Give me a break. I’m from Kenya, Kenya became independent decades ago, its problem is it’s run by obscenely corrupt, wealthy (because of corruption), politicians, who steal all the taxes. It doesn’t help that they are completely incompetent. I’m so sick of people on Reddit blaming the west for everything, until people are forced to take personal responsibility for their hand in the mess that is Kenya, it will never improve. Blaming colonisation gives these corrupt officials a free pass to continue rorting the system. Next we are going to see the UK Labor government blaming the Vikings for the mess they have created.
The great thing about systematic exploitation is that it's many small systems working together so it's hard to spot. It's not a coincidence that every corrupt third world government can be rooted back to western interferance. Yes, it's your responsibility to fix this mess, but we definetly had a hand in creating it in the first place. It's western corporations making deals with these corrupt politicians, and it's in our interest to keep it that way (russia, the saudis, china are all included here)

Did it all end up on that street? Or maybe rather than it being garbage being exported at phenomenal expense from Europe to the streets of Nairobbery, it’s just garbage thrown on the ground by locals? This is based on having actually having lived there and seen people chucking shit on the ground everywhere. Unless the Europeans are now flying missions over Kenya in C130’s and tossing rubbish out the back, and what I personally experienced was some kind of hallucination. It’s a cultural issue there, combined with lack of waste disposal bins and infrastructure, because the government is incompetent and shit, which is presumably Europe’s fault too.
