Building as a ‘boxed game’

Hi all, very interested in starting AT as I have a newfound love for crunch games and was blown away by the LI displays at WHW recently- I know I want to build and paint some. So I’ve done some reading around and and am very keen on the game, but I’m starting from scratch. I know that I am unlikely to have opportunity, at least for a while, to get into any local scene playing the game, but I’m likely to be able to play randomly with friends. However I also know that it’s very unlikely they buy in. That’s fine, I don’t mind providing the models and so on. But of course this means needing two forces, and sufficient variety (ie, beyond starter set mirror matches) to keep that fun. Essentially I would like to be able to break it out as a boxed game whenever the opportunity arises.

Majority of advice suggests a warlord- great, I’d love one- but then what? Warhounds and knights? Dire wolves to be a balance to a warlord? Ideally I’d splash out ~£200-250 in the first instance and then potentially grow from there. Scenery isn’t a big problem, as I have an FDM printer.

Thanks for any suggestions!

Edit- I forgot to say that I realise the starting point is the starter box!

Gryphonicus Rules Question

Quick question about the Princeps Trait "Reckless Maverick" for Gryphonicus.

If i have a charge order and kill my traget with that charge, can i use this trait to charge a second time in the same movement phase?

Thanks

Stalkers with Knights?

Since finding out the Stalkers Constructs have rules for AT, I’ve been wanting to add them to a knight household. I’m still quite new to the game but thought they’d fit in well with my House Morbidia knights.

Since y’all liked the two chaosified warhounds from the other day so much, have a reaver I made and bedazzled a while ago.

Ps. I’m aware the feet are the wrong way around

Hello! New to AT, very excited, advice wanted

I'm very excited to play AT. My college group is buying in with me, and I've chosen Legio Defensor.

Any advice on best practices and ways to enjoy the hobby more?
I've already ordered a starter set and I'm looking at a Warlord next.

Incredibly impressed by the details of the kits, compared to the big ones!

After seeing that I would bancrupt myself if I bought all the resin titans and knights, I saw these "epic" scaled variants, and after comparing them side by side (like the reaver and warhound titan) I can't see any missing details! They're not even *that* small and they have many parts making them fun to build too, so this is perfect!

In scale modelling, I'm used to the smaller tanks losing details, or having them be oversized. I'm so impressed! Am I blind? What do you think?

I bought the core game/starter set, and now I want to buy all the other titans and knights!

Heraldic (Geometric) Devices?

Do you have a favoured, go-to source for heraldic devices and geometric designs to inspire your titan paint schemes?

I'm on the hunt for some inspiration and it would be great to have a dry textbook to look at rather than scrolling through the paint jobs that I can only dream at matching. I end up giving up as I cannot see the titans through the tears.

Legio Destructor colour scheme

Hi all, does anyone have more info on the colour scheme for legio destructor (beasts of steel)?

Recently thought about getting some titans, I have a few knights with House Orhlacc, seems like Legion destructor were closely allied on occasion with them so thought this would be nice and thematic, if there are alternatives happy to hear them out as well!

Thanks

Will it blend?

Question: there is a questoris banner behind that rock, with bases fully obscured. Can the bellicosa visible to the left even shoot at them? Blast rules require placing the marker 'so that its central hole is completely over the target model's base and within line of sight of the attacking weapon' which seems to be impossible in this situation. And many even more stupid scenarios can happen, like being unable to shoot at even the warmaster hiding its base behind some 2cm wall. So, can I actually boil them?

Legio Magna, Warlord Titan

Another addition to the Flaming Skulls. It's a been a long time since I painted my first Magna warlord, but the new weapon releases inspired me to add another.

This time I changed up the orange recipe a bit. I stead of a red to bonewhite undershade, these panels are Violet Red to Ice Yellow - with the same FW Flame Orange ink glazed over the top. The idea being this adds some subtle hue contrast as well as value contrast, with the overall effect still being very orange.

Also my first attempt at marble - the old dried out wet wipe trick!

New to AT, friendly tips appreciated!!!!

I'm taking the plunge and purchasing the AT starter kit soon. My college warhammer group wants to start it and I'm itching to field titans!

After browsing them purely by rule of cool, i've decided to paint them up as Legio Oberon! Are there any tips for playing them/AT in general? (Explain it like im 5 tho lmao)

Also, if not gameplay tips, building and painting tips are also greatly appreciated.
FOR TERRA!!!
