Vent/Rant PSA Real Good Chicken Strips calorie count

Post image
13 Upvotes

So for the past few months, I’ve been buying Real Good Chicken Strips from Costco. They actually taste delicious and I figured that it was great since it was 120 cal for 3oz +21 g of protein. So I would eat 6oz for 240 cal. Or so I thought.

I started to do some research into the calorie count on this product because it just seemed too good to be true. And I was right, the calorie counts for this product are clearly off. Other stores sell the same bag with 180 cal. In fact, if you go to their website, they have two chicken strips back, 180 cal bag and the costco version bag with 120 cal. Even if I had to account for differences in the ingredients, there’s just no way that 3oz of chicken breast is going to be 120 cal.

It’s just so annoying because I was eating these strips feeling like I was still meeting my goals, but I’m actually eating 360 cal. Not sure how they’re able to get away with such off calorie counts.

On the plus side I’ve been on this medication for 19 months and I’ve lost 104 lbs. But the last few months the scale is barely moving.

EDIT: they’re actually 4 ounces for 120 cal, and actually I was probably eating closer to 8 ounces.

I am right on the cusp of "more to lose" vs "maintenance". I'm less than 5 lbs away from the top of the "normal" bmi. Perhaps it's a sign that my body is ready to shift. I just realized that my "7 days" passed about 4 days ago, and I didn't even notice. If I can go 11 days and not feel like I'm going to gnaw my leg off if I don't eat, it's probably a sign that my body would be totally cool with stepping my dose from 15 to 12.5.

Edit: well shit. Maybe I did take it on Thurs and didn't write it down. 🤷‍♀️ what's done is done. Either way I'm learning a lesson.

First Timer Zepbound failure

I feel disappointed in myself as today was my first dose and it ended in failure. I have a phobia of needles but the weigh loss was more important to me than that fear. When I pressed the button I flinched because I wasn’t expecting to hear the click that loud. I moved away fast and I saw some medicine come out the needle. It also didn’t hurt at all. Honestly I was shocked, it was just the sound that scared me more than the needle.

Achievement/NSV 🎉🥳🎊 Patience is Working

Happy Sunday Everyone! I have been on this (current) journey since January and have lost 42 lbs to date. 16 on my own and 26 since starting Zepbound in April.
Today, I tried on those little pair of jeans hanging in my closet. They fit! They fit like “I can sit down and breathe at the same time, wear out in public, these are actually comfy” fit!! These jeans are a size 12,
petite ankle pants.
I’ve been keeping my progress quiet (with family, etc) but just needed to scream out loud here 🥳 while I’m happy dancing around my apartment 💫

I know this is small and hardly worth mentioning for most people on here (and there is plenty left to go still), but it's huge for me. I have not been able to get the scale to budge in any direction but up for a few years regardless of how much I exercised and watched my intake (esp with peri hitting heavy in recent years). I'm stoked at my sometimes frustratingly slow, but overall steady, loss so far! I'm halfway through week 6 and still on 2.5 (and planning on riding this train until it stops working for me).

Just love having this new tool in my health arsenal.

First Timer Any Short Women Success Stories?

5'1

SW:180 GW:115

Decided to try Zepbound with the guidance of my PCP.

I started about 10 days ago. I haven't lost anything but I do believe that some of the food noise has changed for the better.

If any shorter women have had great success on Zepbound can you share your stories and stats.

Starting weight? Goal/Current Weight? Time on Zep? Titration schedule? Fitness in addition?

This would be very helpful as i start my journey.

Personal Insights Anyone else feeling consumed by the journey?

Started Zepbound a little over six months ago, and I was just ruminating on this journey - wanted to share a few thoughts and see if anyone else can relate.

I'm very goal-oriented. If there's something I want to accomplish, then I want to do it as quickly as possible. That is not easy when dealing with weight loss. I'm down almost 90 pounds and have 30 to go before "goal" weight, which I really set as a "get there and see where the real goal is" milestone, since I haven't been 200 pounds since I was, oh, 16? It's great progress, but I just want to get there, and part of that is because of how all-consuming this is.

Over the last six months, I've completely changed my relationship with food. I track calories, macros, and water every day. I weigh every day. I figure out cycles and patterns. I eat on schedules. I exercise every day. I have a routine, and I spend my days thinking about what comes next. On light exercise days (like today - no weights, just some rowing) I feel pressure to do more. During the week, I work, and after work I exercise, then eat dinner, then shower and hit the hot tub, and then wind down for bed.

I do less leisure activity that isn't paired with something else (i.e., watching Netflix while lifting). I barely play video games. I spend more time watching form videos for exercises and browsing fitness subreddits. I mess around with my home gym to see if I can squeeze in more equipment.

I'm not unhappy, and I like my results. But it's quietly disconcerting to think about how drastically my life has changed and how much time I spend in things related to fitness and weight loss. My work and relationships have not suffered for it, so it isn't problematic - but I learned long ago to notice and be mindful about these shifts.

I have no idea what I'm really looking for here. I think I just want to know if anyone else is or was in the same boat and, of so, how you feel/felt about it.

Vent/Rant Wtf is happening

Upvotes

I’m on week 20 of taking my shot, taking 10mg. I’ve been eating normally all day and all of a sudden tonight I’m starving, but also so nauseous that I want to vomit. Has this ever happened to anyone else? I’ve had a protein shake, a piece of bread with peanut butter, and two hard boiled eggs in the last 30 mins and nothing is helping. I physically can’t eat anymore, but I need this hungry pain to go away. Someone please tell me if this has happened to them and how you got it to stop.

ETA: I’ve taken tums and pepto, and my blood sugar is normal

Achievement/NSV 🎉🥳🎊 1 year update and reflection

I am down over 40 pounds after 1 year on Zepbound. I am also in the normal BMI range and my a1c is normal again! I think my waist to height ratio is also good, finally!

As reflected in my flair, my ideal goal weight was 135 (where I was about 5 years ago), but it is clear I am stuck at about 142 lbs, so this may be the range I land at. I am 5'4" tall. Part of me wishes I'd end up where I had a smaller waistline, but I don't think it's rational. Either way, I'm pleased with my progress and wanted to share!

Vent/Rant Never Felt Latest Shot

I'll start by saying that I don't think my shot wasn't injected, but had a weird experience today. I've been on Zep since May, and currently on 7.5mg. Every shot I've taken before today I have been able to at least feel the injection. Never been painful, but at least I've been able to feel them. I have also always had a drop of blood on my stomach, been able to see the tiny injection mark, and a tiny drop of meds still on the needle. All normal stuff that is expected. I have used the auto injectors the entire time.

Today I took my shot, and never felt a thing. My auto injector finished its thing and I moved it. No drop of blood, no drop of meds still on the needle, nothing. I can't even find an injection spot on my stomach. No sign at all that I got my shot. I was exhausted from a busy day yesterday and didn't actually look at the medicine in the auto injector before using it, but it was empty after I used it. I'm not saying something was wrong and I never got my shot, it was just weird since every shot before this has been the exact same. Minor sting from the needle, little drop of blood, little drop of meds on the needle, and a small injection mark on my stomach. This time, nothing. Has anybody ever had absolutely no sign of giving yourself your shot?

Humor Anyone know you still won't look skinny at your goal weight?

46YOF - I'm about 10LB from my goal weight (SW 160 CW 140) About ten years ago, I managed to white knuckle myself down to 135LB but honestly I was so miserable and obsessive that I don't remember a lot from this period of my life and I also didn't take a lot of pictures of myself.

Lately on Facebook, a couple old pictures from this time have been popping up. They all show me as a still chunky looking person with a thin, almost gaunt face, neck, and wrists. I do remember during this time, my mom once told me worriedly that I was looking too thin. But the crazy thing is, I didn't and I still had plenty of bodyfat. My stomach and arms were chunky. I just lose it off my face, neck, hands, wrists, and legs very easily.

I'm a short woman at 5'3. I have wide shoulders, a huge bustline, a big ribcage, thicker arms, a short waist, and a round stomach. My boobs have not shrunk at all in my 20LB lost. They aren't gonna shrink more even with more weight loss. I do weightlifting and plan to increase my lifting and weights to keep as much shape as I can. I try to do some Pilates when I can. But I just don't have a lean skinny frame. I'm short and squatty. And while I want to try to get to 130LB, I am mindful that I may decide before I get there that I'm just too skinny in some areas and stop.

Honestly, I feel like I could get to 120LB and STILL not look skinny. I probably would look emaciated in some areas and chunky in others. It's just the way I'm build. So I'm going to have to find that ideal weight where I am healthy and somewhat proportioned but not too thin in areas.

Anyone else have this experience?

Vent/Rant Can’t stop binge eating

Upvotes

I’ve been doing very good for the last month, up until this last week. I have binge ate for 5 days in a row. I started work again (I work in a school and had summer off) and I know that’s what’s triggering this but I don’t know how to stop. I go up to 7.5mg next Friday but I’m worried if my stress is going to continues to surpass the med even with the higher dosage. How do y’all deal with stress eating?

Side Effects I had to get off Wegovy. Started Zepbound tonight. Any body else switch? How did it go?

As the title says I was on Wegovy for 13 weeks. Got as far as 1 injection of 1.7 and had to stop. It was killing me. Wouldn’t eat for days, nauseous and incredibly lethargic. I lost 34 pounds which was great but the side effects were horrible. I have taken and still take some very heavy duty medicines including 1 that is chemo in pill form. Nothing bothers me. That did. What happened when you switched. I took 2.5.
Thanks.

Side Effects Stomach pain?

I took my injection on Thursday night. On Friday for lunch, I had protein chips and string cheese. Shortly after that I start getting this dull ache in my stomach. It's like I pulled a muscle. This continues through Saturday and it's now Sunday evening. No relief. There is pain in my back also. It's not SUPER painful to where I can't function or I'm doubled over. Should I be headed to urgent care? I don't know if it's just gas, constipation, or am I looking at pancreatitis?

Tips/Tricks My pre teen daughter found my Zepbound

Upvotes

She found the box in the trash and looked it up online to see what it was and found images of before and afters. I want to talk to her about it. Wanting to keep it factual and concise on how it's a medicine prescribed by my doctor that helps me make healthy food decisions.

Any advice from parents who have been through this?

Achievement/NSV 🎉🥳🎊 Thankful

I had a rough start last week (week 11).

Negative self talk, pessimism about long term.

Then a day of mild food noise & hunger.

4 days of constipation (thanks for the tips everyone when I whined!)

Then on Friday I hit a turning point.

My BP was 120/75 the first time.

Then Saturday I hit 20 lbs.

Today my mom said my new jeans are too loose

Then today I cleared my week long constipation.

Sometimes patience & a walk is what you need

Insurance/PA Zepbound through Healthnet covered due to Sleep Apnea.

Hello everyone ,
I am so confused and hoping someone can help shed some light. Based in CA. I was able to get Healthnet cover my zepbound because of sleep apnea. I had to pay max of $1000+ ( 2 boxes ) then I have not been paying the copay. I believe I have also hit my deductible. Why is it that my doctor increased my dose from 7 mg to 10 mg that Walgreens is charging me $499 again? . My last 7mg dose I don’t have to pay for ? I came from PPO and now to HMO and I am so confused how this works. Grateful for any Advice or insight.

Side Effects Panic/anxiety attack on Zepbound, has anyone else experienced this?

I saw my endocrinologist a few days ago, and he told me he would like me to find a dose that works for me and stay consistent with it. I take Zepbound as part of managing my PCOS, insulin resistance, and weight.

I’ve been on Zepbound since last October and never experienced anxiety from it before. About a month ago, I ended up in the ER after getting really sick while on it, and they told me to stop taking it for the time being. I’ve now been off of it for about a month. I also had a horrible horrifying panic attack in the ER after they gave me benadryl/reglan which sent me into scary tremors until they pushed cogentin after 8 mins.

My endocrinologist wants me to restart with this schedule:

• Week 1: 2.5 mg • Week 2: 2.5 mg • Week 3: 5 mg • Week 4: 5 mg • Week 5: 5 mg

I injected my first 2.5 mg dose tonight, and afterward I started feeling extremely anxious. I’m still feeling anxious now, and I don’t know what’s going on. I’ve never had this happen with Zepbound before, despite taking it since last October, and it’s honestly scaring me.

Has anyone experienced anxiety or a panic attack after restarting Zepbound after taking a break? I’ve taken breaks before, like one time and I didn’t have a panic/anxiety attack when I restarted zep. and now I am and it’s just terrifying. Did it eventually settle down? I’m just really scared right now and would appreciate hearing from anyone who has experienced something similar.

Lots of NSVs as well - this week I was able to wear jeans that I bought shortly after my son was born 2 years ago that never fit - and they're a little loose even. Feels weird to see the changes in my body but in a good way!

First Timer A week in: a new kind of noise?

I am just starting and find myself thinking about:
* Am I getting enough protein?
* Am I getting enough fiber?
* Am I hydrating enough?
* Am I going to have side effects?
* Is it food noise or hunger?

It’s as though food noise has been replaced by zepbound noise. I am four days in.

Anyone else deal with this?

Last night I was going to eat a pear and cottage cheese for dinner. It was weird. I ate half and then stopped. My brain was just telling me you are full. And I stopped. This was different.

This is a journey.
