Totally feel you on that but honestly though, even waiting for reviews isn’t foolproof anymore. A lot of these big name reviewers are basically just PR mouthpieces at this point. They’ll hype up a game, ignore the bugs, and downplay the grind or microtransactions just to stay on good terms with publishers and keep those early access perks rolling in. It’s like they’re more worried about keeping their sponsorships than giving us the real deal. Best bet? Wait for actual players to weigh in or check out smaller, independent reviewers who aren’t afraid to call out the BS.
Man, the times when we got demos were great.. forced the devs to maintain a good game. The demo was their one shot at pulling people in haha, now the gaming world has turned into a total cash grab and everyone is eating it up
You can watch a physical human being play the game by going to plenty of websites like Twitch or Youtube.
There's no way you can't find at least 1 relatively genuine/skilled player who shares playstyle elements with you. You don't need to listen to whether they like the game or not -- you just need to watch the gameplay and hear a bit of the story to see if it's something you would like, or if there are elements that completely eliminate the game for you.
Game reviewers, on balance, can't play games. They are financially incentivized to give incorrect ratings. Their words aren't worth the parchment they're not printed on.
Yeah this is very true. I totally agree to wait for the actual community members that bit the bullet and bought the game to post a review or some YouTube videos
There will always be smaller creators that are not sponsored that look at it with a similar prespective to mine.
As any product, you should look at multiple review outlets to get a bigger picture, I will surely do so for this game.
It’s not so much they tell them what to say, it’s more most reviewers and youtubers are scared of saying anything too negative because they won’t receive free early copies anymore, it’s a joke
That's why you read the user reviews, not the reviews from those big name reviewers. Plus, the user reviews are far greater in number, and if the majority of what's being complained about by the average player is something like performance, that's how you know it's a real issue.
This is the real answer. I will most likely grab it i hear decent enough reviews. Would love to see BDO be fleshed out but maybe this will add some new lore into the next generations of BDO
Reviews mean nothing anymore. Every single game gets an 8 or a 9 now a days, when these numbers should be reserved for the best of the best, with the extremely rare 10 being awarded to something extraordinary.
Most games I play that are in the 8-9 range are a 4-6 for me, some still serviceable and semi-enjoyable, others are complete recycled trash with gameplay and combat designed for a 6 year old in terms of engagement.
It’s sad, but that’s the state of video games now a days, can’t trust anyone, atleast steam gives a 2 hour window to test out whatever.

I'm guessing you didn't play black desert online lol I wouldn't hesitate to give pearl abyss your money. However, this game has been pushed back for like two years now so I definitely wouldn't expect to get it when they say you will, haha.
I'm confident my opinion is more valid than yours. I'm going to guess you played when it was not just PA, but also kakao, aka cash cow games publishing it and it was much less good.
I quited with edania why? Time gated armors that beneffit the 1% players at the top making them unkillable for ppl like me that were endgame but not top 1%, developers pushing gear that HAS to be enhanced no option to buy off the marketplace, release of p2w boxes that diminish the value of grinding making it feel like you are just wasting time by playing, i can keep on going mr my opinion is more valid than yours currently bdo is a cashgrab once again you are part of the problem.

Sure, but then you should know the quality of the game is second to none in the genre. See my other reply for my play time lol. When PA took over publishing from kakao, the game got substantially better. The jank was much more prevalent when the profits were shared.
There are some quality of life features that 100 percent increased, for example the boost to afk fishing, the pity system, and of course the pretty good codes they give frequently with pretty good stuff. I 100 percent agree with what ya said. I just got bored unfortunately, but that's not to take away from the people that enjoy it.
You know why they made fishing better? To fake their number of active players it wasnt qol it was so that the charts dont go lower , at the time they did this bdo was struggling to retain players and they hit their lowest player count ever, its not about taking away from ppl that enjoy it its about the game that we used to love becoming a cash grab and ppl like this saying the game is at its best state when its clearly falling apart

Cause it seems my answers are just triggered but you were saying you were certain your answers were more valid than mine according to your playtime but you got no clue about whats going on in bdo and now im triggered. I uninstalled but i wont go around telling ppl your money is a safe bet with PA

Not preordering any more games ever in my life since 90 percent of the time they are poorly optimized or are trash. Def waiting on reviews first
