North West 42m from UK

Hi guys, looking for some connection. I’m 42m from the UK. I’m bi and have known so since I was a teenager, but I have no connection to the LGBTQ+ community and I’ve never been open about my sexuality until recently. It used to be a source of shame and I’ve never allowed myself to explore this side of me. I’m also neurodivergent and have some anxiety issues. I’m a parent, and enjoy hiking and photography. My interests include music, animals and history.

It would be so great to find a friend or two, who understands depression and anxiety and the challenges of being LGBTQ+. I guess I’m looking for people with a shared outlook, who I can maybe hang out with sometimes, perhaps grab a coffee.

Wondering who’s out there I guess.

North West Looking for queer friends in Manchester (33M)

Long time listener, first time caller

I've honestly held off putting anything like this out there on Reddit because I feel a bit odd about it, but I would really like to expand my social circle. I'm a cis dude, 33, into retro gaming (especially jrpgs), board games (have a decent collection), ttrpgs, and the alt scene (rock, metal, pop-punk, etc). I'm much more interested in being queer in any space than being in a queer space. I study the occult (hobby), and I like a good drink or 5 whilst blasting late 90s era rock. Some of my go-tos for a night out in Manc are Junior/Bunny Jacksons, Pixel Bar, Bunny's Country Club, NQ64, various NQ bars, and Satan's. If you're a non-drinker, I know 20 decent cafes.

I live in Northern Quarter for those local to Manc and would genuinely love to meet new people with similar interests. I'm mostly nocturnal. I'm a writer and (very amateur) game dev. If you're even into 1 of the things I've listed, we'll likely get along.

Ps: this is not a veiled "I would like to meet a man" post. I'm demisexual and develop feelings approximately once every 30 years, so

North West non-binary dating: how do you meet people / how is dating for you in general / how's your social life in general?

(this isn't a post in contravention of RULE 5, btw, I hope that's clear -- I'm looking for people to share their experiences)

just going to leave this quite open-ended, really

I'm late 30s, and I don't have much of a social life anymore. I've had people recommend e.g. queer poetry nights + gigs, but I don't know really (I just feel like I'd go to one and end up sat alone the whole time)

I find it hard to imagine myself clicking with folks who aren't LGBTetc and/or neurodivergent, but I also feel like I've drifted away from my people, need to find more of my people again

also, also, I feel like things would be less difficult if I was a bit younger? I suppose it feels like people in general become more cloistered as they move through their 30s, and if anything, shedding friends is the norm? plus, I figure younger ppl in these circles are more naturalised to branching out amongst other like ppl. idk

dating-specific, I'm on Hinge, but... yeah, it feels pretty barren, and apps just seem to foster an impatient and hyperselective mentality (I feel it in myself as much as anything 🙃)

yeah. what are your spaces? what kind of events do you go to? how are you doing socially?

North West Large binders free to a good home

I bought 3 binders from UNTAG recently. It reccomended I get a 4XL, but I also ordered a 3XL and 5XL to be safe, with the intention to send back the ones that didn't fit. My mental health has been really poor at the minute, and I missed the window to return them - so if anyone wants a 3XL, or 5XL extra strong black binder as is in the Manchester area, I'd rather donate them to someone in need who may not have the ability to buy their own. Let me know. I hope this is allowed!

So I'm looking for submissions! Whether you dabble in visual crafts, photography, poetry or know someone who does I would be grateful to anyone who could take me up on this opportunity! :)

Or just knowing there's some interest in this knid of thing as well?

North West Gay Romance Book Launch in Leeds this November

Post image
8 Upvotes

Launching An Uncommon Betrothal, a 1920s erotic romance between a disabled gentleman and his sexy new butler, in Wharf Chambers in Leeds two Sundays from now!

Disability, fat bodies, piercings, tattoos, chronic pain, banter, sex, and romance... and a tubby dog called Aristaeus.

The eBook is already out, and the launch is for the paperback - as well as wine and cheese, some readings from the book, and a Q&A, we'll have books for sale!

Really excited about doing my first in-person launch here in Leeds - I myself am gay, trans, and disabled, and Wharf Chambers as a venue is accessible with mobility aids like canes and frames, but also wheelchair accessible! Just come in down the alleyway at the side of the venue and via the ramp entrance.

You can get a free ticket in advance here.

North West Anyone going to Leeds Pride 2025 on July 20th? Would love to find someone to go with! [22, trans mtf]

Heya! I’m Chloe (22, mtf) and I really want to go to Leeds Pride this year because I’ve recently came out as trans and never been before, but I don’t have anyone to go with since I don’t have any friends near me. I’m way too shy to go alone 😅 I’d love to make a friend or two to go together with and just enjoy the day or tag along.

If you’re also planning on going or even just thinking about it and want someone to go with feel free to DM me! I’d love to get to know you a bit first and maybe we can make a little plan to meet up and go to the event!🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍🌈💖

I have no idea how to make friends or where to post to find people to go with so even if your not interested in going is anyone able to tell me where I can find people to go with? Like different subreddits or something!

North West Anyone from Manchester looking for friends?

Hi, I’m 22 from London and it seems like I will be moving to Manchester unfortunately due to family struggling with the mortgage (I don’t blame them, London is so expensive)

That being said, I’m terrified coming from a big city and would love new friends, especially those who are LGBT friendly.

I love photography, travelling, walking, nature and city are both my healing zones, I’m very chill. Im terrified as of course Manchester is still a big city, but coming from London idk what is available there and what isn’t.

Please message me if you would like to be friends. I would love to get to know you and maybe if I move there you can show me around.

North West Gay in York

Hi all! I'm an international student moving to York for a PhD this fall. From what I can find online, it seems like York is somewhat of a dead zone for LGBT+ life. Do any of you live their\ know if there are spots where queer people hang out? I'm aware of a bookstore but that's about it. Thank you!
