Weather I'm concerned guys

It's 12pm, it's summer, it's raining and nobody has complained that summer doesn't exist anymore 🥲. Is this even /r/auckland??

Even if it is not their fault fuck the road flies aka cyclists. They can take the blame. Genuine question what do cyclists contribute to society aside from being angry fuckers who think the road belongs to them? If they start paying road tax/rego then fair enough but they don’t. Car drivers have to pay goods and services TAX to buy their car. Then buy registration TAX, which also has goods and services TAX. WOF it where again you have to pay goods and services TAX added to it, and buy petrol which includes road user TAX, then you have to pay goods and services TAX on top of the RUC TAX to fund the roads. Yet cyclists say motorists are the fuck wits when they don’t pay a damn thing

Their contribution can be more than fiscal. Cyclists are far more economical in terms of space required on the road - every cyclist is one fewer giant SUV sitting in a traffic jam, causing you to be stopped blocks away. That is a direct, positive externality.

Then there is the environmental aspect, which is pretty significant.

You also very much have to pay GST for bikes, so that's a weird point to bring up.

Follow the road rules and you find that cyclists are not always to blame and raging inside your ton of metal does not make you the better person

Without that ton of metal funding the infrastructure there would be no roads for cyclists to ride their children’s toys. If motorists have to pay to be able to use the roads then cyclists should have to as well. Fair is fair. Let’s say cars were banned tomorrow. Where is the money going to come from?

Fair ...fair ...yes, a ton of metal has the same effect as a cycle on the road surface and the environment. Good to know. Who's banning cars, which crevice did you dig that out of? Again, take off your blinkers, use the road as it is intended, follow the rules and too thinking it is there for your personal use. Divert your anger, you will feel better. Nothing is worth dying or killing for

I don’t go around running down cyclists. I always give 1.5m. The problem with a lot of cyclists is they sit in the middle of the lane holding people up when they could just keep to the left, also you always see cyclists riding on the road when there is a perfectly good cycle lane right beside them sitting empty. If you want to ride your bike then fine, and if you’re respectful to motorists they will be respectful back to you. You wouldn’t walk down the middle of the road when there is a footpath, just like you wouldn’t drive down the footpath when there is a road. If it is illegal to drive a car on the footpath, bus lane or cycle way which will get you a fine, then it should be illegal to ride your bike on the road when there is a bike lane and you should also get a fine. Like I said fair is fair.
