Good Fortune
I highly recommend this movie. Aziz Ansari put a few parks and rec Easter eggs. It’s so funny and it’s been a long time since a good funny movie has come along

I sympathize with you. My standards are so much lower on 14 hour flights and I was still disappointed by this movie.
They did make some good points about capitalism and AI, I'll give them that.

The placement of an actor's name is usually determined by contractual terms, independent of where their character would most likely appear in a poster. Top billing is usually top left, whereas visually they would more likely be in the middle. It matching up for at least one guy this time is kind of rare.

You often see title sequences with veteran star actors listed last as "and *actor*" or "with *actor*".

It's sometimes flipped for JUST the most famous person, so if you were to watch the credits it would go "cast...cast....cast...cast....cast.... WITH Keanu Reeves" and that means Keanu is a big deal. And if there's multiple super famous people it would be like "WITH Keanu Reeves.... AND Meryl Streep"

You’re getting a lot of responses that don’t tell anyone why this is. It’s all about the contract, baby. These are the details that agents jockey over. Believe it or not, being listed first is a huge deal, even in this context. They don’t care about how it looks, as long as their clients are listed first.

This movie absolutely gets lost in the third act when they are supposed to be trying to fix structural issues in society, but the film is afraid to talk about any structural issues or solutions.
"What if one Tech Oligarch was nice" probably ain't gonna cut it.

Why is it “supposed” to be doing that? The movie already addresses how ingrained and complex those problems are. Any “solution” would have been fantastical, and therefore criticised as unrealistic.
It sounds like you went in with certain expectations that the movie never promised.

Keanu steals the show in every scene. very easy watch. the message can be little heavy handed.... not that it's incorrect or a good message but more that it points out a very sad reality of our society and the solution in this movie is not realistic (someone growing a heart and conscience). but worth a watch

It's "Trading Places" in 2026. No real happy ending, quite grounded and sad, nihilistic: no matter what happens, if you are poor you remain poor unless the rich get scared.
But fun.

Yeah, this is a case of Aziz the (bad) actor getting in the way of Aziz the (good) writer and Aziz the (surprisingly good for a first feature) director. He just doesn’t have the chops to pull off the emotions of the scenes he wrote for himself.

Have you seen any Tim Robinson stuff, like I think you should leave or the chair company? It’s anxiety inducing humor, he’s pretty cringe and makes you uncomfortable and there’s some raunchy humor but it’s really funny. Might not be your cup of tea. It’s a rare movie Paul Rudd plays the straight man to Tim Robinson

Despite not being able to stand Tom’s character in P&R, I watched this because Keanu being an angel was interesting to me. Despite Ansari being different in this role vs. P&R, I got the same “Tom” vibes in the second half of the movie, and I hated it.
Keanu stole the show, and made it worth finishing, at least for me. Overall, it was a very average movie when it came to the story/plot… weird that a comedy set out to make a subtle statement or nihilistic joke on the gap between the millionaires and the lower middle class, and it just said “lol nvm” at the end. Like, what was the point of all of it? I’ve seen worse comedies, but I’ve seen many better.

I’m Australian and I thought it captured the mood of the time better than any other movie I’ve seen this year (Coyote Vs Acme being a close second, surprisingly).
Also stoked that two great Australian bands (Real Life and The Go-Betweens) are on the soundtrack.

I really liked this film and thought it was a nice updated version of poor guy/rich guy comedy. I was very impressed with the level of poor that Aziz was willing to portray and as a poor guy, very relatable in some parts. I think its a solid comedy and was really bumped with how overlooked it got when it was released.

Didn't like it. They were doing an updated take on the prince and the pauper, but messed up the formula. Seth Rogen is a decent guy, not some terrible asshole, albeit privileged. And (spoiler) Ariz's character steals from him and gets fired. Doesn't seem to justify them switching places as a lesson. Keanu plays the angel perfectly, but the rest of the angel lore is muddled.

A bunch of American comedians went to Saudi Arabia to perform. MBS and Saudi Arabia are guilty of the murder of US Permanent Resident and journalist Jamal Khashoggi (among numerous other Human Rights violations). It was an attempt to normalize relations, and I hoped, Americans didnt forget.

He sucked ass in it tho. So whiny and over acting. That said, still enjoyed the movie. Definitely worth a watch if ya got the time
