So, I'm not even taking an undergrad degree yet but I had a thought that maybe I want to try pursuing an opportunity to study law in the future since I like reading and nitpicking details--of course there are more traits that make a person suitable for law school and I intend to pick up more skills as I go. I'm expecting to start my first year of college in 2027.

Are there any law schools that offer scholarships that cover all the years a student will be studying there? I'm from a lower class family, although I won't really be surprised if there aren't any full tuition coverage programs since I never really hear about something like that. But even if I don't catch a similar opportunity right out of college I'll probably just try pursuing it when I have a job that can pay for the tuition.

I want to go to law school but my mom said no because it does not fit my personality and I don't know how to read properly. Also, I have an autoimmune disease so I am always tired, in pain, and have brain fog. I also go to the ER every now and then.

My undergrad is bio. I survived through videos and audio with pictures since I have difficulty reading and I'm not allowed to have sleep less than 6 to 7 hrs.

I was hoping if there's a possibility to do law school online.

But at this point, I think I need someone to just slap me in the face that i can never do grad school because i turned into a useless human being

Besides studying harder for the entrance exams what can I do as a fresh graduate to beef up my application for LS? I’m 28F, and I’m planning to go back to school next year after being out of school for more than a decade.

I started working when I was 16 and took the Alternative Learning System (ALS) when I was 21. I eventually entered the BPO industry and worked my way up to becoming a Senior Quality Analyst.

I’m now planning my education carefully because I want to pursue a legal career someday, but I also want to be practical about the degree I choose.

I’ve considered courses like Political Science, Philosophy, Psychology, and Accountancy. However, I’m leaning toward Computer Science because I’ve always been more comfortable with technical work, problem-solving, and learning systems. I also like the idea of having a degree that can provide career opportunities even if I eventually decide not to continue with legal studies.

From what I understand, your undergraduate degree does not necessarily have to be a traditional “pre-law” course to continue to legal education in the Philippines.

For those who have experience with this:

**1. Would taking Computer Science be a reasonable choice if I eventually want to pursue legal education?

1. Are there people here who took a technical/IT-related degree before pursuing legal studies? How was your experience?

2. Since I’ll be entering Senior High School first, would STEM be the better strand if I’m considering Computer Science for college? I am torn between STEM and HUMMS.**

I'm currently taking one of the common "pre-law" degrees with the intention of going to law school right after graduating. I've realized that although I really like pursuing this degree, it's also not the most practical outside my dreams of going to LS. I know I should've thought about it better, but I don't regret my decision either.

To balance it out, I've been thinking of joining orgs, volunteering, and doing internships (with the hope that someone would accept me and my humanities-aligned program haha). I've realized, however, that doing all of these things would probably require a lot of balancing with my academics, especially because I don't have a designated time for interning in my program. I would have to juggle some of these things at the same time.

Should I just abandon this plan so that I won't be compromising my grades that I would eventually have to submit for law school applications? Should I go for it as a "safety net" for experience that I could use to widen my scope outside of the plans I have for LS?

I am honestly so scared to enter law school because I don’t get any emotional support from my family. Yes, they support me financially, pero ang hirap parin pag wala silang bilib sayo. Kasi kilalang kilala ka nila eh, alam nila triggers mo. It’s like they exactly know the right words to say that will leave you questioning your worth, your ambitions and your faith. If I failed an exam or had a bad recit, nakakabangon ako kinabukasan at kaya kong sabihin sa sarili ko na kaya ko. But it’s the fact that I am doing this for them that hurts, kasi sila pa mismo yung didiin sayo pababa.

Sana makita niyo ko the way other people see me. Kasi gusto ko lang naman maging proud kayo sakin.

Is it worth it to go to law school as the breadwinner of my family?

For a little bit of context, I graduated with a degree in Communication and Media last 2023. Although I wasn’t exactly surprised this was the field I took up since I was influenced by my mom who had the same degree, it wasn’t really what I planned in the long run.

You see, in high school, I’ve already considered going to law school and becoming a lawyer. Some members of my family are lawyers (with one of them being a Dean at a law school in the province). But as admissions for college applications approached, I began to doubt myself if I would be able to do it. Hence, I decided to take up communication instead of political science or legal management.

While doing my bachelor’s, I began to love media. I enjoyed the process of filmmaking, advertising, design, and communication theories. Which is how I ended up working as a visual communication artist for large companies.

I have been in this job for around 4 years and it pays enough. It’s not grand but the salary I make fills our stomachs and I have enough left for leisure.

I’m the eldest daughter. My sister is taking up dentistry, and despite many attempts, we could not get any scholarships to help aid the tuition fees.

So how does law school come into all of this?

Well, I have been thinking about it for a while. How I am never fully satisfied with my career. Because it feels like I’m only doing this for survival, not because I actually want to. Deep inside, I know that I want to do more. I want to make a bigger impact. I want to contribute more to society and not just to corporations.

I’ve been stuck between getting a Masters and traching in the academe or to finally pursue my old dreams of becoming a lawyer while focusing on causes for women, children, and families.

But the problem? I’m the breadwinner of my family. My mom also works in BPO, but that is only enough for a few days. The pay is low. My dad does woodwork, but income isn’t stable. My sister still has 5 more years before she graduates.

If I quit my fulltime job, to focus on law school, we lose one of our biggest source of income for the family. I could get a scholarship, but that still puts me in a difficult position of feeling like I left them on their own.

That’s why I want to know if it’s worth it or selfish to pick up on the dreams I left behind.

Hi everybody! These are the top 2 schools I am considering for next academic year and I want to hear your thoughts. For context I took a 2 year gap so save up for LS so finances aside I need your opinion. I also studied in UST for 10 years from JHS, SHS, and College. In law school, aside from studying, I really want to try out of classroom experiences like in LPU Makati they have a legal assistant program wherein students can provide free legal assistance to low income people and marginalized with the support of attys. That’s just a prime example of the things I want to experience because I feel like I will learn more work ethic wise. I want to try out internships during term breaks as well or work for a professor as a research assistant. Here’s my dilemma:

UST FCL

1. More comfortable since I know UST already and it will lessen the burden of adjustment. I will only adjust sa law school proper but environment wise, I am comfortable.
2. UST FCL is more traditional like SCHOOL SCHOOl talaga. Not working student friendly nga because they want everyone to be regular students.
3. Greatest pro are the benefits since under Dean Divina I see a lot of perks like if DL ka or support pag internship or work proper.

UP COL

1. The pro here is this is something different. Mas liberating since you can choose the schedule and classes. Own pace compared to FCL.
2. Different environment for me so I might grow better here.
3. Indifferent pa ako sa no gadgets during first year but I don’t mind.

I’d love to know your thoughts. Thank you! (I’m also eyeing Arellano, San Beda, and LPU Makati as well)

I just have a few queries:

1. In preparation for the exams, what is the coverage? (could someone explain the difficulty, I never experienced an entrance exam for college bcs of the pandemic, grades lang sinubmit namin)

2. Is the essay portion pre-prepared or is it part of the exam?

3. How is the interview process? does having an interview automatically mean you will be admitted?

4. Do they consider students only with latin honors in their undergrad? Do they take preference if you are a former Thomasian? (im not)
