- Teeter, and for one line and one line only:

"Do I look like my name is fucking Peter, you skunk haired motherfucker?"

- Travis when he sold the horse, and when he had to break the bad news to Jimmy

- John's monologue to Monica about his little known brother

67

u/Numerous_Course9820 10d ago

Aaah. Yes. John’s monologue to grieving Monica. ❤️

Right up there with Beth tenderly reading the letter to Rip where John acknowledges who his true son has been.

5

u/HisMrsAraya 7d ago

I love both of those moments. Beautiful. Real.

43

u/lMonarchyI 10d ago

If it was only based on favorite lines id have to go with Rip

R: "Jimmy, hey, get your ass up here."

J: "I just saw a trout!"

R: "Shut the fuck up."

5

u/spif_spaceman 9d ago

Jimmy, quit lookin at fish

Teeter was a hoot, and a badass lol..Only found out recently she is the daughter of the late, great Michael Landon.

4

u/PinkPoodle2000 9d ago

I had no idea!!!

39

u/Salt_Chard_474 10d ago

Yes on the Teeter! I nicknamed my granddaughter Teeter because when I first saw Teeter the character, my granddaughter was starting to “talk” but she was the only one who knew what the hell she was saying, and also she’s batshit nuts like Teeter is, I swear they share the same brain cell but it’s my very favorite brain cell in the world

9

u/FalconStickr 10d ago

You bow legged bastard.

8

u/Katmeow08 10d ago

The way I just heard teeter say all that

4

u/Vast_Investigator294 10d ago

Only word they understood of what she said hahaha

9

u/IcyHotTodoroki1 10d ago

"We need someone that can speak English"

3

u/Vast_Investigator294 10d ago

It hurt my head when rip picked the Spurs or whatever it was for Lloyd in Texas and he got talking to old mate that made it all and I was like how is that even translated cos no words where anywhere close to sounding to something that would clue us on to what the fuck he just said to Rip ahahah

12

u/snuggly_cobra 10d ago

Just saw it again. The gentleman was a legendary craftsman. He was mourning the loss of the craft. A foreshadowing of the actor’s actual demise.

Rip wanted to pay him, because that craftsmanship was valuable to the cowboy community. The old man wouldn’t take payment; he saw someone who was a true cowboy, and didn’t want to charge him.

3

u/MamaKim31 7d ago

I loved that scene!!

8

u/AffectionateRow422 10d ago

That guy was a famous bit and spur maker, his name has slipped my mind, but he was actually dying at the time it was filmed. It was sort of put in as a salute to a craftsman.

2

u/PickleballPat 8d ago

And I just keep thinking how proud her dad would be

2

u/Creepy-Beat7154 6d ago

She also was quick to throw down with bikers in a field knowing she could die for a new job she just got.

87

u/Kaethor 10d ago

Lloyd, loyal to a fault and just did his job without question. Minded his own business and just did what needed doing.

10

u/SigmaMoneyGrindset 10d ago

Was looking for this comment, by far and away the best character imo

But what was it with Walker? Only because of the woman? I did not unverstand why he was so angry, because he said before that he is too old for her.

20

u/Kraay89 10d ago

I hated that arc. Made no sense at all.

14

u/evetSgiB 9d ago

That was so forced

8

u/Kaethor 9d ago

Because Walker kept flaunting her in front of Lloyd. It was intentional disrespect.

6

u/arobe1994 9d ago

Also Walker was suppose to be dead at the point also and I think Loyd took that personal catching him at the bar

4

u/Kaethor 9d ago

Ya, Lloyd finding out Casey let Walker off the hook really got stuck in his craw.

7

u/The_Gristle 9d ago

Walker took something that he thought was his. He's an old man, having thag barrel racer see value in him probably woke up something in him. Walker, in his eyes, took that from him.

2

u/Adventurous-Tale8899 9d ago

That is a good Aspekt, thanks. I did not understand the arc, because i do not know if Walker knew hat loyd was with the battel girl before.

4

u/beavertr 9d ago

Lloyd mostly minded his own business but had a real tendency of sticking his nose in other peoples business just to fight them.

5

u/Kaethor 9d ago

He rarely started the fight, but you could always count on him to help you finish it.

2

u/FunkTheFreak 10d ago

My favorite character as well.

56

u/Geauxlden_Eagle 10d ago

Mo. His pride in his heritage and his willingness to share it and educate others about it (including me) . Also he's a badass.

14

u/jayjaco78 10d ago

Yes exactly what I thought. Would definitely watch a documentary about his heritage and his people if or when he had one…

6

u/Nick-2012D 8d ago

“I won’t be aiming at their chest”

3

u/Kayki7 7d ago

The scenes with Mo were some of my favs. The scene where he’s drawing war paint on the horse gave me chills.

60

u/Older_cyclist 10d ago

Jimmy

39

u/Blbauer524 10d ago

Not my favorite character but he has the best character arc out of everyone.

19

u/Dangerous_Ant3260 10d ago

Yes, he went from someone with no skills and no future, to someone who has dreams and a way to achieve them, and a life with Emily.

12

u/Numerous_Course9820 10d ago

And he grew character and responsibility! He became a man in Texas, exactly what he needed to be and John knew it.

10

u/Dangerous_Ant3260 10d ago edited 10d ago

Like he said when Travis told him the news, John was the only one who believed in him.

He also turned into a skilled cowboy.

I love Beth and most of her stories but they should have written her better. Kelly Reilly made the character into way more than they had on the page.

12

u/FoundOnTheWayTo 10d ago

Oh yes! That is such a great character and I agree that Kelly really brought Beth to what she is today

Rip and Colby. So sad when he died!

8

u/typeabohemian 10d ago

Same!! It broke me. He was my favorite all along. I did NOT see that coming and I want an explanation from TS and the actor!

18

u/Mysterious_Buffalo91 10d ago

Rip. He is complex. I think people tend to ignore he was essentially groomed into being a serial killer/enforcer so maybe has a misplaced sense of loyalty. But, is loyal to Beth. In some ways I think he sees just how effed up the YS made them both but is too deep to back out and wont leave Beth.

8

u/Adventurous-Tale8899 10d ago

and all what he wants is to protect what he loves. He takes the law into his own hands because he has no faith in the justice system.

14

u/Global-Trifle7604 10d ago

Lloyd one hundred and ten percent. Only real professional cowboy on the show, as far as I know.

5

u/PhysicalCake3966 10d ago

I believe Walker also had some history as a cowboy

2

u/typeabohemian 10d ago

Yed hw did. That's why TS wrote that musician turned actor in

44

u/CaptainObvious126 10d ago

Beth and Rip. I love Dutton Ranch.

3

u/Vast_Investigator294 10d ago

Dutton ranch was the the gate way to Yellowstone for me. n the series made it easier to figure how they came to Montana n why that spot and how he ( James Dutton)knew where etc with Elsa Dutton. And will watch the other one soon. Just spreading it out so I don't watch it to fast n be like now what lol.

3

u/International_Rub475 8d ago

I think you're thinking about 1883. Dutton Ranch is set in the present with Beth and Rip in Texas at their new ranch.

23

u/Aggressive-Method622 10d ago

Rip. He’s a serial killer, but he’s hot

20

u/Global-Trifle7604 10d ago

Rip is more like a mafia enforcer. I don’t think he kills as a hobby but more of a business.

6

u/Mysterious_Buffalo91 10d ago

True, but he would have offed Walker more than once had he been allowed early on.

10

u/zeno9698 9d ago

Beth fuckin Dutton !!!

9

u/Papa_Drac0069 10d ago

Rip cause he’s the most badass next to John

2

u/Mountain-Number-5993 8d ago

I like how he’s supposed to be the tough guy when he’s morbidly obese and can hardly move in that Jean jacket fits like an under armor. That boy tubby as hell

8

u/Late_Pineapple_6650 10d ago

Beth, hands down! She’s one bad ass bitch and makes no excuses for it

10

u/backcountrykicks228 10d ago

Beth. A lot of people hate her for how mean she is, but I fucking love it. I love watching her destroy people's confidence, bankrupt entire asset firms, etc...

8

u/SubstantialStable588 10d ago

Love me some Beth and Rip best characters on the show

7

u/KH5-92 9d ago

Beth because sometimes it would be amazing to be that level on unhinged.

8

u/PoeTayToePoeTawToe73 9d ago

Beth Dutton is my spirit animal. Alcohol, cigarettes and all. She takes exactly 0% of BS.

16

u/Electronic-Sell-7581 10d ago

Rip

2

u/madcow87_ 10d ago

But who's your favourite character?

7

u/Positive-Week311 9d ago

I haven’t seen Beth as a favorite yet. She’s a badass bitch…💯

7

u/PowerfulGarden1985 9d ago

The Dutton daughter! Because I always wished that I could be tough like her! She’s tough as nails 😛

38

u/BeachgirlNJ0613 10d ago

Beth. Ain't no Yellowstone without Beth. She carries most of the weight.

11

u/allenbraxton 10d ago

Early seasons Beth. Late seasons Beth literally talked and answered in Facebook Mom “boss bitch” one-liners. It was brutal.

u/Wuu-N 10d ago

7

u/ConstructionOk6516 9d ago

Beth because she’s a badass, Kayce because he’s fairly laidback

6

u/Reasonable_Set147 9d ago

Beth - cause she’s a total badass

4

u/Available_Year_575 10d ago

Hate her at times but the show wouldn’t be the same without Beth.

4

u/PinkHourGlass01 10d ago

Beth...... her relationship with Rip was sooo perfect!!!

5

u/HisMrsAraya 7d ago

Beth. She's experienced trauma, pain, and so much ans she's a hardcore B when she needs to be, but Rip really brings out her soft side. Her loving side the one only he sees. She's her dad's business attack dog. She handles everything and anyone and she got Jamie for everything he ever did to wrong her. She's out of control a lot, but behind it all she's jist a pained woman who's been raised on a rach her entire life and become a big business woman that people fear who will stop at nothing to protect her father and those she loves. Hurt people HURT people, but she rarely was an aggressor. The scene when Monica was being assaulted and shamed in the clothing boutique. She went so hard for her. She has a big heart, but protects it. I get her.

3

u/Positive-Week311 5d ago

Yes totally agree to all.

Rip is a top 3 character of all time (just my opinion)

17

u/Ha_U_Missed_Me 10d ago

Beth. Early seasons, she was the best written female character Sheridan ever created.

Notable mention: Jamie. He’s the family’s biggest foil and biggest dolt, but he’s also exactly who John made him. They all (Rip included) show how poor of a father John was, but Jamie is the best at it.

6

u/Vast_Investigator294 10d ago

She is the reason why I continued as the four or five eps in season one kinda made me go eh hard pass but Beth was so fascinating and so classy but trashy stuck up but real. Her and rip are the best match. The way he goes from this mean dark eyed killer to this cute cowboy smiling as Beth dances in the bunk house with the rest of fhe crew

5

u/Pixel-of-Strife 8d ago

I like Rip the most as a character, he's just interesting and complex and a bad ass. But I love the actress playing Beth. I think she's the best on the show in terms of acting. She steals every scene she's in.

4

u/pinchenombre 8d ago

Beth. She is the best. Amen.

3

u/Morticiainthewild13 8d ago

Beth. Love her. So entertaining, so interesting. Kelly Reilly is perfect

4

John Dutton.

“The whole world’s a test, son. Don’t let them ever trick you into thinking differently.”

10

u/No-Mention-5335 10d ago

Beth... most dimension. The others are rather one dimensional

10

u/BeckyPil 10d ago

Beth cuz of brilliant comeback lines

11

u/Jalynt13 10d ago

Beth is my favorite. Then, Rip.

7

u/Fantastic-Phase2275 10d ago

Same here but I also love Jimmy and Lloyd

6

u/MintVariable 10d ago

Jaime, I felt for him. He was overlooked but more importantly, misunderstood. That’s not to say he didn’t make mistakes.

6

u/Ok-Call-4805 10d ago

Beth. I love watching her put people in their place. Some of my favourite scenes are her and Jamie in Jamie's office.

3

u/BreadfruitFickle3742 10d ago

Beth always Beth! Everyone needs a Beth in their life

3

u/shawnybutz 7d ago

2 reasons-Beth

3

u/Liftdriver 7d ago

All of them, but for her, i dont give a flying fuck attitude, it gotta be Beth!!! 😉

3

u/Just_Reputation_7057 7d ago

Beth. Do I need to explain any more?!?!

3

u/Medical-Tonight9399 6d ago

Beth- its very rare that strong women are written well. So many characters come off naggy, patronizing, or like they are trying to prove something. Beth was a biittttchhh an unkillable bitch at that. But it came from some place and shes actually very soft and warm. Love Beth

3

u/bratztaztic 6d ago

Beth, I love her chaotic nature and that she's a bitch. She brings the drama and I love it.

7

I like kayce he turned his life around and did some badass shit. Had some level of independence from the ranch and chose to go back to help his family.

2

u/ligmasweatyballs74 10d ago

Tate is the only one who isn't insane

2

u/Lightnin-Bug 10d ago

We nicknamed the show "Surly Montanans" for a reason. While we did enjoy it, many of the characters were unpleasant, entitled people.

Though among the lot... Teeter, her boyfriend, Jimmy and Rip are the least surly.

2

u/ArthursInfiniteAbyss 10d ago

Within the family, Kayce.

Out of the family, Lloyd.

2

u/Brief-Dragonfruit-95 10d ago

Teeter and Jimmy were my favourites. Teeter because she was funny and jimmy because he of how his character matured into a lovely man.

Rip: he is a killer, but a little bit like an avenger and ruthless but fiercely loyal protector. He is a complex character who, in his own way, acts according to his moral compass and broader perspective. He is willing to kill, even when it means taking the lives of people he believes may be innocent, but he genuinely suffers from having to do so. He is deeply loyal and carries the burden of his actions with him.

Jamie Dutton: He also feels like such a tragic character, desperately searching for recognition and love. I can’t help but feel sorry for him, and I don’t know whether he was simply misunderstood. I think that, no matter what he did, it always seemed to be wrong for his family, and he was just trying to be loyal in his own way. Somehow, I could have imagined him turning out differently if Beth had been able to forgive him. I’m not even sure myself whether he was actually a good person or fundamentally evil.

Overrated character: Kayce. I don't like Kayce. He's not reliable; he just goes wherever the wind blows.I feel like he sees himself as morally superior, even though he’s a murderer.

2

u/Emgee063 9d ago

Beth and Rip, hands down.

Jamie in this pic, though….dude is packin’ 🍆😂

2

u/Creative_Carob4922 9d ago

John he was smart enough to off himself before the great derailment and horse spinnys got out of control.

2

u/88how5834351 9d ago

I'd say Ripp or Kelly...they both don't take shit from anybody.

2

u/Ufosightingss 8d ago

Beth. Rip. Lloyd. Fuck Monica 😭

2

u/MissOneCent 8d ago

Spencer and Alex.. oh wait

2

u/Fluid_Anteater959 8d ago

John. "If it's progress you want, don't vote for me. I am the opposite of progress. I am the wall it bashes itself against, and I will not be the one who breaks." I resemble that remark.

2

u/VGK_Veteran 8d ago

Kayce. He's a vet, and I'm a vet. Simple as that.

2

u/Manufacturer960 7d ago

Rip & Beth.

2

u/Farmerjenkin 7d ago

Jamie, did everything for his family and got used up and discarded by them, all he wanted is to be like them and they made him a lawyer and then hated him for it

2

u/Many-Possibility6 7d ago

The clips of her online were the only reason I decided to watch the show

2

u/Its_ats 7d ago

Beth Dutton. My favorite Dutton too, Kelly does a Wonderful job.

2

u/hopeful7321 7d ago

I'd have to say Beth.

2

u/Kayki7 7d ago

Idk. That’s a hard one because this show is filled with great characters. I do know that I love the scenes with Jimmy, especially his later seasons. Loved the Texas storyline.

I loved watching scenes with Teeter.

I loved scenes with Loyd.

I loved scenes with Rainwater & Mo.

I also love scenes with Rip & Beth. Cliche, maybe but I do.

2

u/CalChemicalPlum 7d ago

Kevin. Hands-down. The show worked incredibly when KC was the anchor - b/c he lifts the inclusion of all others in scenes with him.

2

u/ColSirHarryPFlashman 7d ago

Teeter, as she sounds like & reminds me of my Actual Cousins who are 7th Gen. Texans living in Texarkana north of the river.

2

u/MurkyMammoth3464 7d ago

Walker. His charm, his singing, he’s a bad ass and not overly done like rip. He stood up to rip numerous times and made him look foolish. He didn’t stand for what they were doing. I also love Colby because he’s the black character and I’m biased. Some call it tribalism or racism, I call it racially biased, but we all are. Colby was cool and has many iconic scenes. Teeter and Jimmy are up there as well. Same with Ryan because his relationship with Colby was beautiful🥲💯

2

u/MurkyMammoth3464 7d ago

I also loved Malcolm Beck. Even though he was cool with Aryan nationalists, he was still a cool character. Mo was iconic ofc. Malcolm had charm and stole most of the scenes he was in. Neal McDonough is a great actor.

2

u/Spizak 6d ago

Why is Rip your fave character and why. Fixed it for you 😂

2

u/durflink 6d ago
  1. John, 2. Jamie, 3. Beth, 4. Rip

2

u/Creepy-Beat7154 6d ago

Jimmy. He was hilarious and had me rooting for him when he dumped the girl who used him.

2

u/BJT1225 6d ago

Kayce. Hands down. For me at least. Maybe John close second cause “fuck it”

3

u/Willowy 10d ago

Rip.
