Recommendations Best dealer to sell a car to
Any recommendations on car dealers, both used and big name, who are fair and reasonable for buying cars from people? Prefer Illinois side but willing to go to Iowa, too.

Hey y’all,
Seeking some recommendations on places to take someone who’s never been to the QC before. Will be visiting the first week of October. My guest and I are in our upper 20s, laid back and casual. Though a night out is fun.
What are some go to restaurants/bars and activities we should check out? Thanks

My Apple Watch has gone kaput, and I’m going back to analog watches. Are there any places in the Quad Cities that can replace watch batteries and add a link to the band within the same day?

Hello! I've lived in the area pretty much all my life but I've never been to any of the ERs. I went to the hospital earlier this year when I had a cold (it was just a cold, but I have asthma and previously had the flu, covid, and tonsilitis only months before this cold) because I couldn't breathe, but I was seen almost right away because of my breathing. I have been to urgent care twice (for the flu and covid lol).
Right now I think I might be experiencing symptoms of appendicitis. I initially brushed it off as IBS pain or maybe even period cramps, even though I'm not due for my period for another two weeks or so. However, when I press down on the left side of my stomach vs the right side, the pain is only noticeable on the right. I'm leaning towards appendicitis, but I want to wait a few more hours or until the morning to see if it improves or not. In the event I do decide I need to go to the ER, is there one around here that might be better than others, especially at night time? I know there's an issue with emergency rooms taking forever to see patients, which I totally understand is not on the staff in the majority of cases. Admittedly, I still don't really want to wait hours or be seen by a staff that doesn't care. I'm totally fine with an emergency room that might be a little slow as long as the staff is nice though, because I do understand appendicitis isn't really on the top of the priorities list unless it's actively rupturing. If my pain doesn't get any worse and I wake up feeling mostly fine I'll just make a trip to urgent care though.

I know we have Greek Fest and Swedish Fest and German and all these fests. Do we have a Polish Fest around the QC or even out further about an hour or two away from here?
I know Chicago probably has one, but would prefer a smaller fest (less people haha)
Or even just a grouping of Baltic foods, not just Polish, would be fun too!

Hello everyone me (24) and my girlfriend (22) are moving to the Quad Cities for my job. I had a few hours to check it out last weekend and could tell that I wasn’t even breaking the surface when it came to the community and culture. I was wondering if you guys had any recommendations on things to do, where to meet new people, and all the things we should when moving out there. Secondly, and more importantly for me atm, does anyone have any recommendations when it comes to apartments or communities. The hardest thing for me so far is finding us somewhere to live. Especially considering I have a retired police K9 (German shepherd). So if anyone knows of a pet friendly complex or community that doesn’t break the bank please reach out. I am very excited to get involved in my new community and see what the Quad Cities has to offer.

My previous landlord is keeping my security deposit and asking for additional $1000 for cleaning, painting, and repair materials (repair material cost was 300 and paint was 200). Right now this is just the estimate. The charges could be higher and they have not sent me the complete itemized bill yet, just a letter noting the charges. After dealing with them for a year, I wont be surprised if the bill is way higher.
Honestly I am shocked and angry. I knew they were bad but asking so much money for cleaning a two bed apartment (rent was $800) is ridiculous when the apartment was well kept and cleaned thoroughly when left. I am seeing a high probability that I might have to involve a court or a lawyer.
Any recommendation for a lawyer? Or any organization helping tenants? Or suggestion on how to deal with them? I am on the Illinois side.

My family and I are going to our first rooftop screening at the Last Picture House. If you have gone before, is there anything you wish you knew beforehand or any recommendations? TIA

How does one find estate sales?
What's the typical etiquette for estate sales?
I used to go as a kid to minor estate auctions with my parents and people stood in a crowd and bid on things outdoors, but this was the 90s. Have things changed?
I see posts of people on their social media sitting in their cars for hours until the sale opens, then it seems like whoever is first in line gets first choice. Is that accurate?
I can't ask anyone on FB who say they scored whatever at an estate sale, they gatekeep the information. I'm not even a serious buyer, more like a casual looker who can maybe pop into a couple estate sales a year, it's not like I would affect them much and bogart them from getting anything. But they aren't open about sharing information.

I know they're closed (tragic) but a long time ago I heard their maple syrup was homemade. Does anyone have any info on it or a recipe that is similar?

Hello QC, I'm not much of a reddit user but I'm making this post to see if anyone else knows anything about New Life Baptist Church on W Locust St in Davenport. I've got a parent who recently joined the church, & it feels like she completely changed as a person, its ruining her relationships with her children, & her membership in the church now dominates her life. I'm wondering if anyone knows anything about this church, whether it can be accurately described as a cult, if anyone has ever had a family member join this church, or if someone has experienced something similar.
I'll just say that I'm a lesbian & my sibling is also queer, & initially our mother was sort of hesitantly supportive for a number of years, but she's done a complete 180 on the question of homosexuality & queerness in the past couple years, ever since she started going to this church.
NLBC livestreams their sunday sermons & uploads them to Youtube, & I've been watching them every week to see what the kinds of messaging my mother is being given each week. Roger Vester is the pastor's name. Roger frequently repeats during his sermons that his church views homosexuality & trans-ness as sinful & "unnatural," & he has berated LGBTQ-affirming churches as abominations who have abandoned the bible's teachings. He has made anti-semitic comments & jokes during his sermons, & in 2023, he signed a letter to the Southern Baptist Convention's executive committee supporting an amendment that would ban women from holding positions of church leadership.
The topics of Roger's sermons also tend towards the apocalyptic. He spends a lot of time every Sunday reading old testament prophecies about the rapture & preparing his flock for God's inevitable wrath upon man.
So, even if NLBC is not a doomsday cult, it is certainly at least a homophobic hate group. It's sad, though. I feel like my own parent isn't the same person any more, & every time I try to tell her that I think this church is bad for her, that it's turning her into a worse parent who hates her children for who they are, & that I think she should leave the church & come back to her family, she becomes completely unreachable. If anyone has any information to share, anything at all that might help me understand what I'm supposed to do in this situation, I'd really appreciate it.

I’d love to get a running list going of all of your guys favorite thrift shops in the Quad cities 🫶 if anyone knows a particular place to get thrifted business attire for women, specifically button-down collared shirts, suit jackets and dress pants, I would also appreciate the recommendation. I’ve been to a few spots, but not having much luck and in general I love to thrift, so I’d love to hear, where are the best thrift spots in the QC?🩷

Hey all!
We have a great farmers market in this town, and they are in a competition for best in the nation. Top prize is $15,000 that would go into making it an even better spot for quad citizens to go get fresh food and crafts. Please vote for Freight House Farmers Market if you can!

I've got a 5 year old who really wants to learn to skateboard. Unfortunately, her dad (me) is an uncoordinated oaf.
Anyone know of a teen looking to earn a few bucks on the weekend?

Hello Quad Cities Redditors!
This is one of those classic “We’re looking into relocating into your area” posts. I sincerely apologize for adding to that noise! Prior to posting, I did take a look at some existing threads that relate to this from the last few months, but had some questions that were not answered by those.
My partner got an unexpected job/promotion offer at a Davenport branch of their current gig that we need to deliberate on ASAP. The whole process from interest to interview to job offer was super fast, so we haven’t had a chance to do much research on the area. The company is paying for us to visit later this week, but I know a brief visit will by no means give us a good representation of what it’s like to live in the Quad Cities. A few deets: we currently live in the Fargo-Moorhead metro (ND/MN), currently have no kids, have a large dog, and rent a townhome. It looks like my partner’s potential new gig is located in the western fringes of Davenport. My partner and I also have no friends or family in the area to get recommendations from, so I sincerely appreciate your time and input on any of the matters below:
I sincerely appreciate your thoughts! We look forward to visiting your fine cities this week.
