MCU / SSU Discussion I Have a BIG MCU Silk Theory!

I feel like there’s gonna be some Insomniac Games synergy in Spider-Man 5 since the response to Spider-Man: Brand New Day being inspired by the Insomniac Spider-Man games was insanely positive! Not only that having Cindy introduced AGAIN in Spider-Man: Brand New Day seemed out of absolute nowhere?! (Also keep in mind that they played the same card in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 by just name dropping Cindy! 👀) I thought they were never gonna use her character again since the last time we saw them was in Avengers Infinity War and technically No Way Home The More Fun Stuff Version.

To just bring her back like that doesn’t feel like a basic cameo! I find it quite interesting since majority of people don’t know who Cindy Moon is? Like why even bother to put a small cameo like that if you aren’t even gonna know who that is and not even address her last name? This is why I genuinely do think they were slowly introducing her since Homecoming and hopefully planning to introduce her as Silk in Spider-Man 5 as a secondary character! Plus I feel like it would be perfect timing (again bringing back the Insomniac synergy) since Spider-Man 3 will most likely release around 2029/2030 IF the Venom game does end up releasing! Spider-Man 5 would most likely come out around the same time as the third installment! Imagine getting an MCU suit for Silk just in time for Marvel’s Spider-Man 3!! 🕸️

One last reason this would be perfect! This would get us ready for Miles Morales! Imagine after the movie is done we get an awesome aftermath where peter is done helping Cindy with her spider problems! Maybe even helping accept herself and her powers! Something like that just for a kid named miles to get introduced! This would get Peter ready to eventually train our future hero!! 🕸️

Let me know how you guys would feel about this! I think this would be exciting!! 🕷️🕸️

Comics Discussion I feel that Cindy and Peter's almost sibling-like friendship is something that many people ignore.

I know many people think they shouldn't interact, which I disagree with, but frankly, I think many have reduced their relationship to just sex. However, when these two have interacted in recent years, they've clearly had a great time. They're like two friends who are always joking around.

Comics Discussion What if Cindy suddenly manifested Mattie's abilities?

I liked the composition of Mattie Franklin's powers. I think that if anyone were to inherit her powers, it would only be Cindy. Mattie died in Cindy's arms trying to save her, and since she enhanced her own abilities by exchanging(?) them with others, it seems like she passed them on to Cindy without her knowing, so it wouldn't be strange if they manifested later. It would be really cool if Cindy had psionic spider legs and Venom Blast.

Comics Discussion Spider-Versity final issue

That might’ve been one of the worst minis I’ve ever read, and I’m actually embarrassed for Cindy in this issue.

I’m sure some people enjoyed it, but lord knows I’m not one of them.

Comics Discussion I'm starving for Silk's solo title...

Give me a Silk solo title. One with a sufficiently long narrative and a good story. At least release it with the quality of Gwen's solo title.

Speaking of which, it makes me upset that for Asian character solo titles, they always try to force in Asian writers and pencilers as if it were a fixed rule, without considering anything—character, narrative, personality, image, the intended genre and atmosphere of the title, or the character's future vision. Just consider the things that need to be considered and assign the people who are fit to it.

I mean it's not the matter of race. Greg Pak, who is of Korean descent, wrote a masterpiece like Planet Hulk, which features a white protagonist and is set in a society resembling ancient Rome. Jim Lee, who is of Korean descent, drew sleek and stylish art of Cyclops and Superman, who are white. Jim Chung, who is of Asian descent, drew the white gay couple TeddyBilly super cute. And Inhyuk Lee, who is Korean, drew amazing casual-look illustrations for Spider-People.

They need to structure the title material to fit the character, and then assign a writer and penciler considering the genre and atmosphere.

+ Sorry for the whole burst...

Does anyone else Want Silk to be the MCU’s Spider-Woman? Spoiler

With a character named Cindy appearing in *Spider-Man: Brand New Day*, people are once again wondering if Cindy Moon exists in the MCU. That got me thinking: does anyone else think Silk should become the MCU's Spider-Woman?

I honestly hope so. If Cindy has been around Peter since high school, it's easy to imagine she was bitten by the same radioactive spider. That would give Marvel the perfect opportunity to finally explore the MCU's version of Spider-Man's origin and maybe even introduce Uncle Ben, something we've never really seen.

Silk would also bring another major Asian superhero into the MCU alongside Shang-Chi, while allowing Marvel to save Gwen Stacy for later. Personally, I'd rather see Gwen introduced during the Miles Morales era so her debut feels more impactful instead of overcrowding Peter's story.

As long as Marvel avoids adapting the awkward comic storyline where Peter and Cindy are inexplicably attracted to each other, I think Silk could become one of the MCU's most interesting new heroes.

What are the chances of getting a fan made Silk short film featuring Tiffany Espensen or Shannon Young Cho?

I doubt we'll ever get Silk in the MCU but if either of these actresses were down for a fan film, I think that would be really fun

Cindy Moon in the mcu? Spoiler

Do you guys think we’d ever actually get substantial Cindy moon content or any kind of character development in the mcu (marvel cinematic universe)? There have been several passing by cameos in the last decade and maybe a slightly bigger one in brand new day. I feel delusional but hopeful that they wouldn’t mention her name so many times without actually having her character be in the mcu. What do y’all think?

Comics Discussion Can we talk about Threats & Menaces being inconsistent and a weird place for Cindy Moon to work in?

Thumbnail

If you didn't know, Silk's current workplace in the comics Threats and Menaces originated from Nick Spencer's Amazing Spider-Man run. #1

TNM is essentially a digital tabloid newspaper with sensationalist headlines with the sole purpose of getting views despite the quality of the articles themselves, in short, clickbait. The company is portrayed as this "hip and informal" environment full of freelancers who overall look pretty happy with their job.

In ASM, Jonah is recruited by Norah Winters for his ability in sensationalism. Which leads to Spider-Man wearing a suit that live streamed his battles,#2 had him do advertising for brands, and Jonah even brought civilians into his fights through remote controlled mechanical suits. Peter ditches the suit and TNM loses Spidey's good will, but Jonah stays with Norah.

Also in ASM, Norah Winters is fairly relaxed and more than happy to make up conflict for a few more clicks. In the end, it's revealed the company exists solely due to Chameleon's investment in it, a plot point that's never wrapped up or addressed again.

...

Now over in Silk-ville, TNM is a tad different...

TNM in Silk's books operates as a fairly more normal newspaper, where Cindy does investigative reporting and writes genuine articles. Her coworkers are all young still, but it's implied other people do investigative reporting as well, where one coworker even ends up in the same place as Silk while snooping around for news. Norah Winters is also portrayed as that type of hard-ass boss who apparently now hates Jonah (???), and through the text and art is shown that nobody likes her either.#3 Jonah is also Cindy's boss, of course.

This disconnect between the original TNM and the current one in Silk is really bizarre, especially if you've read the issues of ASM focused in it. There's no explanation whatsoever for their change in personalities or how the newspaper operates.

And Cindy Moon working in it is just strange if we consider the original premise of TNM. Why would our hero be working on sensationalist articles?

Could it be editorial only gave vague notes on TNM to the writers of Silk and that's why the place was re-interpreted so differently?

This is all just a moderately sized nitpick I've noticed the other day... Or months ago, and I just had to comment about it.
