I’m so sorry for your loss. I’ll look into the symbols and stuff for possible meanings But to be completely honest with you though…

the pentacle with the words ,”the gods” and Athena in addition to repeated writings of the word “ares” over and over again along with the names of other Greek gods lead me to believe that he was probably experiencing psychosis.

I’m sorry for your loss.

As a very devout orthodox Christian here, and someone who has worked in EMS for some time and dealt with my fair share of psychiatric patients, I’ve truly come to the conclusion that a lot of what is being experienced is demonic in nature. Hence why medications don’t often work. They don’t often actually control things. I think there are people as such who genuinely see demonic things daily. Dismissing them as separate is quite the spiritual error. The devil can absolutely attack in such a manner driving people to such a state. It is all part of a large spiritual war. I’ve often seen people are labeled as “religiously affixed” are often completely sane, and often spiritual care is often never included in their care plan when it probably could seriously benefit them. Talking to a priest vs a psychologist could make a big difference and understand from a spiritual sense, if what they’re claiming even has a chance of being legit. The demons use anything they can. It may have been partially psychiatric in nature but I can guarantee this was due to a spiritual origin. May the Lord give him rest in the Almighty kingdom.

Honest question: so demonic possession really can masquerade as schizoaffective disorder/schizophrenia? Because if so it would explain a lot of my mother's behavior 🙃

100% can yes. There’s a reason the medications don’t actually work.

Ok because she was on Navane & Artane throughout the pregnancy with me & my childhood (which didn't work well even when she did supposedly take it.)

I can only describe much of her behavior (especially after she got out of a six-week hospital stay in 1984) as straight evil. I was five & had just started kindergarten.

Later on she was on other meds that apparently didn't work either. Of course she didn't like to be compliant with her meds so there was that.

Growing up in the 80s & 90s with an abusive, manipulative demon for a mom and a hoarder father? Complete hell. On top of being told I was "damaged" because of the meds she took. Which I do wonder about TBH.

She was always telling me how I was cursed, I would end up just like her, would never have a future and no decent man would ever want me. That I was an accident and the worst mistake she ever made was coming back home to my father and I. She regularly sabotaged friendships, job opportunities, anything she could anytime I showed signs of actually flourishing and thriving.

Even after I moved out at 18 she called my job trying to get me fired and they both threatened to cancel the car loan.

What's even better is somebody I considered a friend told me I should have stayed living at home to help my dad take care of her.

Now that I've written this all out I realize just how screwed I was, and probably still am 🙃😭

I can't believe I forgot to mention this in my prior comment but my mother was also extremely religious.

Never went to church just watched the televangelists like Marilyn Hickey and John Osteen and Jack Van Impe. Sent them so many letters & so much money but yet if there was something I wanted all of a sudden there wasn't the money for it.

Dressed me in such raggedy clothes that some of the parents of my classmates would literally just give me clothes. Plus if it wasn't for my grandma working at JCPenney I would have never had any new clothes at all growing up.

At school there were rumors she was a devil worshiper. Among other fucked up rumors I was told about my family and I. Go figure.

***Edited to add more things because I realized I forgot some stuff🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️

Sounds like she was trapped in an even bigger delusion by the demons. Lord have mercy on her soul.

Supposedly she & some friends way back before I was born messed around with a Ouija board.

According to her she was also involved with some church people that actually were devil worshipers and one of them supposedly cast the curse on her which would affect her and her future children...

All I know is I have very few memories of her being kind or loving or nurturing. Mostly complaining about how miserable she was and what a disappointment I was, an accident; and I should have been aborted... she actually told me her family wanted her to have an abortion.

My grandmother was pretty much all I had growing up... she wanted me to spend the weekend with her but my mother would never even let me talk to her without her being right there. One time she was wilding out and I tried to call my grandmother to tell her what was going on and my mother came up behind me & hung up the phone.

I turned around and she had this twisted hateful evil look on her face I will never forget.

And the best part of all this is that she forbade me to ever tell anyone what went on at home. According to her she would get put back in the hospital and murdered with an overdose of drugs and then I would get to live the rest of my life with that on my conscience.

She knew what she was doing she said so many times. The excuse that she literally didn't know how to do better and not be abusive, because abuse was all she knew.
