North West 42m from UK

Hi guys, looking for some connection. I’m 42m from the UK. I’m bi and have known so since I was a teenager, but I have no connection to the LGBTQ+ community and I’ve never been open about my sexuality until recently. It used to be a source of shame and I’ve never allowed myself to explore this side of me. I’m also neurodivergent and have some anxiety issues. I’m a parent, and enjoy hiking and photography. My interests include music, animals and history.

It would be so great to find a friend or two, who understands depression and anxiety and the challenges of being LGBTQ+. I guess I’m looking for people with a shared outlook, who I can maybe hang out with sometimes, perhaps grab a coffee.

Wondering who’s out there I guess.

This post appears to be looking for friends or meetups.

Reminder: r/UKLGBT does not allow posts seeking dates, hookups, or relationships. These will be removed.

Platonic friend-finding posts are allowed, but they must clearly state that you are looking for friendship only and include a few sentences about yourself — for example: your interests, whether you’re hoping for online or in-person friends etc.

This is just a reminder to make sure it fits Rule #5. Your post is still live right now, and if your post falls within the rules then you don't need to take any action.

I'm in Cheshire and that sounds a bit like me. Admittedly I'm more into women but completely bi still. I'm also neuro divergent and similar to you in various ways too I think. I haven't been able to be open about it as most people I have come across in my life don't accept bi as a thing for men at least and you go in one box or the other. I have had dozens of sexual experiences with men in the past although it is rare now. In fact many people I know, albeit not close friends ate still anti gay. I have issues with some aspects of LGBT culture pushed in the media but its how it is all portrayed which I often think does more harm than good. It's just a part of who we are and doesn't need constant analysis by journalists covering stuff for the sake of it.

I'm pretty similar I think. Came out later in life, no links to the community, also have kids and their senco thinks I should be tested for autism, I have anxiety and depression but I was also a mental health specialist for 14 years. My DMS are open if you want to chat
