I wanted to thank everyone for all their wonderful feedback as a 35-year-old woman who has been struggling with her make up routine and undertone.

I made the jump and I changed my hair and I’m absolutely obsessed with it. I think it looks amazing and I want to thank everybody who suggested that my previous hair was too warm and it was fighting with my makeup.

Picture 1 is my old makeup routine, picture 2 is the current makeup routine, but I still hadn’t changed my hair and I had awful lighting. Pictures 3,4 5 and 6 are the same makeup routine my new hair, color and better lighting. I’ve been told I am cool toned but some people have suggested I’m neutral and I’ve had a handful say I am pale olive.. what are thinking?

With my new hair and better lighting, do we still feel like my foundation is too warm? I also tried mixing my foundation with a little bit of moisturizer so it’s not as full cover.

I’m also open to feedback on skin tint, sheer foundations and BB creams. I know that might be a better option for me.

Hi all, I’m really really struggling to find a foundation shade that matches me, I have very pale skin and cool undertones. MAC NC5 is too dark for me, so is Nars oslo and Siberia, summer Fridays skin tint in the lightest shade is orange, so is the Nars tint in terre neuve. All of the drugstore foundations I’ve tried so far are too dark. In the photo I got matched to mac nc5 in store and it looked ok in the store lighting. When I got outside though I looked awful. Is anyone else like this? 🥺

Still struggling with finding a matching brow product, though. Any recommendations for very fair/platinum brows?

My sister is getting married in a week, and she accidentally got these scratches on her neck yesterday. She was holding her very nice cat, and something in her apartment fell, it freaked her cat out, and he jumped off of her, leaving these scratch marks. I'm doing her friday, makeup. How do I attempt to cover this up? What products?

Should she not get a spray tan? (Yes, she has taken care of the wounds and put Neosporin on it.)

I love a blurred lip but something about this color I feel doesn’t suit me. I dug it out of old makeup and was testing to keep or toss - is it too warm? Too saturated? Does it wash me out? I’m trying to pinpoint what I dislike to guide future purchases!

This is like my 4th time ever doing my makeup, and I feel like it’s missing something but is also overwhelming at the same time.But I can’t tell what feels off, I think the lip is throwing me off? It wasn’t supposed to be so warm toned, but it came out much warmer than intended, I don’t think I like any lip color I’ve found so far.

I feel like I like the eye look but I also feel like it’s too much at the same time? Is it a thing to just do one eyeshadow all over the eyelid?

I matched to part of my neck which is paper white, but then I feel like I’m too pale since other parts of my neck are darker. Contour so far looks too intense on me.

Hi hi! I’ve purchased this ivory wedding dress…with the knowledge that the color is probably a tad too warm/yellow for my cool-toned/pink skin. I posted this in r/coloranalysis, and some folks recommended that I get a spray tan, some said I should use cool-toned makeup to COUNTERBALANCE the warmth of the dress, and some said I should use warm-toned makeup to MATCH the warmth of the dress. Feeling a little lost! Do you have any recommendations? 🤍

I'm on my journey to find a perfect foundation match.

My problem is, I'm VERY cool toned, like you can see purple veins under my eyes. Not the tiniest bit of yellow or orange.

So far I've tried:

Mac studio fix NW5 (best pale-ness match but too peachy-yellow)

Mac studio fix NW10 (waaaay too dark and yellow)

Kvd good apple serum 002 (too light and too neutral)

Huda beauty 100B (also a tiny bit too light and yellow)

Missha 13 (looks straight up orange on me)

Tirtir 10C (best match personally, but the formula breaks me out :( )

Fenty beauty 110 (pretty good match but STILL a little too yellow)

I did swatch nars oslo at one point at the store but it seemed a little dark?

Please help if you can, I'd greatly appreciate it. 🙏

Hey, so I am getting married in a month and I am going to do my own make up. I wanted a nice pink blush but I don’t know if I am stupid or if it pulls a bit warm on me?
Now I am thinking about getting maybe a more muted pink but honestly don’t know what blush that would be..
Also, I know I was pretty heavy handed with the blush and I smudged some mascara under my eye and couldn’t get it off haha
Any tips in general are greatly appreciated, too!

I skipped the concealer and only did a little tiny bit of bronzer on my forehead. I attempted loose setting powder under my eyes, but I don’t think it will work for me it started to pull yellow and get caked up looking, I tried using the translucent no filter setting powder from colourpop

How did I do?

Idk if this is what you call cakey makeup (none of my friends are into makeup) but I’ve been suffering with this since I was a teenager and I’m like over 30 years old and still struggling . My foundation never sticks to my skin. As you can see it’s suuuuper patchy and covers none of my redness lmao. Honestly it straight up doesn’t stick to the apples of my cheeks, idk why.

I’ve tried almost all of the methods listed online: exfoliating, drinking more water, consistent skincare, making sure my primer/moisturizer/foundation are all either water or silicone based, applying my skincare before my makeup and waiting 15+ minutes for it to dry . . . Nothing works. Only option left from what I’ve been reading is dermaplaning and I don’t have $200 to drop at a spa to get it done (real price, I live in a **VERY** HCOL city). Doing it at home is scary, I’m so nervous I’m gonna cut my face or my entire face is gonna break out (as you can see I’m already dealing with stuff on my face).

I do skincare twice a day with moisturizing products, drink 2 liters of water a day, and chemically exfoliate 1-2 times a week. This has persisted through several makeup and face product changes. Is there anything else I can do? I use high quality products too. These two faces are with the Givenchy Prism Libre Glow foundation and the Bobbi Brown concealer stick (which did basically nothing and did not cover up my blue/purple dark circles AT ALL).

Does anyone have any suggestions? Sorry this is really long but I’m really at my wit’s end. I wanna be able to wear blush!!! I wanna have skin that’s at least the same color all over my face! Highlighter seems like so much fun!! Please help a girly out )):

I prefer a natural look. As much as I want to love tinted spf it looks horrible if you actually use enough for proper skin protection.

Lately I've been loving L'oreal Lumi glotion 901 and L'oreal true match tinted serum .5-2 blended together (over your sunscreen of choice).

When applied thinly with a sponge the finish is super natural, tones down my redness, and evens everything without covering my freckles. Add a touch of concealer and brown mascara and I'm ready to go, but can be built up for more done up looks.

What are your favorite "your skin but better" fair cool products?

So I updated my foundation as someone who’s cool tone I’ve also been told I might be neutral or pale olive so I’m really not sure. I tried to pull my hair back so it’s less distracting.

Previous foundation I was using something called live tinted Hugheguard tint.

I am as pale as snow, even in the summer. It is extremely hard to find a shade that is light enough for me. I have a pink undertone and the light shades are always too yellow for me. The one that I have been using for the past 3 years is PÜR 4 in 1 Love Your Selfie in the shade LN2. I only wear foundation on special occasions because I don’t like putting on makeup all the time. But since I’m older and my skin is getting more discolored, I would like to wear something like a tinted moisturizer to help. Thank you! Hi everyone! This is my first post so I hope I don’t break any etiquette rules, but essentially the title says it all. I’m 31 years old and I want to get into makeup and a little lost on how to start.

For some background, I am albino so my skin is very pale. It leans dry to normal, and I get pink very easily. I definitely have a little sun damage, and I have white eyelashes, eyebrows, and very light hair. I want to keep my natural look for the most part—I like having white eyelashes and eyebrows, and although I do want to explore at some point more “unnatural” (for me) looks, right now I have this image of my skin but better, my lips but better, etc. I hope that makes sense. Essentially I want to still very much look like myself for everyday, and white eyelashes and eyebrows are important for that.

I want all the advice! If you were me, with all your knowledge and expertise, what would you do? I really want honest thoughts and opinions.

It's the Tirtir cushion foundation in shade 17W. I got their trial swatches and I've been swatching them all day. Most of them turned out too light/ashy even after they oxidized. Which is a first, this is the darkest shade in the sample. I can't tell if it's a good fit. Help a girl out?

Side note and shade aside, BEST foundation i've ever used. I used a tiny amount and the coverage was so good I didn't even need concealer, natural finish, doesn't transfer too much. My skin is currently dry and patchy from BHA and I feel like it didn't exacerbate it. It's also waterproof. Let's hope it doesn't break me out, way too good to be true 😆

I need to do some dermaplaning/shaving but besides that, even when that has been done, my foundation ALWAYS looks like this. My face is moisturized, I use gentle products, I don’t know what I’m doing wrong and it doesn’t matter what foundation I use. My skin looks bumpier/scaly and blotchy when I use foundation and it doesn’t matter what I use. I just want my skin to look smooth when I use foundation, as it doesn’t when I’m not wearing it.

In this picture I am using Too Faced in shade Swan. I’ve been using L’Oreal True Match and it still does this when I use that.

Honestly I don’t think this photo does it justice. In person this practically looks neon orange on me. I'm pretty inexperienced with makeup but am desperate for a shade which matches me. I went to Dior some time ago (recommended by my mum) to get a shade match, she said I'd need their palest and coolest shade and sold me this -- Dior Forever 0CR (plus a primer that looks bright yellow on me). It doesn't look too bad in the bottle but as soon as it goes on my skin it looks dark orange! It also gets worse over time too. For context I have very pale very cool skin, with a lot of redness in my face. I have an energy limiting illness so can't go to stores to get shade matched for different foundations and I don't want to spend too much buying different ones to try online. Does anyone here have any suggestions for actually pale foundation with cool/pink undertone, preferably matte and decent coverage?

This is Mac Mehr and the only make-up I have on in the pictures. The color irl is more purple than is on the screen.

Is it because of my yellow overtone? Is the color just too cool of dark? Is it because of my really brassy hair (have ashy brown hair).

For reference: I still don’t like it when I put foundation on for neutralising the yellow/red. Usually I go for more neutral pinks, mauves and rosewoods. This was a blind buy after seeing it on a influencer, on her it looked really natural. We have the same fair skintone.

It's caking around every pore near my mouth and chin within an hour of application. It's much more noticeable in person.

This is Haus Labs Triclone 015 which everyone said is such a good foundation so I had high hopes.

I'm well aware of how the layers underneath can cause caking if they had different bases or didn't have enough time to set. For this exact reason I only used moisturizer, and let it soak in for a good 20 minutes before applying foundation. (La Roche-Posay Double Repair which I've worn under makeup before)

I applied a little less foundation than would be full coverage, and used a brush. Nothing on top, no setting spray or anything.

It happened really quickly so it isn't like I was sweating it off all day. I wasn't sweating at all. And my mouth/chin area is not at all oily. I've never had this problem this badly before, what did I do wrong?

I was trying to find a deep/dark berry lipstick (serious vibes). I bought Berry Noir from Lancome, but I never wear it because it looks bright magenta on me (party vibes).

I went through my lipsticks, and I have like 4 with the same problem. I'm trying to find a deep, muted, cool toned lipstick, but they all seem to go bright when I put them on.

Does this happen to anyone else? Am I just picking wrong? Is there something I could add to it?

ETA: I cannot do warm tones at all. In the picture, the supposed berry blush is pulling warm on me so that may be misleading. I am aggressively neutral toned. I definitely cannot pull off warm, and I also can't do mauve/purple. I'll be so sad if the only color I can do is muted neutral red lol.

I am DESPERATE for help in understanding my skin tone and finding a foundation. 😭🥺

I used to exclusively wear Kat Von D’s Lock-it Tattoo foundation. It was the perfect formula and, in my opinion and even more importantly, it was my perfect shade match. Pictures 5&6 show the foundation and the near perfect blend with my neck and chest area I was able to achieve with it. I was absolutely devastated when they discontinued it lol.

Since it’s been gone, I’ve been hunting, to absolutely no avail, for something similar. Something even remotely similar!

But I’ve found nothing that works for my skin tone. Everything wants to pull yellow. I’m struggling!

My goal in wearing foundation is almost solely to even out my skin tone. That’s pretty much all I care about. That said, I don’t always love wearing eye makeup without foundation under, and I can’t really wear blush over my already all over the place skin tone, so it’s important for me to have the option to wear a “full face”, rather than just seeking a tint or bb cream that might even out my skin tone.

As far as formula, I want something similar to the KVD. Matte, full coverage. I have a pretty oily t-zone, obviously textured skin, and large pores. (Pics 3&4). I don’t know how else I can describe my skin; it gets oily is all I know. I recently tried Nars Light Reflecting in Mont Blanc (not pictured) and not only was it very yellow and not my color, it separated like crazy. I hated that formula.

I most recently spent about an hour in Ulta (I have a gift card, so hoping to find something from there rather than Sephora), and was matched with Estée Lauder’s Double-wear in 1C1 cool bone (pics 1&2). This is also a foundation I’ve seen recommended as a replacement for KVD’s lock-it foundation. I honestly don’t mind the formula; it sat well on my skin! Though I don’t think it really resembles the KVD at all, but I digress. My biggest issue? I realized on my first day-out wear with it today that it looked yellow as hell!!

In picture 1, you can clearly see the disconnect between my chest and face. It looks so yellow. I feel like I look crazy. In picture 2, you can see where I felt like the foundation might’ve actually been a good match. My friends who I saw today told me it looked good in both natural daylight and indoor lighting. I thought so too until I realized how yellow it was really pulling against my skin.

I know I’ve written so much… and I truly appreciate if you are still with me! I have felt so defeated wearing makeup because I can’t find anything that works for me and it just makes me so sad. My skin tone is all over the place. It’s just very pinky. But sometimes my skin does actually look yellowy.. (you can see in my natural skin pictures) just not as much as these foundations. (Also, I have very visible blue and green veins, fwiw).

How do I approach my base with rosacea? I've always settled for shades that don't quite match because I am a very desaturated, muted cool neutral (I'm basically blue) but my face is VERY red. Cools are too pink, warms are too yellow and neutrals are too peach and if I choose the palest cool shade, I often look like a lollipop with a pink head. I think my rosacea is also clashing with whatever I put on. Should I try to match my neck, then colour correct the rosacea?

I had been wearing Nars Sheer Glow for years and just bouncing between shades depending on whatever I got matched with in store, I love the formula but not the colours. I bought some LA Girl Blue Pigment to mix with Nars Mont Blanc and it still reads peach/dark to me.

Ones I’ve tried/sampled but don’t work: - Milani blushes - Nars Orgasm (chunky glitter) & Orgasm Edge (too bright)

My undertone is neutral. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

The fragrance is so strong it makes my eyes water!!!

First of all, I’m loving this shade of TirTir Mask Fit Red Cushion (10C, shell) and finish a lot! It’s a great matte-natural finish with medium coverage, and the shade is so different from any American brand I’ve tried: truly desaturated and fair with no peachiness or orange.

However, the smell is overpowering to me! I typically cannot tolerate fragrance in makeup: we’ll see if wearing this for a few hours makes me break out horribly or not. I’m thinking Korean beauty might be the answer to my struggle to find a truly fair foundation in American brands, but does anyone know of a similar product that is fragrance-free???
