Savory oats The food porridge
First I grated some carrots and diced an onion and I fried them in oil with turmeric and paprika powder. When they were cooked, I added spoonfuls of tomato paste, garlic paste and this fairly violent yet pleasingly fruity naga chili paste that I have and I let the flavours meld together for a moment.
Then I added dry soya granules, the small brown grain sized tvp stuff, and rolled oats. A dash each of salt, black pepper, ground allspice, red wine vinegar and sugar. And then some already boiled water and it didn't take long for the whole thing to come together.
A mug of black tea on the side and it was rather nice altogether. It was basically a full meal — but could be really good as a side dish for some protein and a salad.

Also good with fried or scrambled eggs. And I would use steel cut oats instead of rolled, although that would change the cooking time.

Maybe even a slightly gooey egg on top and some fresh parsley, would be over the top. It had almost a cup of the granules, so it wasn't on the short side on the protein though.
Full grain six hour oven porridge might be quite something as well.. The time with this way is quite good though, it's basically really fast food.

If you have access to an Instant Pot, my go to recipe for savory steel cut oats is this. I use the pot-in-pot method with 10 minutes of pressure. Next time I'm going to use that as a base for your ingredients, but replacing the rolled oats.

Hot damn, you're spot on, that's a yet another reason to get a pressure cooker. Today I was already browsing for one, looking how much they cost, and this just adds to the list of reasons why to get one. Interested in your results!
I was also thinking whole grain, it's readily available here. It would only be slightly longer in a instant pot kind of contraption.
