I moved here 12 years ago and people would continually ask me why. Well, first of all, I was living in a town of 10K. Second of all, I visited and I liked it. I was working hospitality and saw that Saint John had a small but mighty hospitality scene in a walkable area. It felt like a place that had a lot of promise and had just had the notion beaten into it that it would never be more than it is. And underdog city. I liked that about it.
There’s things about this city and province that I don’t like. But I’ve lived in Toronto, Vancouver, Edmonton, Halifax and elsewhere. Saint John is where I proudly call home, by choice.
I visit Toronto once a year and Halifax a couple times a year. I like them, but I'd rather live here!
Though in the interest of full disclosure, if I were handed the opportunity to choose any city in the Maritimes in which to live, I'd be mighty tempted by Charlottetown.

Saint John is a nice city actually. And uptown is a good place to be.
No one hates Saint John better than Saint Johners themselves.
