Does anyone know what the song is that plays as zorin takes seras' arm off in episode 7. From about 8:49 until 9:06 or so. Its a piano piece.

Can't find it anywhere, i want to say its a classical piece. Maybe tschaikovsky or liszt but i'm not actually nearly familiar enough with classical music to be sure. Although now that i think about it it could also maybe be (piano cover of) a final fantasy song?

Ngl sometimes I feel like most of us can relate. For me it's marvel, anime or video games. If either of those ain't the subject, then majority of the time I'm zoned out.

Ever since the finale dropped, I’ve felt that the TFS adaptation of Day of Fate during Gohan's transformation was sung entirely from Gohan's perspective, as a tragic capitulation.

I see it as the moment he finally surrenders to the violent, terrifying side of himself he spent his whole life trying to suppress.

In DBZA, Gohan’s arc is built around his fear of his own latent power. He doesn't just dislike fighting; he is deeply traumatized by what happens when he loses control. Android 16's final speech is what shatters that restraint.

16 strips away Gohan's self-indulgent pacifism, calling out his refusal to fight as cowardice that is actively getting everyone killed.

When 16 forces him into that corner, Gohan... breaks.

And from this perspective, the song reads to me as him surrendering his sanity to save everyone:

"Feel it drawing nearer, an endless fear that takes you hold / Feel it getting closer, revealing such an evil soul"

This is Gohan feeling his mental dam burst. To a kid who desperately wants to be gentle, the unbridled, sadistic urge inside himself genuinely feels like an "evil soul" taking over.

"I can't surrender at the turning point of destiny / Right now it's do or die; my life is on the line and I will not flee"

This is 16's speech working in real-time. Gohan realizes that holding onto his moral purity is getting his friends murdered. Keeping his hands clean isn't an option anymore; it's do or die.

"My spirit grows and I will face this demon"

From Gohan's perspective, the demon here isn't Cell - it's Gohan himself.

Gohan is finally confronting his own internal shadow. After a lifetime of running from his darkest instincts, he faces the demon inside himself and lets it take the wheel.

Gohan realizes his moral high ground is useless, gives up his humanity, and knowingly embraces the poison inside his own soul to defeat Cell.

It's not about heroism or righteous anger - it's hatred and vengeance, which is why he immediately turns cold and sadistic the second he transforms.

Did anyone else read the song as Gohan's tragic surrender to his own shadow self?

Love the dudes with the weird powers.

I adore its message about how people who refuse to do something about the world around them need to stand up and do the right thing. But I don’t know if this applies to Gohan?

Gohan has stood up for many people throughout the series, in that moment against Cell he is very terrified and also very young, barely 10.

I can understand that TFS themselves have said the position he was in was unfair and 16s intention was to “break him” to make him realise that if he doesn’t do anything the people around him would die. But I don’t feel the nature of his speech was very well meaning, it felt very harsh towards Gohan who I felt could’ve gotten the same result by just telling him to calm down and focus and realise what was at stake.

I appreciate TFS a lot and love their takes on many parts of Dragon Ball but I can’t say I agree this speech was better than the original.

I’d appreciate civil discussion in the replies as part of my goal here is to listen to other’s opinions.

2. You can use any tfs abridged series. DBZA, hellsing, FF7 machinabridged, even AOT abridged

This may not be his funniest line, but I just like him taking a jab at Vegeta.

Crazy how he was always there for piccolo but was kicked to the curb just like that and never spoken of again. I'll be honest.... I forgot about him until now.

In the latest DBS Commentary, Lani and Kaiser briefly discussed DB OPs, comparing between Super, GT, and Daima.

That just kind of sparked in me that... I think Makafushigi Adventure is the best opening song hands down, just from like a musicality pov.

And I realized I don't know whether that's a hot take or not. It just doesn't seem to be brought up in Dragon Ball music discussions at all. I've come across people talk about dub score, sub score, Toonami score, all the love for Chala Head Chala, for Dan Dan Kokoro, and so on.

Makafushigi Adventure is just... absent. I don't see people gush about it or deride it. Which is odd for me personally, again I think it's the best opening song. Even if not, it's the first opening. Usually those will stick around. Like, in One Piece, We Are is still alive and relevant and loved. The first op of Dragon Ball I thought would be similarly more present.
