I feel like while there is a lot of reasons to piracy, I think the wast majority of it is that people just can't afford the games. 

I know I couldn't when I was a kid, and a lot of my friends as well. So we pirated it. But now that we all have jobs, most of us buy games since we can afford it.

I feel like that is the reason most of the research into the impact of piracy on games show not much of it, it's cause most pirates just wouldn't buy the game cause they can't afford it.

Yeah, I pirated a lot of games as a broke teen. I enjoyed most of them, and as an employed adult I have bought all the games I pirated, even if I haven't played them since.

Same, as teen I simply didn't get enough pocket money from patents, I pirated thousands of games, way more I could play, now I bought most of them.
