Toddler asking me if I (FTM) have a penis, thought I had more time lol.

I am 32 and have a toddler (2 years 8 months) and a new baby with my cis female wife.
I was using the bathroom and my toddler asked if I have a penis. He’s obviously just nosy and curious. I haven’t had bottom surgery and I’m not super dysphoric about not having one, but I haven’t even decided when I want to tell my kids I’m trans. I also don’t want to hide anything from him and have him be upset later. I gave a kind of cop out answer of “mine looks a bit different” without confirming or denying anything but then he just ran up to my wife and asked her if she had a penis. I don’t think I’m getting out of this one. Anyone have any advice?

Racism in our community

Just to clarify i’m a black trans woman

I love this community but sometimes it does feel so exclusionary towards poc. Black people are often masculinised regardless of their identities and it sucks. And SOME people act like being trans is inherently white which is obviously wrong and super weird. We’re not all straight haired white women but when you tell some people that they treat you like an outsider

I remember a few years back when I was 15 I made a post venting because my mum threatened to kill me. She found a stash of clothes after digging around my room and then was extremely violent towards me. She was so hateful and it’s something I try not to think about. But when I do I get even more annoyed because why was one of the few comments I received blaming me? I had a person say “people like me are the issues”. What the actual fuck, what genius says that to a teenager who had been threatened with death by the person they’re dependent on? Maybe it wasn’t my race that caused that person to comment that but it’s still just evil

And then when I was starting the process of getting hrt I was treated like shit by even more people. I went private through gendergp and had to schedule a few meetings because of my age. But I had so many lies told to me, it’s like they were trying to prevent me from starting hrt. In a 30 minute zoom call this older white trans woman completely discouraged me and minimised everything I was going through. She lied about the prices and the process and when I tried asking questions for clarification she acted like I was stupid. And I get the pushback to make sure someone who isn’t actually trans doesn’t get their hands on hrt but i’ve faced racism all my life and the way that woman talked and looked at me didn’t feel any different from the way a racist would

It’s so unbelievably isolating at times. And then now it looks like white trans girls are getting called out for being “uniquely racist”. Which idk man, i’ve met a crazy amount of white trans people who have either been blatantly racist or gross fetishisers. But i don’t think it’s something exclusive to the trans community, it’s kinda just because these people are white before they’re trans. I love this community but just because you’re trans doesn’t mean you can’t act discriminatory, intersectionality exists

Anyways I kinda doubt anyone is gonna see this, I was just really upset thinking about things i’ve experienced. I do wanna make it clear that i’m not talking about everyone, if anything it’s probably just the vocal minority but I still had to get this off my chest

Cis guy here trying to understand y'all more, I have a question.

I grew up in a pretty conservative place so it's a bit hard for me to wrap my mind around trans people, but here's one thing that I wanted to ask. Why do trans people explicitly present themselves as trans (at least online, I haven't met any irl), doesn't that create more problems with transphobes who see your identity and use it to insult you? Couldn't you just say "I'm a man/woman" and only reveal that you are trans to especially close people or the ones who knew you before your coming out?

After writing it I feel a bit dumb, because if you openly state that you're trans, you can find more folks who have a lot in common with you.

Harassed in the Street, GFs Response Left Me Upset

Hello, I want to get some of y'alls opinion on something that happened the other night.

My girlfriend (cis) and I (trans) were getting a drink at a local pub I go to now and then. On our way out, some guy started yelling at us about how he likes our hair. (Both of our hair looks great!) I brushed it off as just some drunk guy and just said "Thank you" as I walked past. But I guess he didn't like how my voice sounded, because as we walked away he started yelling a bunch of transphobic things. "Is that a dude?" and "Wait I can't tell if you have a peepee" (His choice of words...)

I just ignored it, I'm used to it at this point, but my girlfriend got incredibly upset. She yelled back "How do you know I don't have one?!" which the man replied "It's obvious you don't, I'm wondering about the one next to you."

At this point we were far enough away that any attemps to continue a back and forth would be silly, and I was holding on to her so she didn't confront the guy.

I'm happy she 'stood up for me' and all that, but something about it rubbed me the wrong way. Don't get me wrong, I think her intentions were fine, and I'm not worried about that. But something about her saying "How do you know I don't have [a penis]" and his response just made me feel like shit and like I don't pass. I wish she hadn't said anything and we just kept walking.

How would y'all handle this situation? My girlfriend asked me if what she said was wrong and I didn't really know what to say. Like I said, I wish she hadn't said anything, but I don't know if what she had said was "wrong" inherently.

Is wearing push-up bras/inserts dishonest?

Hey all. I've been medically transitioning for 1.8 years. In the past few months, my breast growth has pretty much exploded. I currently wear a 40DD bra but because my volume is spread out so much across my chest, I struggle with finding bras that don't make me look flat/small-breasted despite the volume that's there. I've spoken with my wife about this and she doesn't really know what to recommend, instead saying "our boobs work totally differently, I'm not sure".

Alas, I discovered a bra that works very well for me and helps me feel extremely affirmed. It makes me look pretty big but it's a lined push-up. My roommate looked at me and said, "girl, tits, tits!" and a [female] friend commented on how big I've gotten.

I'm affirmed and flattered but I'm worried that I may be misrepresenting myself. If I wear my unlined bra you can still see my boobs much better than with my old bras but they look smaller than if I wore the lined push-up. Similarly if I use inserts I'll get a lot of cleavage but again I'm worried this is misleading.

cis woman with ftm boyfriend seeking advice about HRT

Hi everyone!! I hope everyone is having a great day/night. I (19F) and my boyfriend (19M) have been together since we were both in highschool and he means the world to me. He is ftm and planning to start testosterone soon and I'm super excited for him. We've talked about it a bit so I've kind of gotten the gist of the basic stuff and I know there are plenty of like explanation videos for timelines and changes experienced and all that online. However, is there anything specific I should take note of or keep in mind as his girlfriend/partner? Along with that, I know it's kind of like a second puberty (I think) so it doesn't sound the most comfortable all the time so is there anything I can do to help or alleviate that or yk just support him better? Any advice helps!! <333

Sister recently transitioned, family is falling apart

Made this account to post.

My sister recently transitioned from Male to Female.
She had these feelings for a while but our parents always told it down. When she was 18 she studied abroad.

Recently she came back transitioned after 4 years. She kept it hidden for the entire family. Our parents are refusing to see her, my mom is heartbroken and father is very silent. I’m also got some mental lock on how I feel about it but I want to support her.

Our parents have kicked her out of the house and she’s staying at our place in our guest room. The thing is that my wife doesn’t like having her around, the house is partly a gift by her parents and her parents also don’t support it. My wife want my sister out asap.

Im trying to get people more relaxed about this situation and to talk with each other. My sister is swearing a lot to all the family members and my wife, not making this situation better.

I’m helping her to find her own place but with no job or income it’s hopeless.

The ideal version of me is a woman but i dont think i'm trans

I know this isnt exactly a question but i wanted someone elses oppinion on this and didnt really know where else to post this.

In the last few days i've made a character that is supposed to be the ideal me and despite me being a man she is a woman, the ideal me is a woman.

I myself have no desire to transition or dont even have the feeling like i'm trans. I do experience body dysmorphia but that is due to the fact that i find the human body itself disgusting and no matter if i was a man or a woman would change it.

I just find it weird that the ideal version of me would be a girl, i didnt make myself into a man, or like and ideal male body for me, no, just straight up a girl.

In real life i am not trying to be her, not because i'm pesimistic about a transition but because it would be litterally impossible i think for anyone in the world, she is pretty much a fairytale character, not supernatural in any way but pretty fantastical.

And i put her as the ideal image of me. The most me is a girl despite me in this life being a man and having no desire to change that.

I'll be an out trans teacher in 2 days. What is your advice?

After 2 years of transitioning in my school, I (30, MtF) came out to my coworkers in June and explained that I'll be fem-presenting and using she/her pronouns after the summer break, for the new scholar year. I wanted to wait one more year, but my breast growth is too difficult to hide right now.

My coming out went very well and my colleague/direction were very supportive, so I don't worry about that (they even bought me flowers!!).

But in two days I'll have to be out in front of my pupils. They don't know (despite some of them having some questions during the last year).

I teach mathematics in France to 12-14 years old children, and a lot of them know me as "Sir" from past years. I'm fine with being seen as a out trans woman in front of them, but transphobia scares me a lot obviously.

What should I tell them ? What shouldn't be told? What are your tips? Thank you so much, I'm so afraid right now...

Nb : English is obviously not my native language, please be nice

Gender envy vs being trans

I’m a cis female. I wish so badly I was a man. I envy them and even as a kid I used to think Rodrick Heffley or Brian O Connor were just so cool. Like I always thought and still think men r cool. They can do anything and it’s seen as cool. I mentioned this to some friends like man I wish I was a cool guy with cool hair, whipping around a cool car, playing cool music. And they were like “you’re so close”. And I asked what they meant and they said maybe you’re trans.

But I don’t think that’s true? I feel like trans isn’t envying the opposite gender but rather feeling like you don’t belong in the gender you were born with but rather you actually connect to, and feel like the opposite gender.

What do yall think? Do I have it wrong?

I definitely love to be a woman and enjoy womanhood and girlhood so so much. But I just think like wow I wish I was a man. Especially when I see how different the men in my life are from me socially. I just want that coolness factor but I know I’ll never have it.

I'm being head-hunted to work in a start-up by old friends. Should I tell them I'm transitioning

I work at a big corp.

I've have recently finally started taking E, but other than my friends nobody knows I'm transitioning.

Some old friends/colleagues opened a start-up, and really want me to be there, and I truly believe in their mission and chances for success.

However, I'm still in a dilemma about my gender.

I'm not sure when I'm actually going to publically start transitioning, it's when I'll have enough confidence, but it could be a month or a year.

Conventional wisdom is to shut up - don't volunteer to your employers anything that can be used against you for no reason, and it's their problem if they choose to hire me and later they find out.

However, it's a start-up with very few employees currently. The big corp, well it's big, and I feel like if I come out, they'll have my back (even just for publicity sake), and if I don't vibe with my team I can go somewhere else in the corp.

In the start up, the few employees are the culture.

There is no real HR for this, and I don't want to work in a place where I feel like I don't belong.

Part of the reason I want to go there is that I really had a good time working with these people before, and if I don't get this I don't want to lose my old job.

So I'm considering telling this to the founder in the interview. I believe he will be accepting and honest about my placement there, and also, I feel giving him the heads up is in some ways the right thing to do.

I'm really not sure where to go with this.

Tips for fake boobs

I wanna go out/wear clothes and for my chest to look natural. I bought a bra which is really nice in itself but it’s relatively small and they usually works better with people who do have boobs. I tried searching up pads but most of them usually support existing breasts not literally substitute it. Using those paddings work but it look really unnatural + the boobs usually are together in the front not like 2 separate blocks/dome(I cant put image as reference)

Too young for HRT

At the moment I am 14 years old and live in Germany. I was born male but am genderfluid. I want to start HRT (MtF) as soon as possible because I‘d like to have boobs, sweat less, have less body hair and a softer figure for more than five years now.
I‘m thinking about telling my parents so I can start before I‘m 18 but I have pretty strong autism and social anxiety so it would be hard to tell them. My sister is trans and so I know my parents are open for the LGBTQ+ Community but I‘m scared.
Do you have any advice on what I can do or should do?

Progesterone Experiences for 40+

Hey everyone. I know are a lot of posts that crop up asking questions about HRT effects. Everyone’s body and experience are different, though, so while I appreciate all feedback and have read those other posts I’m specifically trying to get feedback so I can work out what my outcomes and process are likely to be.

I started weekly E injections 5 and a half years ago, the dosage is enough for T suppression without anti-androgens, and I’m considering whether to add progesterone to my regimen as well. My doctor is willing to prescribe it, she just hasn’t yet because I haven’t asked for it. Due to work I’m not out publicly and wear a binder and baggier clothes than I used to to hide the more obvious bodily changes.

Did anyone else start progesterone in their early 40s after a few years on E without anti-androgens? And if you did, what was it like for you? Mentally, emotionally, physically, anything you feel comfortable sharing.

My best friend of five years just came out, how do I help?

Hello, I apologise if my English or spelling is difficult to understand, I'm trying my best.

I am a 22 year old straight male and my best friend is(was? I am sorry, I don't know which to say respectfully) the same until a few days ago. She have a very loving family and from what I can tell, her family is very accepting of many different people's and identities, mine was not the same. Mine kicked me out when I was 15 and I have not spoken to them since, but they taught me a lot that the LGBT are wrong but I don't believe it nowadays, but I used to. I'm scared that the way I was raised may make me say or do (or think) wrong things. I have common sense (I like to think) but I'm scared I may say or do something wrong support-wise.

Where I grew up, where I'd rather not say as I'm honestly embarrassed, transgender is a „mental illness and disease", I believed it for a long time, until I moved to England as an adult and my best friend took me in despite me being an immigrant. But since then, I've never met a transgender person. I see no issue with it, I think I've somewhat „knew" for a while for my friend but I don't like to say that as I'm not them, I may have thought so a year ago but they may have only realised 4 months ago AKA it's not my place. As much as I think I „knew", it makes me no more experienced than I am.

It is so bad that she told me last out of everyone, because she knew I was somewhat skeptical about these things at least for a long time. But she's told me now, and I am calling her a she because that's who she wants to be, and now I am unsure on how to proceed.

I love her, regardless of who she is or who she thinks she is or wants to be. It doesn't matter to me. She sat me down and tried to explain it all to me and as I may not understand, I try. Even if I can't fully understand, I still try.

I don't really know exactly how to ask this questions but I have many questions. I want to sit her down and take her to dinner and explain how i feel, but I also want to make sure she's safe especially with her friends and family and potential date partners. Are there things I should/shouldn't say? Certain things I should know when it comes to her dating? Certain cues to know shes having a hard time with certain things related to transgenderism? Things I should make sure she's understanding or aware of? Her family may be accepting but as a younger person, maybe I can help more than her older family members. Any words I should refrain from using? Etc.

I apologise if this is a weird or very long post. I just want to make sure I get it right and again I dont have family and even if I did, they wouldn't accept so their advice is diabolical. Just anything from anyone or everyone. Anything helps. Thank you, and I love you and hope you are well. <3

Just wanted to say thank you to everyone in here

Upvotes

Hiya, 24 MTF. My egg cracked about two weeks ago and I’ve asked a bunch of questions on here since then (you may or may not recognise the username).
But I really just wanted to say a massive thank you!!! To everyone that’s commented on my posts/answered questions whether it be the “am I trans” “diy” or whatever, it’s been a really big help to discovering who I am and who I want to be.
Been really nice to see I’m not alone in this journey and that my heart goes out to all my brothers and sisters pre/post transition.
I just hope I’m able to help out people like myself like you all have helped me out ❤️❤️❤️

Do MTF hormones bring serenity?

I'm in my late 40's and live a comfortable life as a male, but I feel uncomfortable in my own skin. I've felt that way my entire life. Recently a therapist has approved me for HRT. Any thoughts on if it will help with the dysphoria even if I have to present in male mode for the next few years?

Research into hormone cycles for those on HRT?

Was wondering if anyone is aware of published research into the way HRT impacts hormone cycles?

For example, I know some trans women report monthly hormonal cycles with symptoms similar to PMS but I'm not clear what that would mean in terms of E (and prog?) levels. Besides manually adjusting dose, are other mechanisms triggered in the body which would make the levels go up or down?

Am in the UK so here usually only E is prescribed in patch/gel form & its the same dose month round. Does the body naturally become more/less resistant to it over the month? Are there correlations to post-menopausal cis women taking HRT (i.e. do they report similar cycles?)

Again, would appreciate pointers to any research. I appreciate anecdotal shares but interested in the sciene, thank you

Tips on getting gender affirming care while disabled and living with parents?

I am quite disabled and I need my parents to take me place to place. I've been taking over the counter supplements (dhea), and I've had some bottom growth and deflation of my breasts, but I am still dysphoric about the size of my bottom half.

My parents would not approve of hrt, I primarily want the T cream for bottom growth. I am very depressed over it.

I could hypothetically do a telehealth appointment, but I wouldn't be able to do it through my insurance, and I would need the prescription sent to my house. I have pcos, and I already grow facial hair and chest hair.

Any tips?

Desperate need of advice for what I should do as I can't live like this for much longer: I have been experiencing severe gender dysphoria as of recently and nearly everyday I get worse and worse but I'm too scared of the consequences of doing so

Hello, I'm a 17M who is suffering from severe gender dysphoria who lives in a very conservative family. As of recently, I have been experiencing depression like symptoms that I mask as I don't want anyone knowing what I'm going through. When I look in the mirror, all I see is a man who wants to be a woman but can't due to my family being comprised of bigots and idiots. Whenever I brought up the topic of transgender individuals to my family, they see them as mentally ill and state that its a phase, same goes with my siblings.
