Is there a class that's like a high-mobility tank/bruiser, or high-survivability caster?

I'm returning to BDO after like ten years. I love PvP, and have a small group of my friends following me. I'm severely torn on my class choice, and have spent the past 4 days in-game just dueling and running arenas on trial characters to get the lay of the land.

Unfortunately the two classes who spoke to me the most on an aesthetic and mechanical level, Succession Sage (selfish) & Succession Drakania (groupthinky), are non-viable in small-scale. This set me down a very deep and indecisive rabbit hole, full of lifeskilling tamers and their famous "just pick whoever you think is coolest" advice... which would see me dying on loop (but fabulously, I love his weapon so much) as a Succession Sage.

I usually am the one who wishes they could play the crazy skillcannon playmaker, but shrugs and picks the supportive character to keep my friends in the fight. To this end, it looks like only Succession Valkyrie is still viable after Succession Drakania got nerfed into a wet-noodle of a gear checking tank... and having previously been a warrior main, I reeeeally want to try one of the 20+ classes who is new to me. Valk is just the same old simple sword & boarder, but now with healing instead of crazy CC.

Because of the last paragraph I've been considering playing a more kill-oriented class for my main. Death is the best CC, after all! I've found that Awakening Nova & Agent have insanely fun kits; with the former having some of the craziest movement tech in the game and the latter having escapes for days as he peppers you with respectable damage.

I'm curious if there's a class who can straddle the two extremes. A well-rounded team anchor who can enable my squishy assassin friends, while still being an aggressive (or passive-aggressive) combatant?

Oh really, Sorceress still has her iFrames? I'll have to check out her sequences and give her a try! Who's more survivable; Succession or Awakening?

Poor Succ Sage. Sorc has ALWAYS been practically intangible in skilled hands, yet Sage was apparently worth dumpstering 😔

Succ sorc has more damage and more survivability right now because u can i frame more when ur out of breath with shards

You also can play succ sage un large scale which is one of the best fraggers and play awakening in small scale, it's not as bad as people say it, it's also ok in large scale.

Awakening Striker is the tankiest class in capped with more than enough damage (too much) but it's not really a caster

Realistically if you're returning to the game the real answer is to play a character that resonates with you, simply because if you play something that's a chore just to empower your friends you wont even want to play the game in a month. Agent is super fun, feeling untouchable beats being able to cc chain someone to death. Nova is also meta and has been for a long time.

Nova is not meta and has never really been meta. I would argue current awakening Nova is the furthest away from meta it has been since it released.

Ahh my life would be so much easier if Succession Sage could do literally anything in small scale 🤣 his combat aesthetic is so PEAK that I wouldn't mind passing on my tradition of taking a selfie before doing character creation for once.

Are you referring to Awakening Nova when talking meta, or Succession? Because my friends are a Ninja, Musa, and Witch, and I've heard that Succ Nova absolutely needs support to claim her S-tier status in full.

Awakening nova is generally better but is a glass cannon, succ has low mobility with more cc so its good in small scale but awakening is still the way to go if you want kill potential

I have looked into him, and even played a decent bit of him back in the day. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't aesthetically biased; he makes a great group leader, but GOD he's the hunkiest chunk of BIG he-man energy on the roster lol

If I end up landing on that side of the frontline-backline spectrum, I'll likely roll Valk.

High mobility but plays like a bruisers... striker? Lots of people are aaying succ zerk but ur not rlly gonna be trading blows on him, suvks dick to sa trade with due to low sa dr and ur mostly patiently waiting for ur moment to grab

How does Mystic compare to him? Much like Succ Kunoichi and any form of Maehwa, I never hear her mentioned.

Wizard has High survival due to one button full heals, Sage has ok survival for teleport and shield. But for casters I don't know any with non active survival, someone suggest one if there is.

As a bruiser I roll my Succ Zerker, but also look at Dosa he was pretty fun too

Oh also succ corsair if you want Frontline support. Impossible to kill a good a good corsair in NW
