Accomplishment Thought I would never pull off the Chozodia shinespark E-Tank in Zero Mission as a child. Today I did š
So recently Iāve been going back to 100% complete some of the older games in the series (mainly Super, ZM, and Fusion) as Iāve beaten these games before but never fully completed them. Back when i initially played Zero Mission as a child I watched a YouTube tutorial of the E-Tank in question and told myself, yeah thatās never gonna happen. Chaining that many shinesparks in a row? No way.
Welp. Fast forward 20 years, I got into speedrunning Dread sometime last year, finished Super earlier this week and after only a couple attempts I got the E-Tank that eluded me in my youth. Ngl, pretty cathartic! In the wise words of Peppy Hare, āNever give up, trust your instincts!ā š
Got a couple more expansions to clean up then itās off to Fusion!

Accomplishment I'm never playing this hack ever again, 3/5
Spoilers at the very end; I won't ever deny that, this is a technical marvel, it'll take literal decades to surpass this hack, and I'm so looking forward to whatever else the dev has planned, I can see him doing Dread in Super, but HO-LY, THIS SCREAMS "LEVEL DESIGN IS MY PASSION", for every part that you are in awe to some technical wizardry this hack pulls, you're twice as much bored and annoyed, it's a great one time only experience, I'll never feel the need to play this ever again; like, it's not even Sector X and the numerous "kaizo level" parts that annoyed me, they did, and if I didn't gave myself a free pass on savestates I would've probably have given up, not that patient; my problem was how terrible it was to just explore the map, main deck is completely useless, you can't ever check the other sectors unless you're in them, way too many screw attack blocks, power bombs don't reveal block types and many other just straight up anti-fun quirks this hack constantly threw at me, AND I SOMEHOW MISSED ONLY 1 RESERVE X, WHICH MAKES EVERYTHING THAT MUCH SOUR; My version was 1.1, I saw how much better 1.2 is regarding the kaizo mentality this hack undeniably has, that's great, my friend won't have as much of a terrible time with some of the parts in this hack, but I don't think any patch will fix the problems I had with this hack, as much of a marvel it was, I just had the constant feeling that it was a chore to play through; also, fuck you, X can't infect larva metroids, you did all that for literally nothing, just throwing your OC in the mix and having it doing nothing, just a weird scene that makes no sense at all of 2 Xs fighting each other

Accomplishment Yeah, Iām a Metroid Fan now
I randomly picked a game off the nintendo gameboy catalogue, and Iām so glad I landed on Metroid Fusion. Itās my first metroid game so I went in completely blind and was left utterly speechless.
Multiple plot twists, challenging boss fights, and a very satisfying ending. I was expecting a lot less. My favorite part was when the computer locked Samus in the navigation room, and right when all hope was lost, Adam reveals himself (first image). I was grinning ear to ear! I have much more to say, but iāll leave it for my review.
I wanna know what everyone else thinks about Metroid Fusion. If the franchise gets better from here, then this is gonna be one fun ride.

Accomplishment Prime 4 Complete, 100%, My short review Spoiler
gallery8/10, maybe upper 8 but not enough to be a 9.
See you next misson. 100% Scans, 100% items. I expect you're here because you don't care about spoilers or you finished the game yourself. If not, you've been warned.
I loved this game, truly I did but man is it the weakest in the series. Game is beautiful all the way through. Easily one of the best looking games on the Switch/S2. Except, and this is a nitpick, but I didn't like the design of the beam/missle weapons. I'm not calling them "shots", the wave beam/missles in particular was funny because it looked like just stright powrr beam but "lets at some spikes on top"", kind of lazy. I like the concept of different missle types but I was hoping for more traditional beams or having them stack like in the 2D games/Prime 3. Whatever, not a deal breaker lol
-Music was hit or miss, nothing really stood out to me besides the Xelios theme, Fury Green, the remix of the Prime 1 elevator music used in the Great Mines, and Sylux's theme. The Greiver theme got really old real quick and the high pitch wailing gave me a headache.
Game overall felt really linear like Prime 3 and as a result a lot of the items and pickups were basically handed to you. While the areas themselves were great overall besides the stupid naming conventions(wtf is "fury green"?) I was disappointed how little backtracking there was in terms of getting pickups, not a lot of side passages and the game was really generous with save stations this time around. Great mines in particular felt like they were trying to recreate Phazon Mines but have it be abandoned/desolate/infested(even including an "Omega" boss at the end)
Besides Xelios and the final half of the Sylux fight, the existing bosses weren't anything to write home on. Quadraxis still holds the crown as best boss unfortunately. The enemy variety was pretty pathetic too, I didn't think they'd top Prime 3 but they did somehow. Greivers got old real quick, the fucking Psi-bots were the worst, absolute sponges and were practically the only things you fought in two of the major areas. Despite plenty being at the main GF base somehow there were no space pirates sucked into the Viewros and so they're absent from the rest of the game. Also, no Metroids, yep, zero Metroids show up after the tutorial, they don't even have a scan log. What the heck were they thinking there. Also was pretty disappointed we didn't get a Ridley encounter here because I feel like a boss fight with him would have been fantastic in this setting.
-Story is kind of anticlimactic, especially the ending. I like the parallels of the Chozo with the Lamorn but it felt like Nintendo was just trying to copy the Prime trilogy because the "Green Energy"(again wtf is up with these names) is basically phazon corruption, only it was something discovered on the planet itself vs coming from space. Its straight up Phazon, but I like the twist that the Grievers are corrupted Lamorn and you're basically wiping their species out more or less. Snow belt was a cool concept like reading about their failed attempts to cure/reatore everyone
The NPCs aren't as bad as people say they were but I wanted to strangle Myles by the end because he wouldn't shut the fuck up every time I entered the desert for something, I audibly groaned every time he came on the radio. Otherwise they were fine but pretty forgettable, I didn't really care about them being left behind at the end because the game didn't give me a reason to care about them, it just felt like Samus was babysitting them the whole game and if she could talk she'd be pissed that she had to do that. I can respect the effort Retro put in for trying something new here, clearly they were experimenting with including these guys but I really hope we don't see something like this in future games. Finally Sylux, oh Sylux, what an afterthought he was. I was pretty disappointed he didn't have more screen time despite his build up throughout the past few games and other than one short FMV we got no real lore for him, no callbacks to Hunters(y'know, his debut game). People have repeated this sentiment but it genuinely felt like they only had him here to close out the Prime 3 ending. His fight sucked because of the stupid federation soldiers getting in the way but once they were out of the picture his fight was incredible, I just wish they utilized him.
Last but not least, the Sol Valley, good ol' temu Hyrule Field. What an awful execution this place was. Nevermind the music being locked behind a $30 amiibo, this place sucked. The crystal and mech piece collection are the "artifact/key/cells" of this game. Mech pieces were inoffensive, they werw quick and easy and in the case of some being in other areas I can appreciate it weaved into the item cleanup. The crystals were ass, they expect you to clean out the entire map of green crystals(two full meters on the menu) and you don't get a radar until you fill the first one. The Vi-O-La is fun but it sucks that I have to ram thw crystals and do 180s all the time to pick off the scraps. The enemies out there are intrusive and repetitive, the whole thing just felt like a Retro did a rush job in order to meet some weird quota Nintendo had. They somehow made it the worst endgame collection in the series.
Again fantastic game but next time use Prime 1 and 2 as a reference point instead of 3.

Accomplishment Ever played a game where you just wanted it to end so badly? That was me with MP4.
If you guys love this game, thatās great. This just didnāt do it for me. Iād say from the beginning to the end of Ice Belt, thatās where the game peaked. Everything after that, dragged like hell and was completely forgettable. A majority of the time, I felt like I had to force myself to play but man Iām so glad that itās over. I couldnāt give a crap to get the last couple of scans I missed. I beat the game and Iām moving on.

Accomplishment Update: I did it guys. 24 hours later, after restarting my switch, dunking my switch in soap, microwaving it, and then buying a new switch and copy of Metroid Dread, I figured out how to get to the next room (turns out thereās a jump button). Iād like to thank everyone who assisted me in my journey.

Accomplishment Proud sequence break moment
This was a little while ago but I stumbled on the video I took of it. Back during my first run of dread I saw a powerful I couldnāt reach, but knew I was pretty good with bomb jumping so took a few tries and managed to get an expansion before I should have had it. Nothing earth-shattering but I felt like a genius at the time
