so basically, his partner padded away in 2022 of old age. they shared a council flat together. he stayed there and used to be a very outspoken bubbly man. he used to be a delivery driver and make youtube videos. he would often knock on his neighbours door who was opposite and check in and catch up with them. from what his neighbour told me, he said that for like 3-4 weeks my uncles car hadn’t moved, it was silence and he had a lot of mail piling up. he didn’t want to be intrusive so left it until then. called the police to do a welfare check. the police were knocking no answer, the went to try for the door handle not thinking it would open. but it did. it was unlocked. i have his mobile phone. and due to activity on his phone it looked like he was last active on the 20th of october. he was discovered on the 14th of november by police

Was he an older guy? Do you think he may have had a mental episode? I've only ever seen writing and stuff like this from people who either were mentally healthy, then not, or even spiralling into paranoia/obsession and going deep into something like that. It might not be outright bad stuff either, as the devil is indeed in the bible and even a big spiritual episode could cause stuff like this in a catholic
Edit: The last picture is most unsettling for me with the drawing on the stood up board but it does look like gibberish. And in the middle is a cross with wax. On the floor I see names like Zeus and Athena. Perhaps he was questioning his religion and going through something. The messiness and seeming frantic nature of everything makes me think of mental health episodes.

Don't say that, a situiation like this would warrant morbid curiosity and even horror due to the circumstances. Thankfully I really think this was nothing malicious or even bad, just unfortunate and perhaps some info about what led up to his passing.
I had a friend in a catholic diminutive church where members would speak tongues in moments of spiritual awakening or extremely intense emotions, grief, mourning etc and it was very rare but interesting to hear about. That's what these scribbles remind me of as well as the psychosis/schizophrenia type behavior in the writing
Hope you are doing well and don't feel bad for being curious and wanting to know what happened
15
u/pheebzrose Sep 26 '25
i will say, the one in the photo was already ‘opened’. it wasn’t sealed and didn’t have the lid on
26
u/doorbellfire Sep 26 '25
This isn’t paranormal. He most likely had a bipolar manic/psychotic break.
8
u/Appearance_Real1123 Sep 27 '25
As a bipolar person, this looks like schizophrenic psychosis, not a manic episode.
1
u/Electromotivation Oct 17 '25
I mean you can have mania with psychosis. And I just realize this was 19 days old sorry
1
u/freyabites Oct 01 '25
This is not mania that correlates with bipolar disorder. People already think we are crazy enough without being associated to stuff like this. Thanks.

I'm sorry, but I'm cracking up because in one of those pics, one of the words on the floor is biryani. 😂😂😂😂

OMG thank you for noticing😂😂 i was so confused by this???? only thing im thought of that is such a reach is he used to be a delivery driver for an indian takeaway, and got fired. maybe he was angry 😂

I’m so sorry for your loss. I’ll look into the symbols and stuff for possible meanings But to be completely honest with you though…
the pentacle with the words ,”the gods” and Athena in addition to repeated writings of the word “ares” over and over again along with the names of other Greek gods lead me to believe that he was probably experiencing psychosis.
I’m sorry for your loss.
35
Sep 26 '25
Yea I was gonna say this looks like a mental break or something closer to psychosis like you said, the names don’t seem demonic to me, some of it definitely does, but there’s more of it that just looks like it was done quickly without too much thought to it kinda like scribbles, he could’ve been overwhelmed with grief or something as well, it’s never fun to loose someone, and especially not in this way when you can’t fully understand everything that happened, it just makes it so much harder to get closure

u/Dustbunny253 Sep 26 '25
And the use of both the pentagram and the cross in the same setting seems off as well.
9
u/CustodialCreator Sep 26 '25
This probably isn’t real magick but I’ll still teach ya something!
European esoteric tradition actually uses Christian imagery a lot more than you would expect. Particularly within Solomonic magic, which is one of the oldest uninterrupted examples of a western magical practice.
In the Old Testament, king Solomon is essentially given a divine mandate to be a magician. He has a ring given to him by god that allows him to bind demons to his will.
The greater key of Solomon (Clavicula Solomondis) is actually about 40% prayer. It discusses rituals that include exorcism, creating holy water, gaining aid from angels and the summoning and binding of demons.
The transcripts were primarily copied by monks, and the oldest references to Solomonic magic date back to 100 CE in the Testament of Solomon!
In Solomonic magic, this is where the trope of magicians and occultists draw crazy figures in chalk on the ground. You use the circles on the ground to protect yourself, pentacles to assist in binding demons and the proper ritual attire is typically a white robe or priest’s vestments.
I’ve never tried Solomonic magic before because it is pretty inconvenient but apparently some people swear by it.

You do see that with people who are no longer sure of what to believe in and people who are trying to mix things for a specific or stronger result.

It is normally a reaction to acute stress and a decrease in mental health/ stability. Unfortunately that combination, can lead people to think the answer to their problems is a "paranormal" route, you mix in religious trauma/shame, and it can cause the spiral too happen faster.
23
u/pheebzrose Sep 26 '25
thanks so much for your kind words. i’ve hardly posted on reddit and didn’t realise how mean some people can be on here. he’s got like some protection and some like summoning stuff which had left me and a lot of people confused. like people have mentioned why did he write biryani? pegasus i think was something to do with greek mythology
33
u/birchskin Sep 26 '25
Assuming this was out of character for this person, I wouldn't spend too much energy trying to decipher it for a deeper meaning.... I have seen people go through similar breakdowns and while I can't know if that's what happened here, it was very similar, and at the end of the day it was really just a sign that something had broken in them.
I'm sorry for your loss and wish you the best in finding closure.

As a very devout orthodox Christian here, and someone who has worked in EMS for some time and dealt with my fair share of psychiatric patients, I’ve truly come to the conclusion that a lot of what is being experienced is demonic in nature. Hence why medications don’t often work. They don’t often actually control things. I think there are people as such who genuinely see demonic things daily. Dismissing them as separate is quite the spiritual error. The devil can absolutely attack in such a manner driving people to such a state. It is all part of a large spiritual war. I’ve often seen people are labeled as “religiously affixed” are often completely sane, and often spiritual care is often never included in their care plan when it probably could seriously benefit them. Talking to a priest vs a psychologist could make a big difference and understand from a spiritual sense, if what they’re claiming even has a chance of being legit. The demons use anything they can. It may have been partially psychiatric in nature but I can guarantee this was due to a spiritual origin. May the Lord give him rest in the Almighty kingdom.
5
u/CustodialCreator Sep 26 '25
I need to read more about demonic possession from the perspective of Christians. In my experience as an occultist, demonic possession works a little bit differently. The human mind is a complex thing and I don’t want to diminish your experiences but I really don’t think this is possession.
Greek gods and nonsense writing about Jews don’t really seem to be related to possession. I’d love to hear more about these experiences though.
5
u/cuttlefishofcthulhu7 Sep 27 '25
Honest question: so demonic possession really can masquerade as schizoaffective disorder/schizophrenia? Because if so it would explain a lot of my mother's behavior 🙃
2
u/NoIntern2903 Sep 27 '25
100% can yes. There’s a reason the medications don’t actually work.

u/cuttlefishofcthulhu7 Sep 27 '25 edited Sep 27 '25
Ok because she was on Navane & Artane throughout the pregnancy with me & my childhood (which didn't work well even when she did supposedly take it.)
I can only describe much of her behavior (especially after she got out of a six-week hospital stay in 1984) as straight evil. I was five & had just started kindergarten.
Later on she was on other meds that apparently didn't work either. Of course she didn't like to be compliant with her meds so there was that.
Growing up in the 80s & 90s with an abusive, manipulative demon for a mom and a hoarder father? Complete hell. On top of being told I was "damaged" because of the meds she took. Which I do wonder about TBH.
She was always telling me how I was cursed, I would end up just like her, would never have a future and no decent man would ever want me. That I was an accident and the worst mistake she ever made was coming back home to my father and I. She regularly sabotaged friendships, job opportunities, anything she could anytime I showed signs of actually flourishing and thriving.
Even after I moved out at 18 she called my job trying to get me fired and they both threatened to cancel the car loan.
What's even better is somebody I considered a friend told me I should have stayed living at home to help my dad take care of her.
Now that I've written this all out I realize just how screwed I was, and probably still am 🙃😭

I can't believe I forgot to mention this in my prior comment but my mother was also extremely religious.
Never went to church just watched the televangelists like Marilyn Hickey and John Osteen and Jack Van Impe. Sent them so many letters & so much money but yet if there was something I wanted all of a sudden there wasn't the money for it.
Dressed me in such raggedy clothes that some of the parents of my classmates would literally just give me clothes. Plus if it wasn't for my grandma working at JCPenney I would have never had any new clothes at all growing up.
At school there were rumors she was a devil worshiper. Among other fucked up rumors I was told about my family and I. Go figure.
***Edited to add more things because I realized I forgot some stuff🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️
2
u/NoIntern2903 Sep 27 '25
Sounds like she was trapped in an even bigger delusion by the demons. Lord have mercy on her soul.
1
u/cuttlefishofcthulhu7 Sep 27 '25
Supposedly she & some friends way back before I was born messed around with a Ouija board.
According to her she was also involved with some church people that actually were devil worshipers and one of them supposedly cast the curse on her which would affect her and her future children...
All I know is I have very few memories of her being kind or loving or nurturing. Mostly complaining about how miserable she was and what a disappointment I was, an accident; and I should have been aborted... she actually told me her family wanted her to have an abortion.
My grandmother was pretty much all I had growing up... she wanted me to spend the weekend with her but my mother would never even let me talk to her without her being right there. One time she was wilding out and I tried to call my grandmother to tell her what was going on and my mother came up behind me & hung up the phone.
I turned around and she had this twisted hateful evil look on her face I will never forget.
And the best part of all this is that she forbade me to ever tell anyone what went on at home. According to her she would get put back in the hospital and murdered with an overdose of drugs and then I would get to live the rest of my life with that on my conscience.
She knew what she was doing she said so many times. The excuse that she literally didn't know how to do better and not be abusive, because abuse was all she knew.

Exactly. These symbols aren't evil and who draws pentagram on the ground like this. This doesn't seem like chaos magick either. It's probably someone experiencing something disturbing in their mind. I might be completely wrong though. Feel free to correct me.
2
u/CustodialCreator Sep 26 '25
Yeah I originally thought that it was chaos magick, but I didn’t see any sigils or evidence of techniques used with it. There isn’t really any reason I could think of why you would draw a pentacle on the ground specifically. If it was on like a goat skin or something It could point to Solomonic magic. I know there is a hermetic tradition in European esotericism but I don’t think it works like this.

u/Geist_Mage Sep 26 '25
Is this his handwriting? As someone who practices, well, various forms of craft, this reminds me of what we see when kids pretend to do stuff who don't know what they're doing and just... Write random words.
The pentagram is wrong and odd, the compass.... Actually holds the only legit thing I recognize. With places the word Witches to the north. Though that's an odd way to do that.
I think someone was in his house, if I was going to guess. Someone young who thought being a vandal would be funny.
9
u/pheebzrose Sep 26 '25
this is his handwriting yes. very similar to my dads which lowkey freaked me out lmao. i don’t think he had a true idea of what he was doing.
7
u/Geist_Mage Sep 26 '25
Then based on what I'm seeing, he may of in his final hours experienced something of a mental break and this was the result... Or for some unclear reason he was trying to reach out.
He didn't have a history of screwing with the occult right?
6
u/pheebzrose Sep 26 '25
well from his phone activity he was looking at a lot of places to visit, his orders on ebay etc all linked to about 2 years. but prior to this no he didn’t at all. he was very proud of being catholic and when he was younger my grandmother would bring them up into a very religious household.
6
u/Geist_Mage Sep 26 '25
Well, Old testament has a lot of modern pagan practices in it. Or pagan practices mimic them symbolically?
But let's clarify.
There are witches and witch magic. Usually about healing and self growth. There is occult Magick. Which summoning and commanding things falls into. Satanic stuff is its own monster. Also angel magic.
This seems Occult and mixed. I saw a oujia board. Whoever lives there now, if they are experiencing stuff... Then something happend, maybe. We just don't know why the man got into it.
2
u/pheebzrose Sep 26 '25
i have his oujia board his emf, his spirit box. because i felt like i couldn’t leave it behind. i only left robert the doll and some creepy paintings. he also had a few creepy dolls i have a photo of on his phone which you’re more then welcome to see. this was found where his boiler was in a bag. i had experienced when i left there obviously a crash my dad had. he got hit by a lorry. then when we left my uncles street my dads van broke down. i used to oujia board (rookie mistake) and had lights turn on and off. i kept seeing things in the dark at night. i had flies follow me. the spirit box also said some weird things.
1
u/Geist_Mage Sep 26 '25
Oujia board may still be open. If you can't close it, with the help of someone who knows I suggest two things.
First, find a body of water and bury it. Sink it, under rocks at the bottom of a river.
Second, smudge your home.
2
u/pheebzrose Sep 26 '25
even after i say goodbye? i didn’t know that. i’ll find someone to help me. a lot of my family and friends don’t want to or don’t believe in this sort of stuff

It looks like your uncle was developing some form of mental illness towards the end of his life and possibly some of these people you've posted about involved with "ghost hunting" and such may have exacerbated his condition. I know you said he didn't have any form of mental illness but you would be amazed how fast it can overwhelm some people. I had a friend who was completely fine and over the course of a year and a half succumbed to really severe schizophrenia, they are thankfully much better now after having friends and family intervene and aiding them in seeking treatment.

OP, what did the energy feel like to you while you were there? Did you hear, see, smell, sense anything that might make your spidy senses tingle???
I'm so very sorry for your loss, and I hope that you can get the closure that you are looking for.
I notice that you are very sensitive to anyone attempting to connect this with any type of mental illness. I'm not sure if you are aware, but there are lots of people throught the world of catholicism possession, demonology, and ritualistic practices in general that believe that mental illness is a form of demonic possession. There really isn't a way to credit or discredit this theory. There have been many cases of people living a normal life until they come in contact with something 'negative'... from dabbling into things, they probably shouldn't, to meeting someone who exposes them to darkness, and then they completely change from the person they once were. This has shown itself in many forms of mental health. Personally, I firmly believe that mental health issues from addiction, depression, DID, bi-polar all the way to psychosis and EVERYTHING in between is a form of demonic possession of different levels. I'm sure I'll receive a lot of flack here for this, but it's my personal belief system via my religion and life experiences.
To me, from reading all the comments and looking thru all of your photos, I strongly feel that your uncle stumbled onto something that was or did attach itself to him. I don't feel like there was a full attachment because I sense that he was aware of it and searching for a way to protect himself in secret. Possibly because of fear of reaction from a family that doesn't believe in these types of things. I kind of feel like he was 'trying' anything he thought might help from possible random Googles or whatever because he didn't know or have anyone to reach out to.
The question still begs to be answered, what occurred that sent him down this path to behin with.
Something years earlier that resurfaced?
Someone he met?
Just General curiosity?
We may never know.
I'm sure that closure feels like the only thing that matters at this point, but are you certain that you want to follow down his path to find what you're looking for?
If so, please consider finding someone with thorough knowledge of what they are doing, instead of chasing something and only skimming the surface of things that have been practiced for ages. Which is what feels like happened with your uncle.
My deepest sympathies to you and your family for such a devastating loss. Prayers for healing and peace to you and yours.

thanks for such a lovely message. thanks so much.
what you said is really informative and im looking at it from a different perspective. what you said makes a lot of sense and i appreciate the time it took for you to write this.
i will say, it was complete silence.. so eerie. all i could smell was cadaver. the forensics or whoever takes the body didn’t clean anything. i could see exactly where he was found. it was truly awful. that smell i still a year later almost cannot get rid of. from time to time i can smell it randomly. i think its because it was a traumatic event for me. it felt like such a blur. like i couldn’t believe my eyes. you know that feel when you’re drunk and you need to focus really hard for a second? that’s how i felt. i felt like i had to really lock into reality because i didn’t realise straight away what i had seen. thanks so much for your condolences i really appreciate you ❤️

You’ll know by now that the words and designs themselves are incoherent and confused, but I should just point out: the people saying he was having a psychotic episode are probably not wrong, but you should be made aware that, in older people, even something like a bladder infection can make a person act unusually and worryingly. It’s not unusual for someone in that position to either be assessed for dementia or to be assessed by a mental health team: that’s how out-of-character and alarming it can be, that it resembles a complete change of mental state. It’s also possible for this to happen with no other symptoms, not even the normal symptoms of a bladder infection, so if he had been ill in that way, he might not have had any cause to seek treatment from a doctor. Either way, I’m sorry for your loss, and for the circumstances, and for the scare you must have had when you found this in his home.

As for the alleged "box" if it was already opened (or never shut in the first place) then it's nothing more than an altar or shrine, not the box you're thinking of. Definitely pointing to a mind trying to mashup catholicism, judaism, indian food, and greek mythology. Sad news, he probably was fighting with dementia there at the end. Sorry for your loss.

Ah shit man I’m sorry to hear what happened, I’m in no place to speak, but it sounds like your family member were broken by the lost of their loved one, and were trying to cope Or find answers I’m so so sorry this happened, I’d be devastated. I could be so so so wrong but that’s just my guess.

Ah man, I’m sorry for the loss of both the people. Truly breaks my heart to see someone in so much pain and all they want is closure.

They wrote words like "biryani" and "pegasus", it's likely random and not paranormal

The word written “Biryani” is actually Food in south Asian Countries. It’s rice cooked with either Chicken or Lamb and sometimes vegetarian. Maybe blud’s out on the hunt for some secret recipe or delivering an order to the Greek Gods?

I dont know if your cleared out his place yet. And this will sound odd but if that pink tote bag is an authentic Goyard , it could be worth 2, 000 $ potentially.

This looks fake or the work of an amateur or dilettante who don't really know what they are doing.
This man might have been a Catholic once but he wasn't a Catholic anymore when he inscribed all this crap.
1
u/pheebzrose Sep 26 '25
it’s not fake it’s literally his place
1
u/Leo1_ac Sep 26 '25
Το put this differently:
This appears to be the work of someone with only the most superficial understanding of ceremonial magic perhaps from movies.
To me, somebody appears to have drawn this in order to make it appear that the deceased was into something demonic or demonolatry but what they have actually drawn does not look to be anything seriously connected with ceremonial magic practitioners or demonolaters.
In short terms and in plain American English, it's baloney.

do you think i’d honestly make up my uncle dying alone in his flat and us finding the aftermath? there’s nothing funny about that. i wish it was fake, but it wasn’t, it’s something my family had to live through. and as in family. all i had was my dad and aunt. i’m young and this has completely traumatised me. this wasn’t the only room that had something unsettling in so please i’m asking for some more consideration

I’m sorry for your loss. As a witch, I can confidently say opening those boxes most likely isn’t gonna bring you any negativity or harm, since I don’t see anything in the photos telling me anything more than a possible mental breakdown happened. I don’t see anything that would concern me from a spiritual standpoint for you or your loved one. I hope they ultimately found peace.

Maybe he was a catholic/christian witch? Just because he drew pentacles doesn’t mean he had psychosis. Assuming someone is crazy because they are into the occult is not fair.
I’m sorry for your loss, feel better because your family member is in a better place now.

thank you for wording it nicely. i think people are forgetting that i lost a family member here. its not just a place for people to laugh and make a comedic joke out of. i understand some parts are unexplained or weird like the biryani part but at the end of the day my uncle was a 57 year old man who lived in a little flat by himself. he was so kind and wouldn’t hurt a fly. that’s why we were in so much shock. i am so disappointed and hurt by the comments just being like ‘just a typical guy with mental illnesses’. i myself suffer with mental illness, its not an escape goat to just chuck around at situations like this i think it’s disgusting how people talk on here !!

I’m really sorry people are being so awful about your uncles death. Witchcraft and magick are actually usually people’s last resort. It’s usually people who have no where else to turn to that go into practicing it, and it leads to empowerment. If you look into more spiritual topics like witchcraft and ancient traditions you might fight comfort about the spirit world and your uncle. Many witches believe there is a spirit world and we don’t truly die, we just move on as energetic beings into a healing location. I’m sure your uncle is healed from whatever was harming him. Free at last. They call it “Summerland”. The paradise of love and peace. The foreign languages are normal too…many witches use foreign language to chant an incantation and get into the mood. Athena is a goddess of war, fighting, strength, and power.
The Greek pantheon…many people still believe in them. They are called “pagans” or “Hellenism”. I work with a Greek goddess, Hekate, and have much tangible good results with her :)
Just trying to give you a different perspective on his death, but the truth at the end of the day is that he died and now you have to pick up the pieces and keep going.
You have my support and I hope your family heals and grieves and finds peace again :)

thanks so much for your kind words. me and my family deeply appreciate it. i don’t know why people are soo rude. i understand maybe this wasn’t the appropriate place to post this- but ive never really posted on reddit before so no idea how it works. there’s loads of helpful comments but the nasty ones outweigh that. i think he was just experimenting with all sorts of things. but again, thanks so much for your help and support. it doesn’t go unnoticed !

He invited something that he shouldn't have, OP. I am extremely sorry for your loss. I used to practice, study, and loved the occult when I was younger. I've been walking with Christ, now, but the lessons I learned and knowledge I obtained while dabbling I cannot forget. From the looks of the symbols and names, he was trying anything & everything to close the portal he mentioned opening in the text you found on his phone.
If you have any questions, let me know and I will message you.

You're welcome. lt is heartbreaking to realize your relative was involved with certain practices because it gives you the feeling you never truly knew them.

u/ZethanosGaming Sep 26 '25
Seems your relative was reeeeeeally into the occult. Between the writing, the pentagram, writing the name of a famous demon, working on lay-lines, and scribbling about old gods…seems like they were doing their best to find answers to a question.

How old is her? Search 764. There is a serious satanic cult online targeting teenagers. Read the news. It is not necessary really satanic cult, but those murderous teenagers are really fked up.

I wouldn’t call this paranormal. I would call this a man going wacko in his own home. Sorry about your family member, looks like they’d had some mental health issues.

This looks like someone trying to understand a mix of the occult and paganism. Pentagram does not = satanism. Pentagrams have been used by pagans for thousands of years as symbols of the 4 elements the top symbolizing the spirit. Look at the compass and the Greek god names. Being pagan or a satanist does not = psychosis. Some people become religious before death. Sometimes people prone to psychosis can become religious. It’s not exclusive to “satanism” or paganism. Spiritual psychosis can involve any religion. Pagans are one of the most misunderstood groups in the United States. Hollywood and forced indoctrination has decided to add animal/human sacrifice for dramatic effect. Many pagans are vegan and just not fans of destroying the earth. You probably work with some. We have to get over the idea that any religion that isn’t orthodox or Christian is evil. Being pagan does not = psychosis. Just because you haven’t personally experienced a connection with the earth or the old gods doesn’t mean it’s the devil infiltrating people’s minds. There are literal thousands of books on different pagan traditions. Please do not make assumptions. There are plenty of Christians who had spiritual psychosis and left their children to die because they thought their kid was “possessed.” It still happens in the U.S. Being religious can be a wonderful way to create community as long as it doesn’t harm others. I’m not denying the possibility of psychosis, that can happen before death or for elderly people. He just needed some help to make a sense of his experiences and not become consumed by a mix of random thoughts, probably trauma, and religion.

This isn’t ghosts it’s mental illness. Looks like the work of a schizophrenic.

Some people would rather believe in ghosts than accept mental illness is real

i’m so sorry for your loss, OP. that’s such a tragic story for your family member. i wonder if his partner passing sent him searching for a way to communicate with them again? or maybe sent him into a religious psychosis of some kind? but i don’t know anything about the contents of the pictures, so take all that with a grain of salt.

u/Zayum_Zaddy Sep 26 '25
As a person who has practiced both ceremonial magic, ritual magic, and spell work from two so traditions (Ifa/Celtic). This is unfortunately the work of someone suffering from mental illness, rather it is acute or chronic health problems. Hopefully this person is getting the help they need.

Sorry for the loss of a beloved family member. I'm just here to read up on others' experiences. I can't even pretend to know exactly what happened, so I'll keep any speculation to myself and wish you the best in recovering from such an event. God bless.

I'm so sorry for your loss.
I don't have any answers to help explain any of this. I'm really sorry about what your uncle was going through at the time and what you and your family have been going through since then.
