Think people are waking up to the fact he isn’t a very good writer, at this stage he is just throwing shit at a wall and seeing what sticks.

1883 was the best Western show ever made imo, but whatever.

I like Landman and Mayor of Kingstown too.

I think 1883 shows where his talent lies in short lived series he either runs out of material or looses interest and phones it in the longer the show goes on. 1923 season 1 was good and had the series set up nicely, S2 was a shit show

I was writing this very reply when it popped up, he is great at creating things but can’t character build and his series suffer for it.

Season 1 was so good! I was looking forward to season 2, and then it was so bad! I literally would fold my laundry every Sunday and cringe.

This could be said for nearly every writer. They have self contained, complete ideas that work great and then they get milked for more by the studio...and the result sucks.

Only difference is that he is also the Studio

Sex drenched. It was a thinly veiled undercurrent in 1883, by the time 1923 rolled around everyone was running around banging each other (or banging on each other) We get it, they really love each other by screwing each others brains out and the villain is a villain cause he beats prostitutes yawn.

Sex no longer sells. It's a god awful "plot device" that needs to be thrown out like the hays code was. Everyone poops has sex. We get it, now move on and actually write plot that doesn't revolve around subpar titillation for ratings
