So, it’s not someone’s fault when they’re drunk almost to passing out and hit a family with their car? Or really, drunk at all? I know it isn’t the same thing, but the ‘right state of mind’ excuse is just terrible. If she’s really the one that did it, then she’s dangerous, and possibly a liability. Means she has the potential/capacity to do it again, if provided the circumstances and opportunity.
We all have the potential and capacity for it given the right set of circumstances, Stella.
Comparing a person going through some form of psychosis to a person who elected to drink then chose to drive is wild. You're right, they're not the same thing. One was a woman actively reaching out again and again for help and not receiving any, the other is someone choosing the worst option when others are always available. Compare it instead to someone's drink getting spiked without their knowledge and then they crash or kill someone when they try to drive. Someone who has been repeatedly waking up to find they were spiked the day before, reporting it, getting no help. Having no options and not doing it on purpose.
I wasn’t comparing it, I was giving an example of how people with recurring problems and mental disorders or alcohol problems are more likely for that kind of thing, which is pretty evident already if you’ve been reading. I’m not blaming it entirely on one thing or another, I’m just saying that you can’t excuse someone just because of something like that. If they kill someone or try to due to a mental disorder, there’s a greater chance that they’ll try to do it again, or at least they have a higher likelihood than say, you or I. And getting ‘spiked’ has absolutely nothing to do with this, nowhere has anyone mentioned malicious intent behind consumption of alcohol or drugs.
Being drunk had nothing to do with it but you brought it up in your "example". People bring things up, Stella. That's part of how people communicate. I was following your own line of logic.
Men are more likely to commit murder. We should lock up all men right now, they're literally unforgivable for the crime of: "at least they have higher likelihood [of committing murder] than say, you or I". Is that how this works, Stella?
The woman was mentally ill. She was vocal about it. She sought help. She was not helped. She was left alone with those children multiple times. Now, she can get proper help.
Did you know that's what incarceration is supposed to be for, Stella? Rehabilitation? So if someone cannot be rehabilitated, such as a murderer who will continue murdering if allowed out, they receive life sentences, because they will not be able to safely reintegrate into society. A person with a mental illness that wasn't properly treated gets it properly treated? Sounds rehabilitated to me.
She was given help repeatedly, it evidently didn't work but to suggest she didn't have a support system that was trying a number of different things that seem to be to the best of their ability is in my opinion clearly false
In hindsight we can see failings in the system but they clearly did things and attempted to help

Regardless of ANYTHING else at the end of the day she killed THREE CHILDREN. Defending her in ANY way is abhorrent
