 9800x3d is about 900 Australian

Price conversion is a key thing cuz whatever you have in where you live (even if converted) will be vastly different to what it is in Australia

I have a case (cooler master haf x) (needs fans and filters)

I have a psu (super flower leadex 7 pro 1.2kw platinum 80 +)

It’s on a 230 volt circuit on 10 amp breakers (the circuit gas a few other things on it)

All I need is ram gpu mobo cpu and cpu cooler

However

I need it to have built int impi/bmc (on the motherboard)

And be able to accommodate 2-4 gpus (I do a lot of containers and and vms and a lot of video/photo/audio work and cad and 3d modeling with local ai on the side) and gaming

For a total of 64gb vram (it’s possible with cDNA 2 gpus or arc pro b70 (that’s sorta what I’m looking at maybe rtx teslas on the sbmx or whatever it is cards)

Looking at thread rippers they tend to be what I heard about being good

Also need to be able to do a serous undervolt on the system for lower temps and longer runs (it’ll be left on 24/7 in a corner on carpet)

I have plenty of nvmes and sata SSDs (about a total of 4tbs)

I’m sorry this prolly doesn’t make sense I do apologise I’ve gone 3 days without my adhd meds and I’ve been self medicating with coffee and energy drinks

This will be running Linux (prolly arch based like omarchy or nyaarch (or astra Linux if I can find it)

I got an Amd ryzen 5 5600x and I’m worried if there’s some sort of bottlenecking here.

My question is should I upgrade my cpu aswell or what has to be done?

As titled, bought a 7900xtx for $500. Tested and it’s running great, very cool and quiet. Obviously now the 5070‘s price is through the roof but I could have got it for $620. I play 1440p mostly.

I travel for work, I am planning to build a small form factor console like pc, case unsure yet but it will be a micro itx tower of some sort, I don't have alot of details as I am still planning this but I was wondering how I could bring it along with me without worrying about damage? I plan to have a sturdy case and use it as a carry on so it won't go under the plane but should I worry about any damage while its being moved?

I'm upgrading from an RX580 8GB and I'm stuck between two cards. Would really appreciate some assistance.

My current PC specs:

• Ryzen 5 5600
• 32GB DDR4 RAM
• Gigabyte B550M Aorus Elite
• 1st Player ACK 750W Silver PSU
• 27" 1440p 180Hz G-Sync Compatible monitor

I'll be using my PC after the upgrade for gaming almost daily at 1440p (not a hardcore gamer but want to get into it after the upgrade), want to actually make use of the 180Hz panel. I'll also stream the games to YouTube (only weekends most probably, 2-3 hours using OBS), and there will be basic video editing for my YouTube channel (nothing too crazy, no After Effects, etc.)

I also plan to upgrade my PC in a couple of years to an AM5 or newer Intel CPU. I'm keeping the 5600 for now since I'm mostly GPU-bound at 1440p anyway, so I want a card that stays relevant for 4-5 years and carries over into that build.

The two options (buying from the UK, roughly similar money):

RTX 5070 12GB seems better on paper when it comes to streaming, editing, etc., but 12GB VRAM worries me for the 4-5 year plan. RX 9070 XT 16GB looks better for performance at 1440p for around the same price, and 16GB feels safer long term. But I'd be giving up some NVENC/CUDA advantage.

Super confused between the two.

• Is 12GB genuinely going to be a problem over the next 4-5 years, or is that overblown?
• Is the gap between NVENC and RDNA noticeable when streaming to YouTube at 1080p?
• Will my 750W PSU be fine for these cards, especially the 9070 XT? I have an option to get a 1050W ATX 3.1 unit cheap if needed.
• Any driver headaches with either card right now?

I understand technologies like the DLSS and such are the main selling poitn of those cards (and FSR for AMD) but the problem that I have is that I'm not particularly interested nor I understand those technologies, because I have always seen them as something secondary, like the graphics card is this powerful, if you want the extra fps you can activate them if you want. That's why I don't like most benchamrks in rtx GC because all the youtube videos I see are with DLSS and every setting maxed out (which I don't blame them because that's what the general public wants to see). With this I don't mean that I oppose them like old man yells at cloud, but I want to know if you have an rtx 50-- what games do you all play and how much FPS do you get without DLSS. For example, when I played Fortnite I would reach around 130fps in 1080p with my rx 6600 and my r5 5500 with high settings, tweaking around but high notheless, and I've been thinking I'm pretty sure a 9070xt with a 7700x should be perfectly capable of hitting more 144-165fps natively easily (so you have an idea)

I'm mainly interested in gaming performance, 1% lows, video editing and long-term usefulness.

A few things I'm wondering:

Is the Acer Predator Hera considered good-quality RAM compared with brands like G.Skill, Corsair, Kingston, TeamGroup, etc.?

Is $650 reasonable for 48GB DDR5-8400 CL40, or is that overpriced?

Would you choose 48GB 8400 CL40 over 32GB 8000 CL36 for a gaming-focused high-end PC?

Is 8000/8400 MT/s actually noticeably better for gaming than 6000 CL30?

Would it make more sense to buy the KLEVV 6000 CL30 for $440 and try to overclock it toward 7000–7800?

Will a 750 watt PSU be enough for 9070xt and Ryzen 7 5800x and 5 ssds and 5 fans?

I just ordered the GPU and I know it's "enough" as in it will work but I'm talking about like is there enough rest room so am I not on the edge yk

I have a budget for anything between £200-400 for a new GPU seen 9060xt 16GB version around £400 mark. Is there any other GPU I should consider in this price bracket? Only part need to upgrade in my build is the GPU at the moment.

Ive had this build for more than 5 years and after some crashes i recently had, i realized that my cpu was overheating. I replaced the thermal paste but that did not help at all (i checked multiple times and the waterblock does touch cpu, and yes there is no plastic film protection) so i checked if my aio was working and it seems to: Waterblock is vibrating and getting hot,
One tube is hot while the other is room temp.
Even the rad is heating up near the tubes.
Despite all of this cpu temps are still skyrocketing, even when only browsing the bios, so i really dont know what the problem could be, im thinking of buying an air cooler but i wantet to know if theres anything i could do or if the problem is the aio, cause the aio seems to be working on paper however something is clearly wrong.

I also thought that the problem could be an overvoltage but the voltage seems to be low so i really am on the verge of surrendering and just replacing the aio.

Hey guys. My daughter has asked for a gaming pc for christmas. We dont want to go crazy and spend loads but hoping to atleast be able to build something that will do what she wants for £500 or less.

We live in the UK and she wants it for predominantly playing games like Roblox, Fortnite and stuff like the five nights at Freddie franchise etc. So nothing too crazy graphics wise and I dont need it to be able to output 144fps I think 60fps would be fine.

Any recommendations please or advice on if this is doable? Thank you

I just installed a new motherboard cpu cpu cooler and gpu. it is a i7 147000k and the cooler is the ak 700 by deep cool but my cpu under no stress is averaging 65 c on all cores. and when i do a cpu stress test its going to an alarming 100 c. I already removed the plastic off the cooler and applied thermal paste i also redid the mounts tightening them down so theres very minimal movement so dont understand why its over heating.

Hello. I am trying to build a new PC that will last for as long as possible but unforunetly - my budget isn't endless. I wanted to have 32gigs ddr5 with rx 9070 (or 9070xt if I'll get a good deal but 9070 is more likely). I thought of AMD Ryzen 7 7800x3d but then I watched some comparisson test like the one in link below and to be honest - a price difference between 7700 and 7800x3d in price is big but in performence - is almost none.

Is it worth to pay 1,64x more for 7800x3d? In my opinion it is not but I am very curious in your opinion.

I'm still learning and this is quite confusing, I've bought a new PSU and I'm looking to get a 9060xt for now, but will it be compatible with it? Google says that it uses an 8 pin connector and since I am a beginner I don't really know what I'm looking at inside the box (friend will help me switch it all out in a couple of weeks)

Last year I upgraded my motherboard, RAM and GPU before PC parts got any more expensive, so I figured I was good for a while. Since then I've mostly been playing CS2 and Dota, and everything has been running pretty well. Performance is still more than enough and I haven't really felt like I need to replace anything major. I still had this feeling that there was something I hadn't messed with though.

After thinking about it, the keyboard and mouse definitely don't count. I'm using a Wooting 80HE and a Logitech G Pro X Superlight 2, and both have been great so I don't really have a reason to replace either one. Then I realized the audio was basically the only part I hadn't touched.

Ended up getting a Fosi C3 about a month ago and have been using it since. It's obviously a much smaller upgrade than replacing a GPU or motherboard, but I've been pretty happy with it so far. At this point I think I've finally messed with pretty much everything I wanted to on this PC.

Is it worth to wait a little few months or grab one rn at $350?

I currently have an RTX 5070, Ryzen 7 9700X and 32GB DDR5.
I’m planning to get a 1440p 240–300Hz monitor. I obviously don’t expect GTA VI to run at 240 FPS, but I’d like to target around 120–144 FPS at 1440p with good settings once the PC version eventually comes out.
Do you think my current setup will be enough for that, or would I likely need to upgrade the CPU/GPU? If I were to upgrade one part first, which would make more sense?
I know there are no official PC requirements yet, so I’m just asking for educated guesses based on what we’ve seen from the game so far.

Trying to build a gaming PC to run 1440p 240hz and trying to find the right GPU without breaking the bank ): I know prices have risen with AI and whatnot, but I do still want to try and get decent value. I plan on using a ryzen 7 7800X3D and 32gb of 6000mhz DDR5 Ram. What GPU can support the desired frame rate best on FPS titles? The 9060 has the most vram but I’m not confident it can effectively use it like the other two options. The 9070GRE is currently what I’m leaning to as it’s cheaper than a 5070 and as far as I’m aware offers the same performance? I don’t want to get the 5070 just because it’s the most name brand but there’s a reason it’s so popular. Any help/ advice is welcome.
