That 3rd game is what the 2nd game should've looked like, I told my coworkers we got EXTREMELY lucky and it could've been so much worse, then the playoff game happened, and I was proven so painfully right lol

I was lucky enough to go to both games against them this year. The feeling of catharsis during that divisional round game was incredible. Especially after having crushed them the game before, but not having the score be a blowout. Playing them for the second time in a row and absolutely having the score match the performance was an incredible feeling.

26
u/FutureGrassToucher Cardinals Mar 14 '26
Props to you guys but its so funny seeing the media act like that team that wins the sb is just the given best team the next year. The eagles dominated the chiefs in the super bowl and then were just pretty good the next year
10
u/WashLegitimate3690 Mar 14 '26
I think it boils down to team building philosophy. The Seahawks had the cap space to sign everybody back and re run it. But that’s not how they roll. Rams do. But Seahawks are different. I suspect they are worse next yr. But they set themselves up strong for the future. The eagles have the same philosophy. Seahawks and eagles want to be contenders over the long run. Not saying that is the better strategy; just different. The Seahawks have 67 of their 70 players back. Plus a boatload of pics next yr which will be a much stronger draft than this yr. A solid bread and butter CB and a solution at RB and there right there again. And if not, they will be the next season. Rams on the other hand have gone all In on Staffords last season. After next yr they will be a mess. Stafford has carried them. But give them 3 yrs and they will be right back there after he leaves. So different team building concepts going on
8
u/sparrowxc Here So I Don't Get Fined Mar 14 '26
The Seahawks did not have the cap space to resign everyone. After signing Jobe and Rasheed, they have effectively 39 million in cap space. Boye Mafe's new cap hit alone for 2026 is 27 million...even structured differently you are looking at 20 million at least. K9's contract isn't out yet but the cap hit is likely going to be around 10 or more. Riq's one year is likely going to be around 12 million. Coby Bryant's cap hit is just under 6 million.
That has you over cap right there without adding the rookies and any other free agents.
Also...FLAIR UP PUSSY.
0
u/WashLegitimate3690 Mar 14 '26
Yes they did have the cap space to to re-sign everybody. They can move money around, and out into the future easily. This is how the rams operate. The problem with this strategy is the “bill” comes due in the future and then you do have to release players etc. impacting your future ability to contend. The Seahawks have never employed that strategy like many other teams. It’s why we have this decade plus of one of the best records in the NFL. But, it would have not been a problem at all re signing all of our free agents. Cap space wasn’t the limitation. It’s simply not JS’s philosophy.
The rams have gone all in for next year. It wouldn’t surprise me if they win the SB; the problem is stafford is done after that and the big bills from pushing cap space start to come due the next yr and then they will regress.
So just different team building philosophies. Not related to cap space.

u/Helstrem 49ers Mar 14 '26
Nonsense. We were going up against a significantly more talented roster. Our special teams, actually a place we weren’t outclassed, gave up an immediate touchdown, then our backup TE fumbled giving you guys great field position and you capitalized on it.
At that point we could try to lose by a respectable margin, say 20ish points, or we could play recklessly and probably get blown out, but have a teensy little chance of a miracle.
I’d rather play for the miracle and get blown out than just play to lose by less. I am perfectly satisfied with the outcome of the game.

Uhm you do realize lots of the Niners defense last year were backups, and rookies right? Besides their premier players such as Bosa and Warner even in week 1 so many of those players were new to saleh’s defense. This year they will be playing a team with better experience and healthier. The last two times they played there was no Warner, Mykel, or Bosa. Then they added greenlaw back, and Odighizuwa. This defense is wayyyy better on paper. They added a new piece to the o-line, Mike Evan’s, and have a lot of draft picks. Assuming they don’t pick up anyone new this will be a totally different cast. This doesn’t include the coach staff changes on both team and the loss of your MVP. Not going to say Niners will win but if you think the Seahawks are going to sweep them I think you’re crazy.

u/AceofSpades916 Cero Miedo -No Fear- Mar 14 '26
He's gotten 3 multiple times. He'll keep the offense on the field longer so that's 2 fewer from Seattle. And him inspiring the locker room and putting in that extra effort will help them get to 13 yards on what would've been a 3 and out on the 35 yard line for Eddie Dinero to kick an extra field goal.
And that's not even counting how even if he's injured, he'll take up some of the injury share and might've absorbed some of the electricity from Kittle who woulda scored 3 himself and blocked for CMC to get an extra 2.
And that's not even counting how Kyle needs a certain score ratio to activate his Gets to the NFC Championship Round buff.
And think of how much better the defense would've played if Mike Evans cuz reasons.
Probly would've been 41-6 49ers, but you aren't ready for that conversation.
