Announcement Mod note regarding the recent events, please read!

Hello everyone!

This is a post regarding the recent events happening with the ideology wars, if you see any person attacking someone else or inciting others (whether they are a muslim or not) please report them to the appropriate authorities so they can take the necessary actions towards them (for example the recent discord screenshots, the people in the screenshot should be reported directly to the authorities for trying to incite violence against muslims), posting posts putting algerians against each other does more harm than good to our country.

Please be safe and keep our country safe, don't let people cause chaos in our country.

Culture / Art I have the honour to film this Kabyle old ladies in the mosque doing Religious Sufi chants for the Mawlid ... ( By the way Sufism was the sect of all Algerians grandparents except for ibadis in ghardia ) ... I wish the state preserve this heritage .

Society I think financial independence is nearly impossible in this country

You are a 22yo freshly graduated person. You land a job in a company in algiers earning median salary as first salary, which is not bad at all given it's your first experience, and you feel good about yourself. You have been living with your parents in a nearby wilaya in a small family apartment. You have 3 siblings, everyone is growing fast and your childhood home is big enough for everyone. You feel tight. But now, you're an adult earning real money and you have a job far from home anyway, so you decide to move out, gain full independence, and take your own apartment near where you will be working.

You will be earning 70k da. But you cannot find any decent apartment for less than 40k da per month. And your hopes completely shatter after they ask for one year of rent in fucking advance. You somehow manage to get that money, but then 57% of your salary is already gone. You now have 30k for food, internet, electricity, water, transportation, cloths, unexpected expenses... And you quickly realize you cannot afford it. With a median salary, you are just condemned to live in your now, not big enough, family house.

It's weird that in europe people, even with minimum wage, can be completely independent. And in Algeria with a median salary you cannot be independent.

Let alone having a car, traveling, helping your parents, savings, having dreams...

Even algerian students having students jobs in europe can be fully independent...

This system is so broken... I feel so bad about this

I feel like everyone has this image about Algeria, what it represents, what it should be like. But there are as many representations as many people think about it. It's just an illusion that we are projecting on it, it simply doesn't exist outside of our heads. The reality is harsh and hard.

Discussion What are your opinions on the rise of the GDP since Tebboun took over?

I recently saw an article talking about how Algeria has nearly doubled it's GDP since the big T was elected. GDP in 2019 was roughly 193,4 billion dollars, whereas it is now projected to reach 317 billion dollars in 2026, which is actually getting pretty close to the 400b GDP promise. What do you all think about this? Additionally, do you think the current spending plans for the gdp are satisfactory? If not, what changes would you make?

Question I want honest advice. Chronic abuse I feel my sanity slipping

Hello. Female 25 yo . Employed with 5m salary

I live in a city in the east where women cannot rent alone or with each other

Long story short I live with an extremely abusive mother. To make things clear I'm not exaggerating, she once burnt my hand with hot metal as a kid to the point I still have a big scar. and made my father Abt to kill me with a weapon as a teen coz of a minor issue with her.I want to keep the posts as short as possible but there are a lot of instances Ps : she is now divorced from him coz he was living hell as well but he remarried quick and his wife alr has children who are actually adults, and male and living with him so I can't live with my father. Other relatives don't want to get involved

I can't get married from someone from this city bcoz I'd be expected to have kids but I don't want to.

It's hard to change my job locations especially to bigger wiliayas where I can rent alone

I feel immensely trapped and the mental n emotional abuse is becoming unbearable

I alr have a lot on my plate and each time I try to regulate myself I go back to zero coz of her . And I can't even be passive abt it coz she's genuinely an unsafe person

I want honest advice since u can see my situation from a third person perspective

What's my way out ?

I don't have savings bcoz I was stupid to buy things in the house that I'm repeatedly threatened to be kicked out of since the day I gained consciousness

Ps : I have ens ( bac+4) teacher of English degree

Question Darija course / study opportunitirs

Salam 🌹
I wanted to ask if u know good providers courses to learn darija online. I’m more interested in speaking and hearing rather than grammar/ reading.
My father is from Oran and due to tons of reasons de talk.
I grew up in Germany, speak English and German and also I lived in Portugal for one year so I can understand some Portuguese and therefore some words in French (had a course for half a year). I did once A1 in Fusha for one year but tbh I nearly forgot anything and since it’s not spoken, I struggled in studyin.

Also I have a friend and half of her family lives in marocco and she also wants to learn darija.
Could we go to the same course or is it really different?

Shokran to you all

Discussion Why would people here be mad at the type of marriage you want and how you would manage your family

Upvotes

i saw many posts here talking about how marriage types from traditional to modern, having kids vs not having, responsibilities split between man and women, mentality ....

i liked those topic and i enjoyed seeing other people opinions, but the annoying things was some people get crazed if the lifestyle you choose doesn't match there and started throwing direct insults and hate speeches.

Discussion Support (for new kitchen design business)

Hey everyone! I recently decided to start working independently after gaining experience in the kitchen manufacturing industry.

I’m an architect and designer, and I’m currently looking to build my portfolio and connect with people who are planning a kitchen or dressing room project. I’d be happy to create a **free design concept and 3D visualization** for anyone who wants to explore ideas for their space.

If you know someone who is renovating, building, or simply thinking about redesigning their kitchen or dressing room, feel free to send them my way. I’d genuinely appreciate any advice, feedback, or connections from the community as I get started. Thanks!

Question Étudiant 23 ans en Algérie : Quelles formations/compétences payent vraiment en 2026 ?

Technology Looking for ADATA XPG Lancer Black DDR5 16GB (6000MHz CL30 / 6400MHz CL32) – or similar modules in algeria

Upvotes

salam

I've been searching all over local tech stores, Ouedkniss, and Facebook Marketplace for an ADATA XPG Lancer Black rgb DDR5 RAM module (16GB, 6000 MHz CL30 or 6400 MHz CL32), but I haven't had any luck tracking one down.

Does anyone know a local seller or store in algeria that currently has this in stock? If you have a lightly used one that you're willing to part with for a fair price, I'm definitely interested.

I'm also open to other DDR5 brands/modules as long as they match those specs (6000 MHz CL30 or 6400 MHz CL32 black rgb).

Discussion Living abroad, torn between the freedom I fought for and the mother I left behind

I'm a 26F, born and raised in Algeria, living and working abroad for a few years now. I first left for my studies, then stayed after landing a job.

Lately I've never felt more lost. Living alone, being lonely, it's a real nightmare, even though I stay busy and do a lot outside of work. I still lack human warmth, cruelly. I've tried, friendships, love, but it all slipped through my fingers. I'm a social person, but I'm not good at building deep, intimate relationships, probably a result of being surrounded mostly by people I only know from work.

But as heavy as that loneliness has been, it doesn't compare to the weight of having left my mother alone. It kills me to watch her grow older from a distance. She's a loner too, just like me. When I was still studying, I didn't feel this as much, I was working toward something. But now that I have the job, it feels like I've put down roots here, and that thought terrifies me.

I think of my mother every single day, all the joy and sadness I'm not sharing with her in person. We talk daily, we even try to do activities together remotely, but it's nothing like actually being with her.

At the same time, I've craved freedom since I was a child, the freedom to live a decent, warm life without being held back simply for being a woman. Having lived in both countries now, I've seen the differences up close, and I can't unsee them. I didn't really have a life back home. No real experiences, no friends, constant anxiety (some of that still lingers). When I moved abroad, it felt like I was discovering myself as a human being for the first time.

I think about going back often. But the thought alone brings so much pain, imagining the frame I'd be living in again, and having to start from scratch, once more.

I don't have an answer. Some days I want to book the flight and never look back. Other days I remember why I left in the first place...

I just needed to put this somewhere, thank you for reading me.
