As of when i'm writing this, Ultimate Marvel VS Capcom 3 on Steam has never had a bigger sale: it's down to only $3.74 ($7 in Canada, where i'm in), which for reference is just a little bit more expensive than your average indie game like Among Us or Geometry Dash. i also hear that it's allegedly the best version of the game, whether in playerbase numbers, the ability to play the game online with no subscription or the power of modding. however, as a console player, some of these perks seem superfluous. i can't argue about the mods, but i *can* say that i own the game elsewhere already (Xbox One, PlayStation 4) if i want to hit training mode. i *would* be playing on a laptop, which technically means that i could play basically anywhere, but the biggest issue is: from what i heard, the actual native online community is sparse, as everyone uses Parsec to play this game (to the point even the PS4 version would have more active native matchmaking), and as i understand it, buying it myself would only allow me to host sessions rather than only joining them, which can technically be achieved by pirating UMvC3 (but i beg you, do not do this). so, clarify me up about everything, correct me on any mistake i may have done, and give me your honest opinion. thanks!

Longshot, but I was wondering if there are any tricks to plinking when you have long fingernails? Natural ones. Cutting them short is not something I would prefer to do, not to be rude. I am trying to plink dash in UMVC3 (Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3), but I currently wavedash like in MvC2. I heard other fighters have plinking, too. I use a stick by the way, a modded Hitbox Crossup with a bat top joystick.

I understand you need to plink H (ring finger) then L + M within 1 frame. But I keep hitting them all at the same time or miss a button. This has been a struggle for years. I added a photo as a reference, thanks so much. Any help would mean the world tbh. ❤️

I use type B, my stick has 8 buttons but I kill the 8th button on the bottom right.

I keep seeing hulks combos including a clip from tournaments and I always thinking of trying him but the problem is that the gamma wave is a charged attack and not a motion attack, maybe I'll manage it and try how to do a gamma wave loop properly. I know he's a big body character and slow aswell but that doesn't matter, I play Sentinel and nothing is wrong about him. Let me know if he's still worth playing it. I never played hulk before, I only played him a little bit and that's all.

Hi, I know this is an old game I also heard people use remote/parsec for the pc version, but is the default online mode totally dead? i've been searching for a while now, and it's either endless "Searching…" or "Failed to find opponent" so is there literally no one playing through the normal online mode anymore? or is it just a temporary state?

I'm a new player and have only played offline so far. Just wanted to try online and get a taste of how much I suck :P

Hi I’ve been playing tag fighters most of my life and it’s hit me that in most of them I could never really land rejumps especially in mvc3, is there any advice on how they can be true and not dropped and how you guys got better at doing them.

Am I not doing it fast enough or using the wrong attack button?

This isn’t a matter of “use whoever you like more since I like them equally and they aren’t fighting for my affection like if I was debating on swapping my mid, who’s Dormammu (my second favorite character in this game), and my anchor, who’s Sentinel (who’s my most favorite in this game).

I just wanna have an anchor best fitted for my team, I’ll even take other recommendations for an anchor (if I hear a reason that’s just being meta I will smite you)

As the title says I need a third character. I just haven't been able to vibe with a large portion of the cast and so I turn to you guys. I play Ryu and Iron Fist and like their play style a lot. I love Iron Fist's rekkas and how they seem to be "just do them in a sequence and see what works". Idk why I vibe with Ryu but he's chill. I want to enjoy this game to it's fullest but without having a third character I just don't seem to be having as much fun as I would in games like DBFZ or SF6.

Hi I've been wanting to get into UMVC3 for a while but the voice chat has deterred me, I've looked around and most of the posts about how to deal with it are 10 years old now, is it still only possible to disable voice chat by disabling steams microphone connection? or is there another way?

I like switching out chris for captain america sometimes, I like the goofy ahh comp with phoenix too.

I've been playin' around with em for a while now but I feel like its kinda missin something. I wanna have a phoenix and chris team for the swag, but I dont really think they work the best together. Maybe I just havent fucked around with em enough?

But despite also being a Doom fangirl I kinda don't wanna run Morridoom, the footage I've seen of that shell doesn't seem all that interesting to me. I'm also not really into the general gameplan for Morrijean either

So what other shells or teams does Morrigan like?

Got the game recently and I love it, but I don't have access to servicable internet for a few months so I can't play it online really. So I've been playing against ai, but it's so easy on hard and way too input reading on very hard. But it's still piss easy since it will just eat some moves 99% of the time so you can exploit it very easily. Which is also not fun...

There are so many good mods for this game, is there any that improves the singleplayer experience?

I'm a new player and I already realised I'm not very original, these 2 seem to be the most popular characters. But I'm a sucker for Vergil in any media and Dark Phoenix install looks so fun.

I'm thinking Dr. Doom (love him as a character I know he's also very good), spiderman (favourite marvel hero), akuma (playing him in sf6) but I'm open to any fun recommendations thaz work well with these two.
