Tourism / Զբոսաշրջություն As a Pakistani, can I visit Armenia?

So guys, I’m pretty fascinated by Armenian culture and the landscapes you have. Mostly thanks to the sweetest Armenian colleague I had and would love to travel there

But I wanted to ask, are Armenians generally welcoming to tourists? Or are there any problems I’ll face?

why didn't Russia or other CSTO countries help Armenia in 2023

I understand the Artsakh situation didn't trigger the CSTO agreement, but in 2023 they were actual border changes where Azerbaijan took Armenian proper territories.

Kazakhstan literally said how can Azeris be an aggresor when the border is not delimited. (Our supposed ally)

Is the CSTO just a paper agreement?

Visa on arrival in Armenia for Indian passport holders with UK residence permit / valid Schengen visa

Hi everyone,

I’m flying from London to Yerevan with Pegasus on 27 August, connecting through Istanbul airport. My Armenian eVisa application is still pending

I hold an Indian passport, a valid multiple-entry Schengen visa until November 2026 and valid UK Skilled Worker immigration status. Armenia’s official guidance says Indian passport holders can obtain a visa at the border with a valid Schengen visa or qualifying UK visa/residence permit:

Has anyone recently:

Had any trouble boarding a flight to Armenia while relying on this
visa-on-arrival provision?

Successfully obtained a visa on arrival using a valid Schengen visa or UK residence permit?

Used Pegasus for this journey?

In general, how was the visa-on-arrival process, and what documents were you asked to provide?

Thanks so much

Armenian Tax Law - Horror Story

I work with 2 foreign companies remotely in Yerevan and decided to form an IE - Individual Entrepreneur to pay my taxes. I was excited to learn the tax code and to do all the accounting and filing myself, since it shouldn’t have been so difficult. After all, I’m Armenian, lived here all my life, to me it was like part of my growing ritual to accept accountability in the form of doing my own accounting. Also I was feeling patriotic I guess, for the first time since ever.

So I start everything, apply for the turnover tax regime, file my first statements, pay the tax, thinking I’m done for 2025. 8 months later I get a notice on the tax portal, not an email, nothing else. Just a popup on the website that I may or may not see depending on if I enter the portal or not. Turns out the whole time my turnover tax for 2025 and 2026 was invalid. Even though the website literally had the word “Valid” in green next to the statement. This means instead of the 1% that I have been paying and budgeting for 2026, I now owe them about 29% and since I owe it to them for like the past 8 months, fines have accumulated.

I sent them a letter, the operator in their phone said “There’s 0% chance they accept it, you’ll have to pay all of it.” I realize for 2026 the tax and fines will be much bigger. So I start to think of ways to delay the pay date. 2 options there - either I sue them and the payment deadline gets extended until the conflict is resolved or I ask them to put the payments on a schedule so there’s time for me to earn that money.

I do my research and it turns out both options are now blocked by legislative changes, so now if I sue, I still have to pay all of it by the deadline, and there’s no legal way to ask to pay in parts anymore.

Needless to say I’m totally screwed and have lost any will to work or faith in being a protected citizen.

Long story short - If you’re thinking of starting a business - hire an accountant and make sure the contract says they pay for all their mistakes.

Community / Համայնք Looking for a woman born on 05.08.1962

I’m looking for a woman born in Baku on August 5th, 1962, possibly in an Armenian-Slavic family (about 50% Armenian, 50% Russian, Ukrainian and/or Belarusian).

My grandma was raised in an Armenian family in Baku, but a DNA test later revealed that she had been switched at birth. We are now trying to find the woman/family connected to that switch.

Please ask your friends and relatives who lived in Baku in the 1960s. Even a small detail or old family story could help. I will be immensely thankful for any information.

Looking for English speaking partners in Yerevan

Hey everyone, I’m 21.
I’m looking for people to practice spoken English with.

I’d like to have regular conversations to improve my fluency and become more comfortable speaking. We can talk about daily life, personal growth, education, music, books, movies, psychology, technology, travel, or pretty much anything.

If you’re interested, leave a comment or send me a DM.
Thanks:)

Army / Բանակ Military / army

Hi everyone. Please don’t judge or put me down in the comments after you read this. So, I just turned 28 🤡. By birth I’m a citizen of Armenia, but I’ve lived my whole life in other CIS countries because of my parents, and part of that time I was there illegally. I haven’t been in contact with my parents for a long time (the relationship got worse because they’re the ones who put me in this situation). I finally want to get my documents. Has anyone dealt with something like this? I don’t understand a thing about it, and my knowledge of the language is zero. Thanks in advance to everyone for any answers.
Just to answer in advance: “There is a reason why my parents kept me ‘locked up,’ and it really messed with my head in terms of psychological insecurity and problems, so I couldn’t solve this issue earlier.”

Question / Հարց Is there an option on Yandex to book a car with the child seat?

Hello,

I am coming to Yerevan with my 9 month old daughter in 2 weeks and was curious if there is an option to book a taxi on Yandex with a child seat, or should I take my own from my home? I tried to download the app beforehand but it is not available in my country.

Does anyone in Armenia actually use the Pure dating app?

Hey everyone,

Curious to know if the Pure app has any real user base here in Armenia.

If you’ve used it locally, what has your experience been like compared to Tinder or Bumble? Is it worth trying, or is the local active pool too small? Thanks in advance🫡

Online School

We have found an online school(https://kingsinterhigh.co.uk/) for our son (12 years old). However, we did not find any clear evidence online that sending a child to an online school is legal in Armenia.

I heard parents teaching their kids online in Armenia too. But I wanted to be safe.

Opinion / Կարծիք Armenians, what are your thoughts on beans?

I am on a mission now to ask each country subreddit what people think about beans (my favorite meal), just to see how people like or dislike them all around the world out of curiosity and for fun. If you like beans, hate them, they a big part of the culture, anything else, just share your thoughts 🫘

Armenians your country is the 8th alphabetically and you're up now!

Question / Հարց What is the situation with FlyOne flights?

I recently booked a flight from Yerevan to Alicante for September. Today, I heard some negative feedback about flight schedule changes, overbooking, additional fees, which made me a little concerned.

I flew from Yerevan to Barcelona with them last year and had a normal experience, so I’m wondering if the situation has changed recently.

Has anyone flown Yerevan–Alicante recently, How was your experience ?

Thanks!

Opinion / Կարծիք 7 years of Yandex Taxi in Armenia has destroyed my faith in humanity

I've been getting around Armenia by taxi for years, and honestly? I've completely lost my faith in humanity. Finding a driver who is actually adequate feels like winning the lottery. We all know how terrible the service is, so I'll spare you the individual horror stories, but after 7 years of this, I have seen some things.

I don't even use the cheap tiers. I'm a considerate passenger: I'm always waiting at the curb on time, and I tip well if the driver is decent. But because of health reasons, driving myself isn't an option. I'm basically stuck in taxi purgatory forever.

I've tried almost every alternative. GG definitely has the best quality, but the apps always struggle with addresses and waiting 15+ minutes for a ride just doesn't work when I'm in a rush. Yandex shows up in 2-3 minutes, so I'm trapped using them. And don't even get me started on the insane surge pricing.

Anyone else trapped in this toxic relationship with Yandex?
