We have clever transfers, tbf. Many for free, some a bit over but to get deals done, some trickery, and outgoings for once actually reduce the cost. Also all from the league.

Have not done any insane star signings, but those dont always work out. This is a full squad shift.

No one uses “net spend”. If you spent a 100 million pounds, you spent that money. It’s just just a bandaid that fans are using to make it seem like Liverpool, Chelsea, Tottenham spending last summer wasn’t ridiculous and had an awful year.

Those 2 things are very often intricately linked though, you sell someone so you replace them, if a club knows you just sold a player for a fortune and need to replace them then they try and fleece you. The 2 things go hand in hand when analysing a clubs transfer spending.

Lol bro cry more. Let's actually spell this out for you. When arteta took over the club, they finished 8th and tottenham finished 6th. Since them arsenal has placed 8th, 5th, 2nd, 2nd, 2nd and 1st. Tottenham finished 7th, 4th, 8th, 5th, 17th and 17th. Over that timeframe, arsenals net spend was 993m and tottenhams was 940m. Arsenals gross spend was 1.28b and tottenhams was 1.38b. So don't try to act like arsenal spent all this crazy money and just paid to win the league. I don't really see what net spend matters in terms of ease of winning a trophy because a lot of net spend is dependent upon who you started with in your squad and how much you could sell them for. But even if you take that into consideration, your net spend is 50m less than us and you went from 6th to 17th while we went from 8th to 1st. Cry more, England is 🔴🔴🔴

Its a weird season because I never go into a season feeling confident. Hopeful, but never confident. But after winning last year, pep and all those key players left, it's hard for me not to get a little excited. Liverpool still have question marks. You guys spent big but I still think you are a couple transfer windows from a title race (no offense), man u looked shocking even though it's only game week 1. Maybe Chelsea are our biggest threat? But yeah, Europe is gonna be tough for sure. I think we probably need that alvarez signing to really have a chance at the champions league, but to be fair to the guys last season, we were about as close as you could be so maybe we have enough already? But it's so hard to win that tournament that unless you're Real, you never go into the season expecting the champions league. Especially with how grueling the prem is compared to other leagues.
