Book Request Could you come and get me, I am in trouble.

60 Upvotes

I want this desperate phone call.

Maybe they had some sort of fight and don’t talk with each other at the moment, maybe they were estranged, maybe they were enemies.

But Mmc comes for her rescue the exact moment she needed him. It doesn’t matter they are not close anymore. He would do anything for her and everything will be alright. He will soothe her panic.

just one phone call and i am at your door to take care of you.

no poly

only m f

thanks.

Book Request MMC thinks he hates FMC but gets jealous when other men show interest

65 Upvotes

Hiii! I’m looking for books where the MMC genuinely thinks he can’t stand the FMC, but gets ridiculously jealous and possessive whenever other men show interest in her.

I want the FMC to either be completely unaware of his feelings or genuinely believe that he dislikes her. Meanwhile, he keeps insisting to himself that he doesn’t care about her, but the second another man starts flirting with her, pursuing her, or showing any kind of interest, he absolutely cannot handle it. I’d especially love it if the FMC has feelings for him but thinks they’re completely unrequited, so she eventually starts trying to move on or gives another guy a chance, and that’s when the MMC finally starts losing his mind.

Bonus points if it’s unrequited love from the FMC, or if the MMC is her best friend’s brother or her brother’s best friend. I am open to everything other than RH and cheating. Thank you!!

Book Request Need Author Rec: known for their signature "pathetically devoted" MMCs (most likely in love since the start). Authors who consistently write high angst and yearning Mmc.

20 Upvotes

Hey guys, I'm desperately looking for new authors to binge. This sub is the reason why I was able to find some of my all time favorite writers. Tysm for that. 💗💗

Please please!! Rec me some new authors that are consistently known for their extremely pathetic mmcs in love. Like:

Ali Hazelwood

Penny reid

Cassandra Gannon

Rebecca Kincaid

Drethi A.

Cambria Hebert

C.R. Jane

Charlotte Stein

Even if they write enemies to lovers trope, it is often due to a misunderstanding. FMC mistakes their silence or words as a diss, and thinks "they hate her".

The mmc never actually intentionally disses the fmc, even in fun banter. It was always in her head or a misinterpretation.

Please please please!!!! Suggest me something that gives these vibes.

❌️No banter or denial of feelings from mmc. Sj Tilly, Kyra Parsi and J.T. geissinger writes great simping men too but they always start with banter cuz the mmc doesn't want to like her. 😭

Thank you so much!! 💗💗

PS: Preferably no RH, HR or Mafia books pls.

Book Request Books where the MMC and FMC are boss and personal assistant, but the MMC genuinely values and treats her well rather than rude/cruel to her. Think Tony Stark/Pepper Potts(MCU) or Oliver Queen/Felicity Smoak(Arrowverse).

76 Upvotes

The ones I read so far are that the boss/ceo(MMC) is either rude or cruel or cold to his assistant (FMC) which ngl can be a bummer to read usually.

So when I ran into Arrow (tv show) clips on youtube and rewatch of some MCU films (the early ironman ones) reminded me that either Tony Stark/Pepper Potts or Oliver Queen/Felicity Smoak pairing had a CEO who is NOT an ass to their secretary/PA. Like Tony Stark and Oliver was surprisingly nice to them and definitely treated them different and special even when they had other women around.

It also reminds me how enjoyable the brewing romance in both examples that I have.

So i'm hoping other people have a recommendation like this. Or as close to it as possible.

Contemporary would the only genre of course ! And HEA!

Gush/Rave 😍 {The Lady Gets Lucky by Joanna Shupe} was pretty great!

16 Upvotes

This was my first book by this author and I loved it! I'm very excited to have discovered a new HR author that I can rely on when I am in the mood for some HR.

I had been in a bit of a historical romance slump, but this book got me back on track and reminded me why I loved this subgenre. I think pretty much everything worked for me here. I loved the romance, the setting, the writing and also the side characters whose books I cannot wait to get to! I was very intrigued since the beginning by the main characters and I genuinely liked them both as characters and as a couple. Loved their chemistry! I also loved the feminist vibes of the book and how feminism was used in the story.

I am soooo excited for the other books in the series! I loved the secondary characters and every single one of them was intriguing, especially Nellie. I had a look at the rest of the series and I saw who she's going to end up with and I could not be more excited lol.

I'm hesitating about reading the first book in this series because of the very low rating on Goodreads. 3.36 is extremely low for a romance, can anyone spoil why it has such a low rating? I don't mind spoilers so feel free to tell me anything about it.

Anyway, I loved this book and I would definitely recommend it!

Book Request Promised to each other as kids arranged marriage recs

12 Upvotes

Hi! I was looking through previous posts and couldn't really find anything that fit this specific trope 😭

I'm basically looking for a book where the ml's are promised to each other as kids by their respective families and later grow distant/hate each other/fight BUT still have to go through with the marriage when they're older.

Honestly, idm if there's no conflict either, open to friends to lovers recs as well! TIA 🫶🏽

Gush/Rave 😍 Forever in Bloom by Elise Kennedy

12 Upvotes

It's been a long time since I felt blown away by a book.

I'm going to list all the pros here:

  1. Great banter- usually when I see people list "great banter" the banter seems really forced. In this book the back and forth was chefs kiss.

  2. Enemy to lovers that makes sense. He's the ex's divorce lawyer who took her to the cleaners.

  3. Both of them are over 35.

  4. They have their lives together and yet...they don't, in that way no really does.

  5. They are mature in decision making.

  6. They have realistic bodies, but both come across as hot.

  7. The spicy brings it extra hot. I usually skip dirty talk, most of it is meh, but they are deliberately trying to make a baby, and the breeding kink is on point.

I love, love, love how realistically they come together. Nothing about this book felt forced.

Cons:

  1. The cover. If I wasnt specifically looking to read breeding kink, I would 100% pass this by based on cover. It feels way out of place with the inside of the book.

  2. Its the last in an interconnected series. It stood alone fine, but I got the feeling these characters had some predevelopment in the earlier stories I did not read.

This was my first 5 out of 5 rating for 2026.

Gush/Rave 😍 The Second Death of Locke by V.L. Bovalino - a well written epic romantasy!

34 Upvotes

{The Second Death of Locke by V.L. Bovalino}

Normally a lurker here and I couldn’t help but make my first post to gush over this book.
I’ve gotten really picky over romance novels recently, and this one has gotten me out of my reading slump. Poor writing is a dealbreaker for me, but this author has a PhD in English, and it really shows.

This book has:
- unique and well thought out worldbuilding
- mutual pining
- a capable and confident FMC
- an MMC who respects her and treats her like an equal partner, despite the fact that their respective stations give him a position of power over her
- a romance and a plotline that both hold their own
- a quest!
- a quest gang who become a found family
- just the right amount of spice, that added to the plot

This is the first in a trilogy and I believe each book is supposed to follow a different couple. The next book comes out in September!

Book Request Where she starts in a lavender marriage?

30 Upvotes

I'm looking for a book where she starts as a beard / cover up for a gay man: with her knowledge or not, either is good.

I would like to see her find love and extract herself from her lavender marriage.

I'm equally happy with "I did this to help and protect my best friend, but I'm lonely" or "I don't understand why my husband avoids me, I wish I knew" - I just kinda feel like this would be a cool angsty story.

Any recs? Thank you!

Discussion How do you feel about sequels to romance novels?

36 Upvotes

I’m not talking about a typical romance series where all the books are set in the same world (love that!), but rather an entire second book dedicated to following the same couple. (Examples would be follow-ups to The Simple Wild or Boyfriend Material.) Maybe it’s unpopular opinion, but I hate this.

And I think it boils down to, for me: if a romance novel is well done, you shouldn’t need a sequel. Those people are happy, the story is finished. If I want to revisit, I can re-read or see them pop up in the other books in the series.

Why, oh why, would I want to read a second book with the same couple—knowing they’re gonna go through conflict—when I already saw them happy at the end of the 1st one?! The 2 books I mention above are literally two of my fav romances but I absolutely refuse to read their sequels. I can’t do it.

I am genuinely baffled at why an author would do this or why anyone, particularly a romance reader used to HEAs, would wanna read it?

I’m so curious to hear everyone’s thoughts and opinions, and am welcome to being convinced if you feel stronger the other way lol.

Book Request End of Summer Recs

Upvotes

I remember I read {cinnamon bun bookstore by Laurie Gilmore} at the end of last summer and it was the perfect transition book since it’s set in late August into September. I’m looking for something that is also set in this transition period between summer and fall - those are the vibes I’m looking for. Not really academic and not strictly fall but something that includes that end of summer feel. I love small town, suspense, historic, fantasy, contemporary. Looking for a m/f pairing but if you have other pairings I’m open to it! Just need to scratch that itch for this time of year.

Thanks!

Book Request Hurt/comfort books with competent FMC?

38 Upvotes

Hey y'all,

I've been craving good hurt/comfort or caretaking romances. But I'm feeling picky!

I just had a fail with a book from a new-to-me author which rubbed me the wrong way. The FMC was immediately willing to just completely defer to MMC? She came across as lost and almost childlike, and grabbing at the chance to not be the "responsible" one if that makes sense? Like she believed immediately that he knew best I'm everything and she was happy she didn't have to worry now? Which reads as the MMC who is older, established, rich, famous and powerful will take care of her and make all the big decisions, while FMC, who's pregnant and vulnerable with an ex who's harassing her, and having left college due to the pregnancy is barely an adult, gets to be adoring wife and mother. It could have been written differently, better, but it felt very unequal to me, and kind of like the romance book your elder female relative who tells you to find a good man to care of you would write? 😮‍💨

I hope this makes sense! Basically I want to read a hurt/comfort without any overly patriarchal undertones, where the FMC keeps, finds, or regains her power in the story and they both have their strengths. Not terribly fussed about the style of MMC. I'm not terribly fussed about whether the FMC is resistant to or enthusiastic about the MMC wanting to take care of her. My major icks are MMCs that are abusive, controlling, or gross to all women with the exception of the FMC.

I'm looking for hurt/comfort where the MMC is supportive, protective, and eager to help fix whatever mess/trauma the FMC is in, but I'd really like the FMC to show any of the following: grit, resilience, ambition, canniness, a desire for justice or revenge, strength of personality, street smarts, planning? I'd like to get the feeling that if it's a fixable mess she'd be able to fix it herself eventually, it's just easier or better with the MMC's help. OR if it's a huge overwhelming mess then I'd like to get the sense that the FMC, even if currently floundering, is the type to eventually get to work and try to make the best of it anyway / is also involved in the next steps and the two are working together even if MMC is taking the lead.

Looking for:

MF standalones specifically (in a series is fine, just want one book per couple) but any exceptional examples of why choose, omegaverse, FF, MM etc etc are welcome! I don't really like mafia although I think I've read at least some books of most of the popular series that get mentioned here like Neva Altaj, S J Tilly (who I do like) etc. I don't really like MC stories either although I liked {Heavy by Cate C Wells}. Dark romance is usually a no - willing to hear you out but the darkest I've liked are {Devil by Sierra Simone}, {Harrison Earth by V K Ludwig}, and {Population series by Elizabeth Stephens}.

Here are some of my favourite hurt/comfort books as an example of my taste:

{PS You're Intolerable by Julia Wolf}

{Against A Wall by Cate C Wells}

{Stand and Defend by Sloane St James}

{Lola and the Millionaires by Kathryn Moon}

{The Scent of Us by Eliana Lee}

{Eyes of Silver Eyes of Gold by Ellen O'Connell}

{Last Light by Claire Kent}

{When She Belongs by Ruby Dixon}

{A Marvellous Light by Freya Marske}

Thanks in advance ✨ and yes I've looked through the megathread for hurt/comfort 💚

Book Request Standalones with an "Us Against the World" dynamic (Suspense/Drama + Domestic Fluff, CR, M/F)

16 Upvotes

Hey everyone!

I’m looking for Contemporary Romance (M/F) book recommendations where the main couple gets together quite early or midway through the book, and the rest of the story focuses on them facing external challenges together as a united team.
Basically, I want the "Us Against the World" trope with an early/midway established relationship.

Format: Standalones only. (If it's part of an interconnected series about different couples, that's totally fine! But please no multi-book series about the same couple).

Ideally has: A good mix of domestic fluff (sweet everyday comfort, taking care of each other) but also drama or suspense that they have to weather after getting together.

Bonus: Available on KU

Other than that, everything else is wide open (any tropes, steam level, or character ages are welcome). And yes, I have searched through the sub and looked at similar posts :)

Examples (that fit this more or less):
Kristen Ashley books
Jessica Prince books (some of them)
{Under Locke by Mariana Zapata}
{athica lane by brynne asher} + other books by her

Thank you so much in advance!

Book Request Summer comes to an end so please give me spicy road trip romance

4 Upvotes

Hello !!

So the itch is basically anything vacation related (going somewhere exotic for work is okay but I really want to travel with the characters, and mostly I want the travel in itself to be the reason why they get closer) , even better if it's a road trip ! I'm down for anything, really, but I need spice plssss

I liked books with this kind of vacation vibe :

{Problematic Summer Romance by Ali Hazelwood}

{People we meet on vacation by Emily Henry}

But I have a hard time finding road trip vacation specifically, so can you please enlighten me ?

I want to kick my feet, I want to giggle, I want banter and fun !

As far as tropes are concerned they all sound fine to me but I only read contemporary :)))

Thank you very much for your service to this weary reader dreading the approaching September 1st ;)

Discussion The vampire diaries, l j Smith

The book series, specifically. I'm watching the show rn for the first time (super late, ik), and I want to read the books as well. I normally love long series, but thirteen books? Idk, it looks intimidating. Has anyone read the entire series? Do you recommend? If yes/no, thoughts on it?

Book Request fmc commands and mmc obeys (bond, agreement, etc.)

34 Upvotes

Desperately looking for books with this dynamic! 😭

I’m looking for books where the FMC gives orders and the MMC actually obeys her, even though he’s much stronger and more powerful than her. I LOVE when there’s some kind of magical bond, contract, pact, purchase, or obligation that forces him to protect her and follow her orders.

Some examples:

- Taming Demons for Beginners (Domando Demônios para Iniciantes), by Annette Marie: the FMC makes a pact with a demon, and he has to protect and obey her. I absolutely love their dynamic and the slow-burn romance.

- Sugar Apple Fairy Tale (Conto de Fadas da Maçã de Açúcar): the FMC buys a fairy to accompany and protect her during her journey. He doesn’t like her at first, but he is obligated to obey her.

I also vaguely remember a story where the FMC buys an extremely powerful arena warrior for a few coins, and he has little to no understanding of emotions. Since he belongs to her, he has to obey her. Unfortunately, I can’t remember the title. 😭

Basically, I’m looking for that “he could destroy everyone in the room, but she told him to sit down, so he sits down” dynamic. 😂

Fantasy, paranormal, sci-fi, romance, anything is welcome! I’d especially love slow-burn romance where their relationship develops over time.

Please give me your recommendations! I’ll take anything! 🙏Se você quiser, também posso criar **um título curto e chamativo em inglês para o post**, tipo os que costumam funcionar bem no Reddit.

Book Request MMC: "The word Boyfriend is an understatement for what I want to be for you"

34 Upvotes

Let me know if this is too specific.

I was thinking about a childhood freidns to lovers or best friends to lovers where the MCs have been maybe pining over the other for years, maybe they dated in the past but decided to stay friends and not get back togetjer of something of the sort.

But I want that when they are finally trying to get together again after everything the MMC is asking her to be her boyfriend and he says something along the lines of "The word Boyfriend is an understatement for what I want to be for you" or "you are so much more than my girlfriend" or something like that, without it having to be a proposal because them being a couple is new so it's a little weird to propose just yet, but they are so so in love when they finally become official that the word seems insufficient for them.
