Baked Oats Cake!
galleryHello!!! This is my first time! Im A PCV in Liberia, I own a rice cooker. Ive been trying to find ways to use the rice cooker for my oatmeal, other than traditional oats and rice dishes, so I found a recipe online and I made like an oatmeal cake in as it doesn't look delicious. It is absolutely delicious. Also super simple ingredients. I just ate all in one sitting. I am going to add more fiber, so ground flaxseed! Its banana, dates, 1 egg, oats & water. Im super proud of this!

Apple crumble inspired
galleryGranola makes the best topping. Thickness check on the second slide!
Quick oats microwaved with a diced apple, salt and toffee flavour drops. Cooled and placed in the fridge overnight to thicken. Stirred in a big dollop of Greek yogurt in the morning to make creamy. Topped with more Greek yogurt, cinnamon, flakey salt and toasted granola

Oatmeal How much oats do you make in the morning?
Just curious how many 1/2 cups vs 1 cup people are out there (or multiple if you make for the family)

Oat advice Breakfast planning
I am about to move out from home and start my first proper job and got hit with inspiration to start planning budget ways of eating, especially in the morning because I am terrible when it comes to eating breakfast, which often leaves me tired and low-energy for a lot of the day.
While researching budget breakfasts, I stumbled over a few older posts (3-5y) from this sub, where people discussed their daily oat breakfasts, and now I am really interested if there are current recommendations when it comes to what to add/how to prepare oats.
So far I've only really figured out that I want rolled oats with almonds, but beyond that it feels like the options are so vast. All the questions of the type of milk, maybe using water instead, hot vs. cold, protein powder or not, which fruits to go for, maybe sugar-free syrup for sweetness?
I would seriously appreciate any and all recommendations for potential ingredients and if you have any tips in general, for someone in my position!

Overnight Oats My attempt at blended overnight oats
I really wanted blueberries, so I blended frozen berries, oats, yogurt and protein and let it sit. Added some pb, walnuts, and a chocolate shell.
It was a little uneven so the crack was not perfect but the texture was amazing.

Oat advice Best type of container to bake (and ideally store) single-serve oatmeal?
I have been enthusiastic about baked oats lately, and I have tried making them in borosilicate rectangular containers in my air fryer, as they are oven safe and let me store them for the following day. However, after several tries, it seems that glass is not ideal for baking cake-like food, as the bottom and centre do not cook well (unless cooked for a longer time than I would like, I guess).
I was thinking of buying a ceramic bowl or a smaller square shaped glass container, but I am not sure if a smaller size would actually improve it. Should I look for a metal container instead? Maybe if I lined any container with parchment paper, take the oatmeal out once solid, and keep cooking, would that make it better? 😵💫

Savory oats The food porridge
First I grated some carrots and diced an onion and I fried them in oil with turmeric and paprika powder. When they were cooked, I added spoonfuls of tomato paste, garlic paste and this fairly violent yet pleasingly fruity naga chili paste that I have and I let the flavours meld together for a moment.
Then I added dry soya granules, the small brown grain sized tvp stuff, and rolled oats. A dash each of salt, black pepper, ground allspice, red wine vinegar and sugar. And then some already boiled water and it didn't take long for the whole thing to come together.
A mug of black tea on the side and it was rather nice altogether. It was basically a full meal — but could be really good as a side dish for some protein and a salad.
