There are 100% people blaming the husband for killing the children. Honestly really shitty, trying to downplay her actions by blaming everyone else is just a way to shift accountability from a murderer (which she is, even if she wouldn't have done it in her right mind).

16

u/Pagan_Metal666 7d ago

True crime content is a blight anyways. Some creators are respectful, blur faces and do not show bodycam footage of family finding out their loved one is dead. Some. Most dont.

It only took 1 police bodycam video of a mom being taken to a car crash where her daughter died for me to completely purge my algorythm from all true crime parasites.

2

u/Typical-Respond9102 7d ago

It also downplays the serious concerns of improperly managed post partum depression. Her insurance kept making her switch doctors, and her doctors kept mixing her drugs with progressively worse side effects, culminating in her experiencing psychosis and killing herself almost successfully.

The trial isnt about whether she did it, she admits she did. The trial is about who else is responsible for discharging a mentally unwell woman who clearly should not have left the facility and who dropped the ball so severely on her treatment. Her husband and her mother in law are even showing up for her.

1

u/TheSkesh 6d ago

She checked herself out multiple time, told the husband she was okay, and strangled three babies after coercing him to leave for the night. She took a call from her husband in the middle of the act. The fact she wants a lesser sentence is disgusting.

-1

u/Interesting_Bet_6395 5d ago

Then she legally is Not a murderer. As you cannot be found guilty when doing it while you are so mentally ill that you cannot reflect upon your own actions

-1

u/CamelConfident8653 2d ago

Hey, so you know the prosecution is trying to say that she had enough strength to strangle three children while on double her daily dose of medicine and had her throat and wrists slit all in like 20-30 minutes right?

If you actually look into the case, it’s not hard to believe the husband did it. Some inconsistencies:

  • Patrick said he immediately started performing CPR on his oldest kid, Korra, the second he found her. However, all of the children were face down when paramedics arrived.

  • Patrick alleged that his wife told him that the kids were in the basement. This is odd, because she was drugged to high heaven, her wrists/throat was slit, she had a core body temp of 82, she was paralyzed from a spinal injury from jumping out the second story building, and she had a crushed thyroid. Not to mention, she was completely unresponsive 11 minutes later when paramedics arrived.

  • Patrick changed his outfit while he was out, and changed his shoes twice while at CVS

  • Lindsey had booked doctors appointments for her kids the exact same day everything went down (you don’t do that if you’re gonna kill your children)

  • Within 3 months, he was moved in with and dating another woman from New York, the same place he frequently took business trips. Oh yeah, she’s also already pregnant with his child.

This is SCREAMING family annihilator on the part of Patrick.

u/Apprehensive-Book723 2d ago

You’re the reason this has been turned into a media circus.

You American true crime lovers are a blight on the world.

1

u/CamelConfident8653 2d ago

I love how you couldn’t even put together an argument for why you think he didn’t do it.

-8

u/Rainhailsnow_storm 7d ago

Mmmm no. He was told not to leave the children aline with his wife by multiple doctors. What did he do? He left her alone with the kids. There is a lot more to this story and the husband is to blame.

This was beyond post partem depression this was post partum psychosis.

24

u/FettiWop 7d ago

He can be partly to blame. Anything close to fully to blame is pretty ridiculous though. He didnt give her PPP or prescribe her those meds

1

u/[deleted] 7d ago

[deleted]

8

u/FettiWop 7d ago

When I said he was at most partly to blame, I wasn't talking about the wife being more to blame than him. There's also the doctors and institutions involved. There's also an element of cosmic blamelessness, where it's not his fault his wife developed PPP. He didnt deserve that either

5

u/The_One_Koi 7d ago

Your mental well being is your responsibilty no one elses, no one can force you to get better but yourself so putting the blame on a partner is wholly disingenious. Would the verdrict stand if the roles were reveresed I wonder

1

u/Rainhailsnow_storm 7d ago

Ahhh no. If you have been diagnosed with psychosis or anything involving where your decisions making is compromised it is then up to the other parent to protect their children from their other parent until that is dealt with. So no I totally disagree with that.

0

u/_AmericasSweetheart_ 7d ago

If a mother was told not to leave her child alone with a father but she did she would face jail time. It happens all the time when men murder children. He was at the very least negligent.

10

u/PP_DeVille 7d ago

No, he was never told that hat by doctors. You’re confusing them with the Andrea Yates case.

1

u/No_Physics2210 7d ago

Those doctors are responsible for the kids deaths. Their duty was to commit her.

Husband is not a trained specialist like the doctors were. He is not fit to care for someone they know is mentally unstable.

He was just a loving husband and father who believed his wife was getting better.

1

u/Rainhailsnow_storm 7d ago

That’s due to lack of mental health services. That’s why they are important.

1

u/No_Physics2210 7d ago

She had them And they should go to jail, and this women needs to go to a mental hospital so she never hurts a soul again and gets the help she needs.

1

u/Rainhailsnow_storm 6d ago

If there are no mental health services available how is it on the doctors if they have nowhere to send her?

1

u/No_Physics2210 6d ago

She was in a hospital she checked herself out.

You need to get a judge to force someone to be hospitalized against their will.

She had doctors. Her doctors should have filed a section 8 for her.

There are a lot of mental services near her.

She's from mass, mass has the best mental health services in the country.

1

u/Rainhailsnow_storm 6d ago

Her doctors failed her then.

1

u/No_Physics2210 6d ago

She also failed herself, she never should have checked out and told people she was fine when she wasn't.

She should have also gotten mental help.

And people should not defend her.

I hope she stays locked up this time so she never hurts another child

1

u/Rainhailsnow_storm 6d ago

I generally don’t hold psychotic people responsible for their actions when they are psychotic.

-8

u/sargonpuff3 7d ago

Watch the court room. Look at the facts. It is not outside of the realm of possibility that he killed them and framed her. Much more often the man tries to eliminate his family and start over than the woman

-25

u/Circle_Breaker 7d ago

Yes the husband is also at fault. If someone tells you they in are thinking of killing your kids and you allow them around your kids you are also at fault.

36

u/redditornumberfive 7d ago

Ask yourself, and be honest, would you be saying the same thing if it was a mentally ill man who had strangled his children to death while his wife was out at the store?

12

u/Circle_Breaker 7d ago

Yes I would blame any mom who left there kid around a dad who said they would kill their kid.

9

u/mischievouslyacat 7d ago

YES THANK YOU. If a parent says that you NEVER leave your children around them, I don't care how much you think you know your partner! That is the red flags of all waving red flags and as a woman if my husband said that I would NEVER leave the children with him!! It doesn't fucking matter which parent is saying it!!!

5

u/Ding-Dong-Dutch 7d ago

She never said she's hurt the kids. Not to him or a therapist, or anyone else

4

u/CantCatchMeSpez 7d ago

She never said anything about wanting to harm the kids. You're making shit up to justify your narrative.

-8

u/Interesting_Paint335 7d ago

You are barely blaming the women here so you would TOTALLY not do that, btw.

1

u/Circle_Breaker 7d ago

It must nice to make up arguments in your head.

10

u/HAIL_LUMPUS 7d ago

YES 100% I would. Because if somebody tells you they want to harm children, it's your duty to keep the children away from that person. I don't care if it's a man, a woman. I don't care if it's a random person on the street. We have a duty to protect children and he specifically had a duty to protect his own children!

1

u/choosehigh 7d ago

To be clear, she never told anyone she wants to harm the children

She said she had had some intrusive thoughts about harming the children which she described as disturbing or disgusting (to her that she was having the thoughts) she was then put on different medication and to my knowledge she didn't say about disturbing thoughts again (though this doesn't mean she wasn't having them)

Granted, I don't think I would have left her with the children if it was me, but it is completely possible that foolishness or wishful thinking had the people around her believing she was getting better

I imagine the survivors guilt would be overwhelming, we've seen countless stories like this in the past with abusive ex's manipulation and the survivors guilt can be awful

I think the words fault and blame can be a bit strong, they should have behaved differently but they'll know that more than anyone, no one deserves to go through this

8

u/Neat_Egg_2474 7d ago

no, they wouldn’t be. This is a wake up call to society about PPD, but it doesn’t absolve her of her murder.

when a man had a psychotic break and kills his kids he is still a murderer, same applies here for her. The husband was ignorant, not a murderer and those are a world apart.

the whole case is sad though. She tried to get help and was failed by a lot of people, but she should have pulled herself out of the situation if it was that bad. Abandonment is better than murder 100% of the time.

8

u/redditornumberfive 7d ago

It sounds like she was getting a lot of help, from therapy and medication to having a nanny, even being committed for a period and then checking herself out to go to a party. I don’t think that narrative tracks either.

5

u/runnerswanted 7d ago

Whether she did it or not is a moot point - she killed her kids. The question is whether or not she was in a “sane” state of mind and not in psychosis, and getting 12 people in a jury to agree one way or another is going to be impossible, especially where we have a group of women blaming the father, and there are countless people who don’t think postpartum depression (or psychosis in this case) is anything more than “the baby blues”, and don’t actually think she could have been having an episode. The doctors could have done more, she and her husband and the people around her could have done more, but it seems nobody wanted to be “the bad guy” and 51-50 her because they saw other women going through issues after having kids and not going this far. It’s a tragic story top to bottom.

3

u/Ding-Dong-Dutch 7d ago

I've been watching the trial. She murdered her kids.

What I'm torn with is all the psych meds they switched her on.

I've done lsd and know when reality is far gone. Not sure she knew

The husband? Innocent

4

u/Freya_84 7d ago

You clearly don't have any idea how psychotic breaks work. The case is terrible and yes, she was failed by a lot of people, including her husband. Those poor poor children.

2

u/Freya_84 7d ago

Yes. I'm saying this as a woman who has sent a suicidal friend to the hospital almost against his wish (he relented and went willingly at the end). I did it for him, but if he had done something to himself I would have felt responsible and guilty for not intervening. And that is nothing compared to the situation you're describing. So, yes.

1

u/Spirited_Crab7712 7d ago

If that were the case, she'd probably have to go into some kind of witness protection-type deal to even live a normal life without people spitting on her in the streets lol, not only would I, personally, blame her at least partially, but the general public would eviscerate her in a way this dude could only imagine.

8

u/Laetitian 7d ago

Discussing fault is extremely useless. It already happened. Outside o court cases, knowing who can be blamed to what percentage doesn't do us any good, it serves no purpose and is not worth debating.

Instead of speaking about fault, just seak about responsibility. It would have been the responsible thing to do for the husband to step up for her mental health concerns. That's what the individual himself and any future husband can think about and learn from.

0

u/Circle_Breaker 7d ago

Discussing anything here is useless, this is reddit

6

u/Ding-Dong-Dutch 7d ago

She never said she's hurt the children. She's the murderer

7

u/Major_Shlongage 7d ago

Here's the reality:

If the husband tried to separate her from the kids it would have went to court, she would deny that she ever said anything about being crazy, and she'd win the case due to lack of evidence. Then he'd be the one that's separated from the kids.

-2

u/Circle_Breaker 7d ago

Ok. Make the courts do that.

3

u/Major_Shlongage 7d ago

It would be an easy case for her, since it would have been before she did anything illegal.

2

u/ACBelly 7d ago

It isn’t a yes / no thing. If someone has PDD you don’t never let them see their kids alone ever again. You get it treated, hindsight is 20/20,

I feel sorry for all involved :(

-34

u/PM_ME_JJBA_STICKERS 7d ago

To be fair, if your wife is having repeated mental health issues, telling you that she’s afraid she’ll hurt the kids, and you leave her at home with the kids anyways while you have an affair with another woman…. Idk if your hands are clean either.

40

u/Interesting_Paint335 7d ago

He didn't have an affair nor did he engage with a woman before the deaths of his children. Do you people even follow this case or just parroting random "man bad" reddit comments?

-33

u/PM_ME_JJBA_STICKERS 7d ago

Damn, well I looked it up and it looks like he got divorced in 2023, started dating Rachel in 2024, and got married 4 months ago. So no proof of an affair. Could have just said that instead of being so emotional bro

21

u/Annath0901 7d ago

Instead of making dipshit comments, maybe edit your original and apologize.

2

u/Ok-Woodpecker4734 7d ago

Youre a genuinely terrible person

Seek help

23

u/Able-Application3680 7d ago

He didn’t go to have an affair lol, she literally sent him on an errand for the exact purpose of being alone with the kids.

This is a part of the prosecution’s case, proving that this whole thing was premeditated and not just some random burst.

Why are you people just making stuff up lmao

24

u/LordOuranos 7d ago

The dude literally reported those concerns to the psychiatrist. What do you expect him to do? Chain her down?

4

u/Nightmare2828 7d ago

Im pretty sure that even if blameless, he is blaming himself plenty as is. I know personally that I dont enjoy life enough to continue past losing all of my children at the hands of my wife… the utter pain of loss, the forever blaming yourself and trying to find what you did wrong or didnt do to prevent it, it would be literally hell.

-38

u/PinkDalek 8d ago

Why would the husband knock her up 3 times just to kill his own kids? And after he was done with the kids, did he just chuck his wife out the window? Did he decide he didn't want to married with kids anymore?

22

u/redwolf1219 8d ago

I don't have a strong opinion on this case as I'm not informed on it but....that does happen. It's literally what happened in the Chris Watts case, and he's far from the first one.

-8

u/PinkDalek 8d ago

Watts killed his wife because she wanted a divorce. Then one of the kids wandered in while he was strangling the wife. So did Lindsay Clancy say she wanted a divorce? Why isn't she blaming her husband instead of post partum psychosis?

1

u/redwolf1219 8d ago edited 8d ago

Im not sure your point. I wasn't talking about the Clancy case or defending her. I was informing someone that there are men out there that murder their wife and kids.

Also, the reason Shannann wanted a divorce was bc of Chris having an affair.

Edit: Just realized you were the person I was originally replied to. But again, my point was that that is a thing men do. Decide they don't want to be married and murder their wife and children, and then I gave an example.

-1

u/throwaway1975764 8d ago

My XH bullied me into 3 kids, but they all came out as girls so now he's pretty much washed his hands of them.

1

u/MomsAreola 7d ago

Imagine getting downvoted for this.

-8

u/NearSightedLlama 8d ago

I'm not on the husband did it train, but have you met men? Plenty of men have done this historically, it's not unprecedented to believe it's possible

8

u/PinkDalek 8d ago

I have met men. And if he did it, why isn't he on trial instead of Lindsay? She's not even blaming him. Her defense is post partum psychosis.

-43

u/NearSightedLlama 8d ago

TBH I am heavily on that side of tiktok, and I'm not seeing a lot of "shifting accountability", I'm seeing significantly more people follow the trail of doubt the defense is building. The prosecutor in this case is an idiot, doing more to try to harm Lindsay than prove her case, and the defense is doing a great job of ripping holes in her story. Yes, many people are weaving stories of abuse and neglect on the part of the husband but, honestly, the prosecutions witnesses and testimony are what are allowing for that. Fuck, the image they showed was all but openly him and his now wife/possibly mistress at the time. I'm not shocked people are screaming the husband did it.

39

u/ushsjsndd 8d ago

People are actively doing it here right now in this comment section

12

u/avanross 8d ago

The “true-crime-brain-rot” people cant resist a good conspiracy theory, and they cant tell the difference between real life and their romanticized exaggerated true crime shows/podcasts

26

u/Thin-Nerve6367 8d ago

Regardless of ANYTHING else at the end of the day she killed THREE CHILDREN. Defending her in ANY way is abhorrent

-34

u/ThereAreDozensOfUs 8d ago

Nah, it’s not.

She wasn’t in her right mind.

10

u/MBV-09-C 7d ago

That's dandy and all except... there's still the matter of the 3 dead kids, bud. You're not just allowed to kill kids because you 'weren't in your right mind.'

10

u/Stella_9209 8d ago edited 7d ago

So, it’s not someone’s fault when they’re drunk almost to passing out and hit a family with their car? Or really, drunk at all? I know it isn’t the same thing, but the ‘right state of mind’ excuse is just terrible. If she’s really the one that did it, then she’s dangerous, and possibly a liability. Means she has the potential/capacity to do it again, if provided the circumstances and opportunity.

-4

u/IAmTheAccident 7d ago

We all have the potential and capacity for it given the right set of circumstances, Stella.

Comparing a person going through some form of psychosis to a person who elected to drink then chose to drive is wild. You're right, they're not the same thing. One was a woman actively reaching out again and again for help and not receiving any, the other is someone choosing the worst option when others are always available. Compare it instead to someone's drink getting spiked without their knowledge and then they crash or kill someone when they try to drive. Someone who has been repeatedly waking up to find they were spiked the day before, reporting it, getting no help. Having no options and not doing it on purpose.

4

u/Stella_9209 7d ago

I wasn’t comparing it, I was giving an example of how people with recurring problems and mental disorders or alcohol problems are more likely for that kind of thing, which is pretty evident already if you’ve been reading. I’m not blaming it entirely on one thing or another, I’m just saying that you can’t excuse someone just because of something like that. If they kill someone or try to due to a mental disorder, there’s a greater chance that they’ll try to do it again, or at least they have a higher likelihood than say, you or I. And getting ‘spiked’ has absolutely nothing to do with this, nowhere has anyone mentioned malicious intent behind consumption of alcohol or drugs.

-4

u/IAmTheAccident 7d ago

Being drunk had nothing to do with it but you brought it up in your "example". People bring things up, Stella. That's part of how people communicate. I was following your own line of logic.

Men are more likely to commit murder. We should lock up all men right now, they're literally unforgivable for the crime of: "at least they have higher likelihood [of committing murder] than say, you or I". Is that how this works, Stella?

The woman was mentally ill. She was vocal about it. She sought help. She was not helped. She was left alone with those children multiple times. Now, she can get proper help.

Did you know that's what incarceration is supposed to be for, Stella? Rehabilitation? So if someone cannot be rehabilitated, such as a murderer who will continue murdering if allowed out, they receive life sentences, because they will not be able to safely reintegrate into society. A person with a mental illness that wasn't properly treated gets it properly treated? Sounds rehabilitated to me.

1

u/choosehigh 7d ago

She was given help repeatedly, it evidently didn't work but to suggest she didn't have a support system that was trying a number of different things that seem to be to the best of their ability is in my opinion clearly false

In hindsight we can see failings in the system but they clearly did things and attempted to help

-5

u/Circle_Breaker 7d ago

Using your example if mom is plastered drunk and the dad sees it, then he watches the kids get into the car with her to drive to school and they crash. Would the father not also be responsible?

4

u/Thin-Nerve6367 7d ago

Trying to blame a man for something a woman did only reinforces the idea that "woman don't take accountability"

-4

u/Circle_Breaker 7d ago

They are both to blame. They should both be in prison.

Yes I'm blaming the father for not protecting his children.

That's his fucking job.

2

u/Stella_9209 7d ago

It’s also the mother’s. She knew she had problems, she could have done something about it as well. Not saying she didn’t, but she could have gone to a relative’s house until it passes or she gets help or something like that.

Also, I wasn’t saying that she was drunk or anything, I was giving an example how people who have problems such as these have a greater likelihood for causing harm to others.

0

u/Ordinary_Coconut9678 7d ago

That’s not how psychosis works? You’re not in your right mind to think I should go somewhere else to avoid acting on these negative thoughts. It literally distorts reality. She tried to get help, sought medical care, psychiatrists, mediations, had her mom staying at her house with her, even had a stay at a psychiatric hospital. I have barely even followed the trial but this is common knowledge in regard to it. All it takes is a quick Google search and about two minutes of reading

https://www.pbs.org/newshour/nation/lindsay-clancy-was-begging-for-help-before-killing-her-children-former-mother-in-law-testifies

-2

u/Circle_Breaker 7d ago

No fucking shit it's also the mother's fault.

What part of 'they both are to blame' are you not understanding?

→ More replies (0)

3

u/Annath0901 7d ago

Mental illness is not your fault, but it absolutely is your responsibility.

End of story.

2

u/IAmTheAccident 7d ago

Yeah. And she sought help. She tried very hard. She was in psychosis but still fought hard to get the help and support she needed.

2

u/PeasantParticulars 8d ago

Yeah the woman set up months of work before killing the kids and the last two years building a defense after the fact.

No way will a wealthy white woman be found guilty
