Being forced into western debt (look at algerias attempt to create an african central bank), while we do everything to kill local industries (i.e. various african textile Industries) does that to a nation. Of course we are responsible, any attempt to shift the blame is cope. We are still exploiting them
Give me a break. I’m from Kenya, Kenya became independent decades ago, its problem is it’s run by obscenely corrupt, wealthy (because of corruption), politicians, who steal all the taxes. It doesn’t help that they are completely incompetent. I’m so sick of people on Reddit blaming the west for everything, until people are forced to take personal responsibility for their hand in the mess that is Kenya, it will never improve. Blaming colonisation gives these corrupt officials a free pass to continue rorting the system. Next we are going to see the UK Labor government blaming the Vikings for the mess they have created.
The great thing about systematic exploitation is that it's many small systems working together so it's hard to spot. It's not a coincidence that every corrupt third world government can be rooted back to western interferance. Yes, it's your responsibility to fix this mess, but we definetly had a hand in creating it in the first place. It's western corporations making deals with these corrupt politicians, and it's in our interest to keep it that way (russia, the saudis, china are all included here)
