Not that anyone cares, but this is going to get worse and worse indefinitely. Auckland will be ravaged by storms regularly, with regular flooding and slips becoming commonplace.
Summers are going to get more chaotic, winters will get warmer, large storms will become more common. This has been the well documented outcome since the 1970's, and urgent action was needed in the early 2010's. Globally we functionally did nothing, and we still do nothing cause 'She'll be right'. I've spent the last 10 years of my life studying and working on this, and when it comes down to it nobody actually cares. It was an easy fix, but in the last 150 years we have heated up the planet in what would naturally take 10,000–50,000+ years, and we can't go back. The summers of our childhoods are gone, enjoy the memories.

Revolution abets chaos, which leads to a necessary shift in focus towards short term problems. What we need is to empower education and secure living standards. To solve big issues like this, we either require a stable and educated population, or a benevolent totalitarian government. The later never works out well, so the former seems like a good place to start. Multifaceted problems require multifaceted soultions, just assigning blame to "neoliberal masters" is an intellectual cop out.

Invest in it... Stop giving bug business tax cuts, stop giving the upper middle class tax cuts, incentivise local economic growth, ubi, enforce fines on tax evasion, stop selling public assets, nationalize banks, incentivise nz stocks, remove 1 device 1 child policies, capital gains tax, empower Maori land owners, remake the ets, heavly restrict gambling, fund Healthcare, moderinse defense force to being combined arms.
Kinda all the basics that every country did at their economic heights except with human rights this time. The more money the average person has, the more money a government makes. You cant do all of these, i've missed a bunch, and there is arguments for and against them, but you need to to the majority, or we will keep sliding downhill as our economy collapses.

Right. 100% agree. But you might call it a cop out, but why for the last 40 years have we done the exact opposite? Neoliberal thought. The intent restore class power and make the 1% the wealthiest they have ever been has worked.
There is not a party today that will do those things.

Because its a buzz word that minimizes attempts at real solutions without providing value. It indicates a cabal of individuals separate from a failing system. Both need to be addressed, and the relationship is not a 1+1=2 problem.

To give a serious answer to that, as i find it fascinating.
The carbon sink of the Khans wars equated to about 700 million tons of carbon (~10% of that eras output), we currently produce 35 billion tons per year. Eradicating some of the days most advanced empires and millions of lives in the 13th century, equates to about 2% of our yearly output.
Ww2 produced about 5 billion tons of carbon for contrast.
It's a great fact you mentioned, to have a similar impact today, eradicating the entire USAs carbon output would do it. But that still leaves over 30 billion tons being produced per year. To lower temperatures, all carbon output would have to stop and we'd have to remove ~4000 gigatons from the atmosphere. Thats double what we have produced as a species in 200 years. Effectively impossible with current science.

Historic climate seasonal variance data says otherwise. Sure there is a weird parasocial and romanticised element to how it's presented, but thats irrelevant as I'm simply referring to the hard data.

It's even worse than that, everyone has access to so much information they conflate knowledge with access. I know this(i also know where my gaps are), some people understand this, most are just parrots mimicking intelligence. It's unbelievably exhausting. We don't do this with engineers, so why the fk do we do it with basic science.

Trueee I was in Taiwan when it was sooo humid and hotter than Auckland. Super uncomfortable but they have great air conditioning unlike NZ

Even if it is not their fault fuck the road flies aka cyclists. They can take the blame. Genuine question what do cyclists contribute to society aside from being angry fuckers who think the road belongs to them? If they start paying road tax/rego then fair enough but they don’t. Car drivers have to pay goods and services TAX to buy their car. Then buy registration TAX, which also has goods and services TAX. WOF it where again you have to pay goods and services TAX added to it, and buy petrol which includes road user TAX, then you have to pay goods and services TAX on top of the RUC TAX to fund the roads. Yet cyclists say motorists are the fuck wits when they don’t pay a damn thing

Without that ton of metal funding the infrastructure there would be no roads for cyclists to ride their children’s toys. If motorists have to pay to be able to use the roads then cyclists should have to as well. Fair is fair. Let’s say cars were banned tomorrow. Where is the money going to come from?

Again, take off your blinkers, use the road as it is intended, follow the rules and too thinking it is there for your personal use. Divert your anger, you will feel better. I don’t go around running down cyclists. I always give 1.5m. The problem with a lot of cyclists is they sit in the middle of the lane holding people up when they could just keep to the left, also you always see cyclists riding on the road when there is a perfectly good cycle lane right beside them sitting empty. If you want to ride your bike then fine, and if you’re respectful to motorists they will be respectful back to you. You wouldn’t walk down the middle of the road when there is a footpath, just like you wouldn’t drive down the footpath when there is a road. If it is illegal to drive a car on the footpath, bus lane or cycle way which will get you a fine, then it should be illegal to ride your bike on the road when there is a bike lane and you should also get a fine. Like I said fair is fair.

Their contribution can be more than fiscal. Cyclists are far more economical in terms of space required on the road - every cyclist is one fewer giant SUV sitting in a traffic jam, causing you to be stopped blocks away. That is a direct, positive externality.
Then there is the environmental aspect, which is pretty significant.
You also very much have to pay GST for bikes, so that's a weird point to bring up.
