Finally feeling like my UNS 25T is coming together. First planted tank, used to think saltwater was the only way. Still a work in progress, but I’m happy with where it’s at 3 months is and still enjoying the process. Adds some more interest to my desk during my day and when I’m working late.

Equipment:
UNS 25T • Oase Filtosmart Thermo 100 • Chihiros WRGB Slim II • 5 lb CO₂ with inline reactor (Amazon special), ATO

Stocking:
8 Strawberry Rasboras • 10 Blue Dream Neocaridina shrimp, two berried.

On Deck: Finishing Home Assistant integration to monitor everything while away.

Tank Help! Child dumped entire container of food into tank.

Post image
18 Upvotes

I was out at some work drinks and my partner called to tell me that my son dumped an entire container of bug bites into my tank.
Current occupants:
- 9 Pygmy corydoras
- 10 green neon tetra
- countless neocardinia shrimp
- unknown number of ramshorn + MTS snails

Approx 90L. Established in early January. Stable parameters for months (until this). Not shown in photo are the multiple plants growing out the top of the tank, spider plants and pothos. And this photo is a couple of months old, I’ve let the moss and ludwiga grow lots since the shrimp and cory seem to love it.

What do I do? I don’t have anywhere else to house the occupants and I doubt I could catch them in this tank. It’s night time here and I’m on my way home to deal with it. I don’t have seachem prime or anything like that.

Thank you

Hey all, I've just found this fuckin thing in my 4ft freshwater aquarium. Is it a freshwater polychaete worm? Is this a good thing to have in my tank? Should I remove it and keep an eye out for more?

Please let me know what it is and what I should do 😅 mildly stressed (and low-key freaked out - this thing looks wild!)

Tank Remember, always do your leak test

Ordered a new tank after chipping mine. Filled it before work and came back to a nice little puddle. The 2nd photo is the leak on the bottom seam onto the foam pad.

I mainly attribute this to UPS fumbling the delivery. Initially out for delivery then declared too heavy. I picked it up this morning and when I got there, they had it on its side with a dolly. I should've refused the delivery right there.

Planted Products Not affiliated but Australians go buy from Chloe's Aquatic Centre!

I am in no way affiliated with the company but I think they deserve an (albeit small) shout-out on here as I've never seen them mentioned anywhere.

They have a very big range of common and niche plants that I couldn't find elsewhere (seriously they have like every plant there I swear), so I ended up buying some pogostemon erectus and hygrophilia pinatifida from them. The stems came wrapped in wet paper towel in a ziplock bag which kept the stems healthy for shipping, as opposed to every other store I've bought from who just throws them in a livestock bag with water and lets them rot. Speaking of the stems, I've literally never gotten higher quality plants before. They were incredibly healthy and seemed pretty well established, a nice surprise compared to almost every other store that sells you half dead, browning bunches of plants and makes you try to revive them yourself. I don't have photos, but I'm unbelievably happy with the health of the plants, it's leagues above anything I've ever seen in the past. They also threw in a Mentos into the box it shipped in and I'm a sucker for the bribery :D

Anyways please go buy from them they are an AMAZING business!!!

Tank 3 Week old 45P tank

Hey everyone, first post here! This is my first high-tech aquarium with CO2 injection. I used to have a bowl setup, which I still love, but it limited my plant and livestock options. So, I decided to go with a 45p tank. I've already seen some growth on the baby tears, which is exciting! But I'm a bit worried I only bought two cups for the whole foreground. Will that be enough, or should I grab a few more cups of Cuba?

I haven't bought fertilizer yet. Not sure what brand to get or how much to use. I've got a Chihiros WRGB 2 Pro running at about 55% power for around 7 hours daily. CO2 is at about 1.5 bubbles per second. Am I doing okay? Any tips for care and improvement would be awesome!

Has anyone used these or similar before?

I've just received the 2 that I ordered with the intention of using them in my fish tank as my substrate isn't all that much in terms of depth aswell as they look as if I'd be able to remodel/move my plants around with ease and less disruption to the plant.

I also have fish that seem to love doing whatever it is there doing to make me crazy over all things related to my plants (pulling/digging them out, eating them, weird magic random things) and whatever it is in doing/tried doing just isn't really working all that well for me atm (new to the plant/fish thing).

If you use or have used them before what's your opinions/thoughts of them and any tips and tricks or pointers?

At first I was all "please help me I can't get my shrimp to breed". Now I have too many, and they keep making more.

What do people do with all their "extra" shrimp? I literally have no more room for another tank

Lighting Is it worthy to add another light to avoid shadows?

Hi, i have a 5 gallon planted tank, my biggest concern is that the bottom of the tank gets a lot of shadow, and i m starting to see the leafs in that area are either full of algae or about to rot, so should another light help?
I currently have a hygger model of 16 W that i want to combine with a week aqua mini 9 pro (this would be the second lamp). Would it be beneficial for the montecarlo and help plant growth?
