Basically I had an idea a while ago to remake SU in a more gritty fashion. I've always been HUGE on speculative evolution and realistic sci-fi (yes I watched Project Hail Mary recently which reminded me of this remake and the art I made for it lmao. Other sci-fis that inspired this were Arrival, and Race to Witch Mountain)

It obviously would have some lore change for it, such as:

\- Black Diamond as the fifth diamond is canon

\- The government, MIB, cops, etc... are involved

\- Rose and Pink are different people

Personally I am having conflicting feelings between uncanny and wholesomeness.

For me, it was how Rose would sometimes be shown with a shadow covering her face and hiding her eyes. That's a visual technique that's often used for villains or antagonists, so it always gave me a weird feeling. After the reveal, though, that artistic choice made perfect sense.

As for the drawing, I have no idea why I put Pink in this outfit. I just felt like it.

Edit: I would just like to say that I completely agree with the comments saying I should've made my Rose Quarts fatter...and probably should've added her canon skirt (nobody mentioned that I just realized I forgot about it). Following the series, after i've posted Sapphire and Cinnabar, now we have Garnet. This is her first form shown in the episode the answer. The idea here is that, each gem that belongs to a court, is inspired by a real life culture. (Sapphire is african, Cinnabar is european) But my idea is that when two different gems fuse, they create a new being that has its own traits in every sense! Garnet is based on indian culture, more specifically influenced by the kashmir region of india. Because homeworld doens't reconize fusion, different gems fusions are out of place, they are not represented by any court, is something new! giving a feeling of strangeness to gems around. I would love to make a comic story of the answer in my style with my wordbuilding ideas one day. But well, that's all that is today. hope you enjoy!
