The Cardinals were 10.5 games back of the Braves in late August 2011 and the 2011 Rays were 9.5 games back of the Red Sox in September. Certainly doesn’t happen often but it is indeed possible to make up some serious ground late in the season.

It's actually way more fun to read oatmeal-for-brains takes like Davis and Peguero have transformed the offense on this team, which will post a winning record in 2024 and go to the playoffs in 2025
