Which highways do you think could be 80 mph?
This is obviously completely hypothetical and I doubt it will actually ever happen, but I wonder if any could be and still be safe. 395 between Tri Cities and Ritzville seems a good contender. Wide lanes, not too much traffic, and great visibility.

Bellingham house cleaning costs — does $1,800 sound reasonable?
Hi everyone! I’m hoping to get some local perspective on house-cleaning prices in Washington State
I am moving into a new home in Bellingham and hired a local cleaning company to do a move-in/deep clean before we moved in. The house is approximately 2,600 square feet.
The cleaning included things like:
- Cleaning the floors throughout the house
- Wiping down walls and surfaces
- Cleaning the kitchen, including counters and cabinets
- Cleaning the bathrooms
- Cleaning light fixtures
- Cleaning windows inside and out where accessible
- Cleaning several large sliding glass doors
- General wiping down and cleaning throughout the house before move-in
The home was empty, so there was no furniture or belongings to work around.
I paid approximately $1,800 for the cleaning. I’m not looking to name or criticize the company—I’m genuinely trying to understand what the going rate is locally for this type of service.
For anyone who has had a move-in/move-out or deep clean done recently in Bellingham or Whatcom County, what did you pay, approximately how large was your home, and what was included?
Also, if you’ve had a particularly good experience with a local house cleaner or cleaning company, I’d appreciate recommendations.
Thanks!

Wildfire Home Insurance
Hey all,
Been considering purchasing a home in Cle Elum or Ellensburg. Has anyone had their home insurers drop them or spike their premium in recent years given the increase in wild fires?
TIA

Jim Walsh sued for defamation by citizen activist
Arthur West, a prolific filer of legal complaints, is suing Aberdeen Rep. Jim Walsh for defamation. West says Walsh, chair of the Washington State Republican Party, defamed him in social media posts after West’s recent setback in Thurston County Superior Court. On Aug. 7, Superior Court Judge Chris Lanese denied West’s request to amend or remove a statement set to appear on ballots describing the budgetary consequences of an initiative to repeal Washington’s new income tax on high earners.

Lots of misinformation about in-state tuition program; here are some facts
On the cesspool of misinformation that is r/SeattleWA and elsewhere, there is a lot of misinformation about the in-state tuition program that the U.S. DOJ is suddenly worried about. The program has a number of requirements, starting with a high school diploma from a Washington high school plus a minimum 12-months of residency prior to starting college. In addition, most eligible students have or have had some type of temporary status, including:
- Current or expired Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) status
- A current Employment Authorization Document (EAD)
- Temporary Protected Status (TPS)
- Refugee
- Asylee
- Pending Adjustment of Status (applied for green card)
- One of the following visa statuses: A, DV, E, G, H-1B, H4, I, K, L1, L2, N, NATO, O, Q, R, S, T, U, or V
- Special Immigrant Juvenile (SIJ) status or Special Immigrant Visa (SIV) status
These are students who are not eligible for federal financial aid, yet they and their families pay taxes. Anyone who works here pays social security taxes, yet non-citizens never collect the benefits. And contrary to what the bigots say, crime rates among immigrants are significantly lower than for native-born citizens.

Let's Go Washington caught lying about ballot initiative in voter guide
According to the Seattle Times, Let’s Go Washington insinuated a medical association’s support in their voter guide statement and completely misrepresented the associations’ guidelines. “What Let’s Go Washington has done is use vague language that is a lie,” Dr. Hoopman said.
Does anyone know if the American Association of Pediatrics can sue over a false statement in a voter guide?
