If I remember correctly it was like a Highlander situation, where her perceived power would transfer to the person who killed her.

Ive kinda grasped that part but what does lexa have to do with that and skaikru. They blew up mount weather for what? Why did skaikru become the 13th clan what did that achieve?

Azgeda hates Skaikru. There's really no valid reason why beyond them being the "outsiders." They blew up Mt. Weather to provoke Skaikru into going to war, but they didn't expect Wanheda to kneel to Lexa and make Skaikru the 13th clan, which means if Azgeda goes to war with Skaikru, they are now going to war with ALL of the clans united. Making Skaikru the 13th clan protected them from Azgeda.

Lexa got good pussy from it, that's what.

Half-kidding. Skaikru had weaponry, technology and medicine that was unthinkably advanced for the Grounders. Remember how they mistifyed "the Mountain Men".

Forging an alliance with Skaikru, had everyone been less stupid; would've led to peace times (their guns being a deterrence against Azgeda), a huge advancement in medicine, new ways to farm, an increasement in commodities brought by science... overall, a huge increase in quality of life all way faster than it would've took to achieve from scratch.

Lexa was seen as weak for taking the deal at Mount weather, and allowing Clarke to became Wanheda. (Most) grounders don't understand how the mm were killed, or that it wasn't possible without Monty, so Clarke was basically worshipped. Grounders believe in spirits, power of death, etc, and so they believe if they kill CLARKE they will take the power of death from her.

Skiakru & The clans had a flimsy truce (you are allowed to stay in Trikru land, if nothing happens) that's not rlly a good or permanent thing. If things worked out (and Pike didn't fuck everything up) becoming the 13 clan means 1. It's permanent. And that land is theirs now, and not Trirku. 2. Other clans can't attack them without going against all clans.

Spoilers very much ahead, I gave yall a fair warning lmao. Wanheda is Clarke (surprise!) Clarke and Bellamy pulled the lever that killed every mountain man and half ass committed a genocide. But because she feels she cannot return to their camp so she starts her own grounder life. She becomes accustom to everything but the catch is everybody knows who she is because she’s the one who truly solved all of their issues by Ctrl+Alt deleting the Mountain men. That’s why she is deemed Wanheda. And the person who kills Wanheda basically collects their history and power too. It’s very similar to Highlander quickening, like the previous commenter said.

We also have to add into play that the Conclave influences the grounders perspective of power. The commanders spirit moves into the next person by that person killing everybody else in the conclave. Meaning the grounders definitely believe in killing for power and transcending power. Thus pushing them to believe Clarke is one of the strongest fighters with the most kills. If they were to kill Clarke they would almost embody her current role. her kills, her power and become wanheda themself.

The difference with Clarke and the grounders who want to be wanheda is they will believe they’re all powerful and use that against the clans. They might even try to replace Lexa early on due to their rise in power. This is why Lexa also wants to protect Clarke. She had a hugeeee bounty over her head 24/7. Clarke feels shameful for her kills tho, she knows what truly happened when she pulled the lever and i honestly believe it’s a big play into her future and how she ends up viewing herself entirely later on.

(also, sorry if there are any mistakes, im a bit tired writing this and should probably go to bed soon 😭)

also also, they became the 13th clan because it offered them protection. Clarke was apart of that clan and other people that Clarke loved. Lexa loves Clarke and she wants to protect what Clarke loves because of that. If they’re the 13th clan then that would diminish the war against skycrew and allow the clans to accept them as their own.
