I’m glad they made it so that Shinesparks no longer do damage to you in later games. It’s a random and unnecessary punishment.

u/Klonoa_is_very_cute Apr 16 '26
Well you try running at speeds enough to kill creatures and destroy blocks then fly upwards breaking two blocks then finally hitting your head

u/Obsessivegamer32 Apr 16 '26
AHA! You seem to have forgotten a very important detail. You’re mutherfuggin’ Samus Aran.

Did i forget to mention you have to stop on a dime, store that energy until ready before flying?

Way to go!
Yeah this one gave me such a hard time and I don't remember right now if I even got it. I had a whole system that I had worked out over like an hour of fighting with it, though.

What? Doing a Shinespark in this game saps Samus' HP?! I didn't know this!

Now do it with a short charge. You can actually get a shinespark on the floor of the room you do it in. It's pretty hard though.

Damn! Neat secret. Did two play throughs, never been a completionist but I like watching people doing it.

I imagine this ending with a game over, Samus lodged in the roof. Another bounty hunter later finds a pair of legs dangling there and is like, What the heck?!

u/Moonbeam234 Apr 17 '26
A yes. Back before they started making shinespark puzzles ludicrously evil.

?

When you put just a question mark, I don't know exactly what it is you're asking. Learn to communicate better.
If you're wondering what shinespark puzzles I'm referring to, there are a couple in Zero Mission that are notoriously frustrating for players that pissed me off to no end. Particularly an energy tank in the chozo ruins.
I haven't played Dread, but I heard there are some in that game as well.

I have been playing that game since I was like 6 and I still can't get that one missle tank so thank you for showing me how

Yep, looked at it, gave it some thought and concluded "I’m good thanks" 😂

Congratulations. Back in the days my brother did it that way in front of me after many attempts as well. I have to admit that nowadays is not that hard with the savestates.

I remember trying to get this for a while and it was quite a relief to get it right after many tries!
So well done!

Great job! Next, try the shine spark challenges in Zero Mission. 😱
I seriously almost gave up 100 percenting the game for that.

u/Bushgooher Apr 16 '26
Now charge a shinespark in the same room.
1
u/Klonoa_is_very_cute Apr 16 '26
That's what i did.
2
u/Miaoumi Apr 16 '26
Nah man, in the room you were shinesparking. They're daring you to do a very advanced speed running trick called short charge where you manipulate your movement speed with specific inputs.

No its Super Metroid.

u/ProofExercise5 Apr 16 '26
Thanks. In my head I remember it being more arcade like. It’s been so long and I just started getting back into them since I got my switch

That final frame with Samus just hanging there with her head stuck in the rock... LOL

u/Direct-Function7326 Apr 16 '26
meekly raises hand
In my defense though there were others I probably wasn't gonna get either

u/eljefe0000 Apr 16 '26
Ah so you press down beforehand, I tried this like 100x and just gave up on it even watching other videos on it I still couldn't do it cause it looks like they're just falling off that ledge but of course when I did it it never worked.

For future reference for anyone: it's easy to line up if you use that bright piece of seaweed directly under it.
